Sweet tear jeeker
This is the story of Joe and Nora and the life they try to build together even though Nora‘s ghostly existence relies heavily on the phenomenon of Manhattanhedge in Grand Central Station. The middle drags a bit and it‘s not exactly the epic love story it is billed as but a fascinating premise worth the read. I was thinking tonight about how no one in the world has ever read the exact same list of books as you have. Your “read” pile is uniquely yours. It‘s the set of books that has specifically shaped you — only you. Your “read” pile is as unique as your fingerprint. It‘s a list of characters, titles, authors, and quotes that have built who you are. It‘s a beautiful thing, isn‘t it?
I LOVED this book. Joe and Nora were great characters, the plot intriguing, Grand Central was its own character and the writing is beautiful. ❤️🤓
I REALLY loved this one. I read each chapter then took some time to really soak in the wisdom. Lovely, lovely read. 💛
“The past and present ceased to exist, or rather, each of them pulled at her. But she wasn‘t able to turn back, and she wasn‘t able to go forward.”
Joe meets Nora in Grand Central Terminal and notices something‘s a little different about her. She‘s not exactly a ghost but she‘s not alive either. Together they figure out the secrets keeping her where she is. I loved the descriptions of GCT. Another free spot for #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks

Loved this book. I am on a roll with good books. Joe falls in love with Nora after they meet in NYC at Grand Central Station. Something is a little weird about Nora, Joe figures it out and this love story is a good one filled with great facts about GSC. I need to go back to NYC on Dec. 6 or June 6th!:).
Do you ever read a book and what is written in it is either what you are currently doing or have just experienced? We are all waiting. We all need to be patient and believe.
This book is right up my reading alley - historical setting, magical realism/time-travel, relationship, etc., and I enjoyed it. Grunwald made some interesting choices with the premise which I have mixed feelings about. The pacing, especially in the last quarter of the book, felt off, leaving me a little unsatisfied. Yet, the authors admonition to her daughter that “not all love stories end the same way” really resonated.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
January Stats: 20 books completed - 12 for #BBRC - 3 from #NewYearWhoDis All of which I enjoyed and might not have picked up otherwise. 2 buddy reads and 1 random pick from the #readinginthenewyearswap. Not a bad month.
#bookreport This week I finished Time After Time and They Called Us Enemy. Both 4 🌟
A tender love story with an interesting twist. I enjoyed this easy read.
First #bookhaul of 2020! Had a Christmas gift card and picked up various #bookgroup reads, plus a book that wasn't on my radar but looks like just my thing (tagged for blurb). Happy reading!!
Patience meant you had to honor the moments before they happened the same way you honored the moments when they did ⏳
This has been sitting in a tbr read stack on the coffee table for weeks now (yes, I have tbr piles scattered all over, in addition to the tbr shelves) and I‘m finally digging into it.
This sounds super promising. I enjoyed Grunwald‘s book Harry House, so I‘m stacking this one. The comparison to Time Traveler‘s Wife has me excited too. #soaringscores #thebluedress
Well, I am@putting this book aside for now. It‘s not too sappy, thank goodness, but I just don‘t think I‘m in the right mood for it. I‘ll come back to it later.
I didn‘t realize this time travel book was a romance. That is one genre I don‘t care for at all. Still, time travel!

"But patience, real patience, meant more than simply waiting. Patience meant you had to honor the moments before things happened the same way you honored the moments when they did." P. 84
A love story that works outside the normal constraints of time and death. I really enjoyed the writing and the story, especially because it reminded me of one of my favorites, The Time Traveler's Wife.
Unfortunately, the storyline doesn't maintain its momentum. The ending is not a crowd pleaser. All that being said, it was well-written and had unique alterations to typical storylines. I will look into the author's other books.
Nora dies in an accident in 1925. After that she magically flickers back to life in NYC and is seen by Joe, a station worker. I adored the descriptions of Grand Central station. It was absolutely a main character within the novel. The plot had some strengths and weakness and lags in the middle, but the historical detail is excellent. There‘s a whole world within the station and the author brought it to life beautifully.
Admittedly, I‘m not generally a fan of historical fiction—rarely, I find one particularly well done; mostly I‘d rather read the actual history & save myself the forced & feeble fictional story line. The premise of this one was intriguing to me, so I tried valiantly to like it. From the outset, the story was very familiar—it‘s been done (better) in other books. As I plodded on, I found Joe and Nora less and less appealing. [bailed at 53% / 6:35:56]
Finally finished! I enjoyed the descriptions of- and secrets about- Grand Central Station more than I did the story of Nora and Joe. Their situation was very intriguing but I never really warmed up to either of them. I kept reading as I was interested in knowing how they managed the situation they were in. I liked the decision they made at the end but I'd have liked a lot more detail than we got in the last chapter.
When I first starting hearing about Time After Time, I have to say I was a little hesitant about reading this especially when compared to The Time Traveler's Wife because I loved that book so much. However, after receiving and ARC and then finding it on Modern Mrs. Darcy's Summer Reading Guide I said I am going to give this a shot.

