I read this book 22 yrs ago and didn‘t remember anything, other than what I remembered from movies. This book is so delightful and cozy and better this time around. I love everything in it 🤍

1. It‘s actually a kitchen knife set my nan left me when she passed away. It‘s in a block and so pretty, I never use it. She had it as a wedding gift over 79 years ago.
2. I love the tagged book and told my daughter to read it. She‘s now a fan of the book too. Important messages throughout and I think all high school students should read it.
Thank you for the tag @Eggs @TheSpineView 💕
Been meaning to read this for many many years and finally finished ❤️. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love reading Little Women at this time of year, but it‘s too long for me to actually manage that very often, so I‘ve taken to picking one of the film adaptations to watch each year instead.
Another one of those books that I should have read ages ago! Ready to meet the March sisters!
This is also my March #doublespin

#ThatsClassic - November - Book Two: Little Women - This just didn‘t happen last month. No reason. No excuses. I bought it a few months ago. I liked the book cover. I wanted to reread it before watching the movie. I had a few days off from work. Thanksgiving dinner was a small affair with no extended family or friends. The governor re-established the Stay-At-Home Order. I felt well-rested. So what was the deal? I think I got my agenda mixed up!🥴
I loved this book, but I don't think I would have if I hadn't watched the movie first. Too many things about being a proper women for me. Jo seemed less boisterous and more apologetic, the romance with Mr. Brook and Meg was less... romantic. I loved Amy's character development and personality so much more in the book though. The book is so long and has so many more details, you get to know the characters more personally than the movie.
Day 2 of the pubs being shut. Chadderton Hall Park. Social distancing being observed and that's hand sanitiser in the tub, disinfected the table too. #BooksAndBooze
Celebrating a passed test (not mine; my SO‘s) tonight with some wine and words. 😁
I finished this earlier in the week. This story is well know, we meet sisters Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth in their everyday life during the Civil War. They are living in genteel poverty and have to do everything themselves and the two oldest work outside the home as well.
I loved part 1 where the sisters are all together and in their teens. Part 2 is good, but didn‘t move me in the same way, even if it made me cry.

I‘ve some days of work at the end of the week so I hope to get in more reading than usual

🎧 The third Department Q book, I hope to get in some hours of listening
At three o‘clock in the afternoon, all the fashionable world at Nice may be seen on the Promenade des Anglais - a charming place; for the wide walk, bordered with palms, flowers, and tropical shrubs, is bounded on one side by the sea, on the other by the grand drive, lined with hotels and villas, while beyond lie orange orchards and the hills. Many nations are represented, many languages spoken, many costumes worn;

Gossip
In order that we may start afresh […], it will be well to begin with a little gossip about the Marches. And here let me promise, that if any of the elders think there is too much “lovering” in the story, as I fear they may (I‘m not afraid the young folks will make that objection), I can only say with Mrs. March, “What can you expect when I have four gay girls in the house, and a dashing young neighbor over the way?”

“Christmas won‘t be Christmas without any presents,” grumbled Jo, lying on the rug.

What a great introduction to Little Women.
The pink underlining is from S. de Beauvoir and I‘m gonna guess that I‘m not the only one that would love a character that loves to read.
The purple underlining was news to me, I thought it had been a classic for forever.
And the green underlining shows the difference between female and male understanding of the novel and its influence on them.
Next up.
If I remember correctly I read a Norwegian translation of this in my teens.

Grab a tiny hat and quit whatever committees you might be in, because this week on the Podcast we‘re talking the Romance Writers of America scandal and all of our favorite things about Greta Gerwig‘s Little Women. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!
I saw the movie & was surprised by how much I enjoyed this new adaptation. It sticks quite close to the original, making a few cinematic changes like starting at the end & showing pieces of the story out of sequence in flashbacks, dressing Amy & most of the young women at a Parisian back in black, or making Jo‘s professor notably younger. But the caliber of the acting was fantastic & showcased some young faces who promise to have exciting careers.
I started reading this Christmas present for the first time a few days ago! Slightly ashamed I haven‘t read it before but I think it‘s not as widely read in England - I think the first time I heard about it was in Friends when Rachel‘s reading it! 😂
I am not allowing myself to see the film before I‘ve finished the book! 💪🏻😂
I am loving it so far! Love the characters! And such a pretty version 😍
I‘m not going to lie - I‘m struggling with this one. I just find it a bit dull. I always finish books so I shall trudge on, but please tell me if the second half gets more interesting!
And he was listening when I said I wanted to read this before watching the film.
Merry Christmas to me! Found this little gem in our local antique store. #littlewomen #whitmanpublishing

Kaysen Emory turns 4 this weekend. For her 4 year photos she is Jo from #LittleWomen and I love how so many of the pictures turned out, but these three were some of my faves. She can pick out A-E by looking at them and we are slowly learning the rest and their sounds as well. ❤️ she is a big helper around the house and she is excited for her Toy Story party.
