I liked this sci-fi movie, and the book is better. It is kind of a Tale of the Body Snatchers story but the story is told from the perspective of one of the aliens who gets put into a human that doesn't just fade away.

I listened to this audiobook for almost 24 long hours (I sped it up eventually). If you‘re into a Twilight-style love triangle, this might be for you. For me, there were way too many incidents of Melanie getting pushed, hit, and dragged to feel comfortable. Also the story needed some serious editing.

LiseWorks It was so long but I grudges through it . I don't know if I would listen to it though 3y

This one was long. OMG, I was like get one with it. I'm not one to quit on a book plus the topic was really good, the characters were a little shallow with no substance. But this author goes on and on. I saw it in the movies with Twilight. I might watch the movie if I can find it. I never read her Twilight books, my daughters told me they were juvenile lol.

StayCurious I actually really like the twilight books and if you have a DVD player I have this movie you can borrow 3y

I loved this book! This book was almost good enough for me to forgive Stephenie Meyer for the putrid pile of garbage that was Twilight. I wish she would write a sequel to this instead of rehashing and regurgitating Twilight content the way she recently did with the new book that was written from Edward‘s perspective; that dead horse has been beaten enough. This book was both entertaining and well written. This needs to be a series.

Piper I've been looking for it. If I find it I will get it.😀 3y

I‘ve always loved the movie so I picked up the audiobook. I‘m going to say the movie sticks very closely to the book. But I think in some ways the movie creates more connection and drama for me. I do love having Wanda‘s point of view more in this one but found her a bit thick when it came to the fact that her kind were killing people despite their beliefs that souls were kind and not killers.

Brought to you by the writer of the Twilight saga, comes this amazing sci-fi novel. If the enemy wants to cure all diseases and banish all violence, are they really the enemy? What if the price would be the surrender of your entire being? Is it worth it? The story and characters completely took me by surprise. I liked Twilight, cliches and all. But this is on another level. Well done, Meyer.

“My heart faltered and then beat unevenly, and I wanted to laugh at myself. Did it matter that [Jared] was beautiful, that I loved him, when he was going to kill me?”

Nute I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. 4y
Infinityspace207 @Nute what was your favorite part in the book? 4y
Nute So the first admission to make is that Twilight didn‘t go the way that I wanted it to go with the whole who-got-the-girl thing! 4y
See All 14 Comments
Nute Second admission is that I thought that Stephenie Meyer‘s editor did a lackluster job with the entire Twilight series...far too many words...far too many pages...far too many unnecessary descriptions of particular actions that neither benefited the movement of the storyline or the development of characters. 4y
Nute Third admission is that I read this quite awhile ago so accurate recollection is a stretch!🥴 4y
Nute This book made me happy first of all because I felt that Stephenie Meyer had greatly matured as a writer. It was still a big book, but there were far fewer passages that were simply present for word count. 4y
Infinityspace207 @Nute i actually liked the descriptions. It helped set the character and made them seem more alive. 4y
Nute Also this book dealt with issues of complexity...coexisting souls within one body, that‘s a huge concept on its own. 4y
Nute Yes, I agree! I was totally immersed in these characters. 4y
Nute Oh...the reason that humans no longer deserved the planet earth, because of our violent tendencies. I don‘t even know if I should get started on that...too close to real living!😳 4y
Nute She touched on a lot of topics. I really did enjoy it. And no one was more surprised than I was. And the cherry on the top...my team player won! Yay!😁 4y
Infinityspace207 @Nute i agree we humans are really aggressive. I would prefer to give my body to a soul anyday 4y

Initially wasn't sure about this book. Its well written and interesting but I felt it hard to find empathy with the central character. However it developed very well and began to pull me in. Some of the science fiction elements (like planet names) etc I found a bit odd but maybe because it isnt my usual genre. I would recommend as something a bit different. A very clever idea though!

Okay... so. Having your first impression of a love interest be an intense choke hold and right after that an unwanted kiss is not attractive. It is not shameful to need therapy. It is not shameful to feel anger or hatred. It is not shameful to quit and try something else if something is way beyond your ability. This was all in the first 50 pages and frankly I‘m not interested in reading more.

Mishu94 It took me 2 years to finish this book, no joke 😂😂 5y
KrystalClarity @Mishu94 Lol I can see why! I read it through when I was a teenager and not gonna lie, I found the entire book pretty awful with a super creepy ending 😬 5y

KrystalClarity @Mishu94 I‘ve been reading through my whole bookcase and I‘ve been finding the best way to keep from getting super burnt out from reading awful books is to have a fun one lined up next! Makes the whole experience soooooooo much more enjoyable. I remember after slogging through Les Miserables for literally a year, I read Good Omens by Gaiman and Pratchett in 3 hours and laughed myself silly 😂 5y
Mishu94 @KrystalClarity I really want to read good omens! Is it goood? It‘s got mixed reviews so I didn‘t know whether to go ahead with it or not! 🤦‍♂️ I do the same, after some intense reading I choose something light or some cheesy romance 😂 5y
KrystalClarity @Mishu94 Personally I really enjoyed it, but it is essentially a comedy based on the biblical book of Revelations so... I can see why it would get mixed reviews 😅 if you‘re the kind of person who would get upset at someone poking fun at Christianity, I wouldn‘t recommend it, but if not, it‘s super fun 😄 I grew up in the church and I have a lot of friends who wouldn‘t like the book at all but I have others who I‘d recommend it to in a heartbeat! 5y
Mishu94 @KrystalClarity ohh that makes sense, that‘s a sensitive topic for sure! 😅 but I‘ll give it a go! I like Neil Gaimans writing! I read American Gods by him and I really liked it! 5y

I never read the Twilight series so I had no expectations for this book; I was happily surprised by the story. Wanderer, a soul placed in the human body of Melanie is expected to be alone but instead, Melanie is unwilling to give up her body...and wants to journey find her brother and love. I found this story an engaging dystopic sci fi book that, even though a thick 620 pages, held my interest to the end.

Slow start, but I‘ve loved this book since it came out! It‘s engaging and the plot is so different from anything else I‘ve read. The character development is fantastic. I‘ve listened to this on audiobook a lot too, I put it on when I drive or when I clean. Trudging through the slow start can suck, but once she‘s in the caves it speeds up. Meyer grew up a lot between the Twilight saga and this, she really developed a good pace and style.