A great read! I wanted to chuck this book at the wall at one point (if you read it, you‘ll know the part) BUT it redeemed itself for me and I enjoyed the twists and turns. I get the ending, I don‘t love the ending, but I get it 👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My Saturday morning summer tradition 🥰 Enjoying the cool breeze, sunshine, and somebody‘s rooster crowing in the distance (I‘m in the suburbs of Chicago, so that‘s fun 😂)

Not my favorite so far from the #mmdsummerreadingguide. It really reminded me of The Time Travelers Wife which was a miss for me as well. Enjoyable, but it won‘t be making my favorites list.
A very interesting story about a young lady named Nora and a young man named Joe. The history of Grand Central Station was pretty neat.
I love this book but it is so hard to classify what kind of book it is. It‘s definitely a love story. I have seen it listed as “time travel“ but I don‘t think that description fits since it is more about someone stuck in time. I‘ve also seen it described as “science fiction“ which totally boggles my mind because I don‘t think there is any way it can be called that. But, whatever you want to call it, it‘s a great story with a great ending.
1. Was so good!
2. Crunchy
3. Sunrise - something hopeful about it
4. Definitely a trip somewhere
5. 4th grade

Lisa Grunwald's Time After Time is a lovely, gentle romance. (Thanks to Sara for the loan!) It's not the people in the novel who create conflict--each is empathetic to the extreme--it's the circumstances. Joe Reynolds works in Grand Central Station, a solid, faithful employee, brother, and son. On December 5, 1937, he glimpses Nora Lansing and feels an instant connection when they meet. And then she disappears. (continued in comments)
It is a love story conquering time and obstacles. Set in 1940‘s Grand Central Station. A great light read for summer vacation. The plot is slow but not boring. I don't like the male lead character, but the female lead is pretty great.

I haven't read in SIX DAYS! It's the first time I haven't had time to finish a library book I was enjoying. I'm back on the hold list, so I will be able to finish it eventually, but I'm still bummed.
And the #EoE #buddyread! 😫 Didn't even get through last week's reading & now we're halfway through this week. I'm hopeful that I'll have a chunk of time tomorrow to at least not fall further behind. I doubt catching up is possible at this point. 😭
I was SO excited for this book. Historical fiction, romance, & fantasy - it sounded right up my alley. I was disappointed. The premise of the novel is extremely clever, but I didn‘t like the execution of it. The characters felt flat to me. There were stretches of the book where I felt quite bored.
With that being said, I liked the ending.
It wasn‘t a bad book. It wasn‘t a great book. I‘m very apathetic about it. I give it a solid 2.5/5 stars.
Great (so far) book that takes place in the 1920/30s at Grand Central Station and gives a great history. Has a nice time traveling component and they in the vein of reading about places I know (see my previous post lol) the main character is frequently in Queens including the town my husband grew up in!
The lack of time I've had for reading these past months (nearly a year! 😯) is starting to make me crazy. I HAVE to finish this by tomorrow as it's a library book and I'm afraid I'm not going to have time. Plus, I'm waaaay behind on the #EoE #buddyread and I really want to try to catch up. 😫 (I totally need to buy a lottery ticket. No job=lots of time to read, I imagine! 🤔)
Oh, this was a fun telling of 20th century spirited time travel or maybe I should say spirited time can‘t-travel. ...And oh my gosh, that beautiful cover is perfect for this story!
Book or debate? (I know myself and the answer is totally gonna be book.)
I started this one today and I really like the descriptive writing and the mystery of Nora's existence.
Pick!
Really enjoyed this unconventional historical love story.
1938 - Nora can‘t leave Grand Central Terminal. Joe, a train leverman, falls in love with her. How can they make a life together?
Nora‘s unusual circumstances and the Depression era / WWII setting made for a very enjoyable story.
Also learned a lot of history about Grand Central Station.

Thanks, LibraryThing!
My ARC finally arrived! 😂👍
I‘m only 24 pages in and am already the smitten Litten. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I simply loved this book. It started off slowly, but as it unfurled and gained momentum, I fell deeper and deeper into its many chasms...an epic supernatural time-travel tale, a complicated and heart wrenching love story, an absorbingly interesting historical spanning from the mid 1920s-1947 and a true celestial/geographical phenomenon that seems more like science fiction...this book covers a lot of territory. And it all takes place in 🔽
Up next, an ARC of an historical fiction novel with an interesting time premise.
Out 6/11
