panThe book started out really good, but quickly lost my attention. I was bored throughout most of it. The storyline was predictable as well. I don't think much of anything was a surprise to me. The ending of the book was really good. I will probably listen to the next book to see what happens, even though this one was so slow. I think the next book should be a little faster since this book really set the stage for it.

I liked the action and the twists in the book. I really want to know more of the magic system and why The Whispers think the King is evil.

This was another I read in pieces because while a girl with the power to steal memories and has memory issues herself is exactly my jam, I find reading about folks who have so few people yo trust so stressful. Really intrigued with where the story ended up and interested to see what happens in the next book.
pickA cool ya set in a dystopia close to Spain in some cultural aspects.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book before starting it, but I can now say Córdova does an amazing job writing Renata the protagonist as a realistic main character. Keeping my fingers crossed for an end that's as good as the beginning.
bailedI wasn't feeling this Audiobook. Sad it sounds.like such a good premise I just couldn't get into it. And I kept missing huge chunks of the story but then some how still knowing what was going on. Just frustrating.

pickFirst in a new YA series. Renata possesses a magic that frightens other people, even among others with powers. She and the other Whispers are trying to bring down the crown, and she finds that she must go undercover to confront her past and show that she can be trusted. I liked the Spanish-based world. A promising start but the in media res beginning meant that the world-building felt incomplete.
pickIncendiary was between a pick and so-so. The pacing was well-balanced between action and suspense. That‘s what kept me turning the page. The character development (uneven) and world-building (not enough) could‘ve been better. I was left with some questions about the world. The magic system was disappointingly bland. 3.5 stars and I‘ll probably read the next book.

I read this in one day! This book is about a group of individuals that have unique magics. The magic is different from other books I've read because they all have a unique gift different from each character. It primarily focuses on the main strong female character that pushes her limits for the power and family bond of the group. Interesting group dynamics during a time of oppression.

pickFinished #1 of my #JoysOfJune readathon hosted by @Andrew65 by reading the second half of this book yesterday. I really enjoyed it though I have a hard time describing it. It wasn't hard to read. Ren was raised in the castle of her enemies to be a weapon, though she didn't know it at the time. She was eventually rescued and shown how the king was killing all of her kind, those with magic.
Started this one a couple days ago. While at first I felt kinda "dropped" into the middle of the story, I'm now almost halfway through and realize that is what the author wanted and you learn the backstory as you progress on.

Reading this ARC and a couple of quick things: I like that the love interest is pre-established going in; it might just be the ARC but some information feels like it‘s skipped over; the villain(s) are just a tad bit confusing right now but I‘m sure it‘ll be cleaned up a little later; I like the magic system and naming system. Pretty cool so far, though it‘s taking me longer than it should to read.
Recovering from a wisdom tooth surgery and having lots of time in bed—which would be nice if I wasn‘t in a ton of pain and felt super loopy. Have to return to work tomorrow and not feeling fully recovered just yet. 😖
