This book was surprisingly good. The plot was well constructed and the romance was on fleek! I liked the world building of victorian England, and the magical element of it. I think the descriptions were a bit lacking at times, and the ending was slightly anti climatic, however I still throughly enjoyed this book and am very excited to read book 2!
I've been quite excited to read this, I'm a couple chapters in and already love the sarcastic main character, Evelyn, the charming friend Nicholas Kent, and the mysterious Sebastian Braddock 🧡 A swoon worthy mystery laced with magic 🥰🔮
A YA trilogy I picked up because of pretty covers. It reminds me very much of The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman, with a twist of X-men like superpowers. It took me about a 1/3 of the 1st book to get into it as it was very simply written & the story does not really start off strong. Still it was a decent 3 ⭐ read for the series. The main character did annoy me through part of book 2 into book 3 with her self pitying but she redeems herself.
Loved this trilogy! I will say the third one is a bit of a let down after the first two but overall I highly recommend! Especially if you love dark Victorian tales filled with magic like me. You should also listen to the audiobook versions! Unfortunately only one and two exist. They never recorded book three 😞

Long time since an update, huh?
This book was okay. I can't say too many bad things, or good things, for that matter. My main complaint with this book was that something about the pacing was... off. I couldn't form a connection with the characters. I got confused about who was who and the main character had no personality.
However, it was a good book. I'm pretty content with it, but I don't know if I'll read the sequel.
I really tried to like this one y‘all! I had about 90 pages left and finally decided to bail. Just couldn‘t connect or get into this one for whatever reason, but still had fun reading along with you all!!! @Shadowfat it‘s in the mailbox on the way back to you! 😊 #lmpbc @kellyann28 @Johanna414
This wasn‘t amazing, but it was still a fun story and I enjoyed it. I bought the second book hoping the authors start to flesh out the world building a little more. I‘ll be sending it along after the weekend, as soon as I can get it back from Nina who told me “NO” when I just tried to grab it.

Hiding in the back of the library with my book and iced coffee as its being used for testing all day. I think I‘ll finish this today or tomorrow and then pass it along. I‘m enjoying it! @TheBookKeepers @kellyann28 @Shadowfat #lmpbc
Annoyed with my husband for falling asleep on the couch while I put the kids to bed on literally his only night off this week. I keep trying to tell myself that it‘s extra reading time for me, but I‘m still annoyed. So I‘m going to sit here, eat candy, read, and pout.
I forgot to post when this got delivered a few days ago... sorry! I‘ve for a few minutes before I have to pick up the kids so I‘m going to start it now. @Shadowfat @kellyann28 @TheBookKeepers #lmpbc
@johanna414 I sent next month's #LMPBC to you! I forgot to take a picture of it so here is a picture of our mailbox in the distance 😂 @shadowfat @TheBookKeepers
Finished my #LMPBC for this month! This was a so-so for me. I wanted to give it a thumbs up, but I juuuust couldn't quite get there. Definitely some good ideas going on in this one, though. I will probably get it in the mail next week sometime. @Johanna414 @TheBookKeepers @Shadowfat
Got some #LMPBC mail today! Going to start on this one in a day or two :) @Shadowfat @TheBookKeepers @Johanna414
I liked this more than I thought I would! It reminds me of a more discreet version of the X-Men in Victorian England. It's on the way to you @kellyann28 ! #lmpbc group g @Johanna414 @TheBookKeepers
I was thinking of choosing one of these for my #lmpbc group g pick. Thoughts? @Johanna414 @TheBookKeepers @kellyann28
A fun little listen while I putter and prepare for company. Thanks for the rec, @SassenachTheBookWizard 😊
Done! I enjoyed this one. Me. Kent is hilarious! I like the way he and Ms. Windham banter. A sister is kidnapped, powers are revealed, and a rescue is mounted and carried out. Fun and enjoyable! Starting “Winter now”.
Starting this one. I did not realize it was a series when I bought it. Hope I like it.
Yup! I still love this series! Book two is even better so I'm. Beyond gitty right now to pick up the sequel soon
Does anyone else have a hard time concentrating in public? I was trying to read yesterday while keeping watch over some people moving a relatives belongings. Actually, this entire month has been one distraction after another and I'm so ready for it to be over! I really want to read this book!

