I did it!!! 4 years, 33 hours of listening, 2 versions, but I did it. This is a beast but can see why it‘s a classic. I feel a lot of it went over my head. I started reading but stalled. Started over as an audio and managed the finish.

I‘m not equipped to judge whether or not this is โthe greatest novel ever writtenโ, as has been alleged. But it did make me think a lot. It covers just about every human emotion in its pages, and many social, religious, and philosophical ideas as well. I‘m glad I read it, but won‘t be rereading it again anytime soon!
Many thanks to @TheBookHippie for hosting the #KareninaWinter buddy read, as I would never, ever have read this on my own.
Completed the Chunkster level for #ChunksterChallenge2025. I‘d give it a pick because it is a story well told (and well translated, if you get the P+V version). I wouldn‘t say it‘s the โgreatest novel of all time,โ as some reviews call it. It does provide an interesting historical context of its time. And now I can finally check it off my list. โ๏ธ

Slowly making my way through this book, and just reached Part 4. Stumbled upon this phrase that made me literally laugh out loud. And also wish I could read Russian so I could enjoy it in the original text. ๐

The first book I‘m tackling this year for the #AllergicToChunksters challenge is Anna Karenina. I‘m reading it for the #KareninaWinter buddy read, hosted by @TheBookHippie and @Librarybelle . I started it in December, and am woefully behind, but loving it.
What will everyone else be starting on? Tagging those who expressed interest, but all are welcome! ๐
After initially feeling totally unable to distinguish between some of the male characters, I am far enough along to feel as if the characters are within my grasp. Only in pg. 91. I have a free period at work(prep) & I have been rewarding myself with reading this text then while my brain is still working! I am beginning to enjoy this novel. #KareninaWinter

A sweeping panoramic view of late 19th-century Russia and the strict confines of noble women. I was surprised to see that Levin was more like Anna than any other character, and the novel was really about both of them, not just Anna. Though a tragic character, Anna was unlikable at times, but perhaps she wouldn't have been if she had lived in the modern era. 4.5/5
A classic on my TBR โฆ this one has deckled edges and French flaps. Thank you Prime Day.
If I remember correctly, there‘s some #Theater scenes in this one or maybe I‘m just influenced by the movie featuring Keira Knightly?

I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the story and the characters. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
So many characters to keep up with, but I can see why this is considered a classic!

The main story is great and maybe one or two of the side plots. But overall, there is way too much going on in this novel and way too many characters to keep track of.

Both relationships in ANNA KARENINA = BAD. #pooranna
"Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
I canโt believe Iโm actually saying this, but as far as Iโm concerned, Anna Karenina is justโฆ fine? It wasnโt the dreadful slog I was worried it might be, but it wasnโt brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same either. If youโre thinking about reading it, go ahead โ thereโs no reason to be afraid. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/anna-karenina-leo-tolstoy-review/
Just finished this awesome bookish puzzle ๐งฉ. I have the first lines mug & when I saw someone on here ๐ค post this puzzle, I had to get one for me, and one for my puzzling book-loving friend Sophie for Christmas โค๏ธ๐๐.
๐. Itโs a book, no no itโs a film. Ok still awesome. https://www.nybooks.com/online/2022/11/22/the-agony-of-sophia-tolstoy/?utm_mediu...