Even though my attention span was quite lacking in the reading department this week, this novel was a quick read! Full of fun sassy and stubborn characters (oddly reminds me of my best friend) this takes you on a ride to save a kidnapped sister before it‘s too late! Quoted as being a cross between a Jane Austen novel and X-Men, this novel was a nice breath of fresh air for me 👌🏼
Hehe there are TONS of great sentences and paragraphs that are clever and funny, but this one made me giggle this morning 😂📖 #currentread #finallyfinishingthisbook
So does anyone else get so excited to read, just to... not read? That‘s been my week 🙃 I have about 3 hours daily I could be reading, and I find myself doing everything but; but luckily I am back to it on lunch!📖 #procrastination #currentlyreading
So this first page is BEAUTIFUL and cracked me up! Can‘t wait to dive into this story; it‘s only been sitting on my shelves since, idk, 2016😅📖 #currentread #mountTBR #tbr #TheseViciousMasks
I was #audio opening this morning and my candy cart was so aestheticly pleasing I had to document it 😍😍😍 #ListenWhileYouWork
The wit and dry, quick humor in the dialogue of this book was delicious. While there were some plot holes and pieces that were a tad cliche, I didn't see the end coming and I really liked the main character in this. I'll read the other two for sure. ⭐⭐⭐ and a half out of 5!
"I don't need a hero. But I could never love a man who would not be my ally."
"We do not remain the same each minute to the next. Every word you hear, every sight you see, every smell, every thought you have, every moment - it all changes you. We keep putting on mask after mask, layers over layers."
Always cuddling a babe on my lap while reading and enjoying some wine. 👶 🍷 📚 ❤
Here I go with my next #pop18 pick! #steampunk #popsugarreadingchallenge
X-Men meets Jane Austen. Sold.
I wanted to like this more than I did. But I still liked it enough to continue on with the series. The narration of the audio wasn't great, and I am wondering if that detracted from the story? I will be reading the rest of the series in print.
Austen + X-Men = ❤️🖤 #eyes #150pnpcoverparty
The perfect mix of #mystery, #suspense, #supernatural and #romance were the catalyst for this delightful and entertaining read! It's a #historicalfantasyfiction set in #England 1882. Truth be told, I almost DNF this book. It was rather slow-paced for me in the beginning and I just couldn't get into it. Jaw-dropped, flabbergasted and book hangover when I finished this book!

I really need to read at least half of this book tonight! It's a pretty interesting read but somewhat slow paced. Anyone read this book? Please share your thoughts 😊

I started this book about 10 months ago and only got to page 52 before stopping. Even though I liked it, life just got in the way of me finishing it. But I read the rest today in one sitting, and it was amazing! I love the dynamic between Evelyn and the others with powers. But I can‘t decide which guy I want her to end up with... Either way, this book is awesome! Now I have to read the second one before the third one comes out next month!
I wasn't totally sure what to expect from this book but it was so weird in a good way. the powers seemed so normal in the society (not massive fantasy vibes with the history even though it was there.) I'm so interested in all the different powers! Keep trying to decide which one I would want. I really loved Evelyn but I found the male leads to be almost interchangable making it hard to keep them as separate characters.
After yesterday successes, I'm reaching for my other historical fiction paperbacks with curious covers! 🤞🤞🤞🤞
I cannot even put into words how much I loved this book!! I read it in almost one sitting and as soon as I was done I was looking it up on Goodreads. The very best thing? There are more!!! I'm so excited to dive back into this world. I love the characters and I am hopelessly split on this damn love triangle. ❤ Sebastian AND Nick
Had a quiet morning the other day after an eye appt. I'm further in this book now because I can NOT put it down! Seriously amazing. Had I not worked alllll day yesterday I would have finished it. I can't wait to get back to it. Seriously, if you like Jane Austen and a little bit of supernatural mystery. This is 100% a must read. #BooksAndBreakfast #Crepes
#Riotgram DAY 3: THREE WORD TITLES— a little something for everyone!!
This book was just what I needed this weekend. The best way I can describe it is Heroes (the t.v. Series) set in Victorian London. There was nothing too original here, but it was a fun, quick read. I want more.
I've read quite a few heavy books in a row and decided I needed something a little fun. Thanks @ElizaTodd for including this in the #summersantagoespostal box! I'm about 60 pages in and loving it so far. 😊
Looove this series! Just a little hand lettering for my favorite character 😊

I really enjoyed this book. It is a first in a series. I liked the first book, but I don't know if I will continue on with this series. It's a mystical look in Victorian England. This is my favorite reading era, but this first book didn't hook me enough to continue this series and to see what happens to Evelyn and her friends.
