The Little Prince (Illustrated)
The Little Prince (Illustrated) | Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
"The Little Prince" (French: "Le Petit Prince"), first published in 1943, is a novella, the most famous work of the French aristocrat, writer, poet, and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900–1944). The novella is the fourth most-translated book in the world and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects (as well as Braille), selling nearly two million copies annually with sales totaling over 140 million copies worldwide, it has become one of the best-selling books ever published. After the outbreak of the Second World War Saint-Exupéry was exiled to North America. In the midst of personal upheavals and failing health, he produced almost half of the writings for which he would be remembered, including a tender tale of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss, in the form of a young prince fallen to Earth. An earlier memoir by the author had recounted his aviation experiences in the Sahara Desert, and he is thought to have drawn on those same experiences in "The Little Prince". Since its first publication in the United States, the novella has been adapted to numerous art forms and media, including audio recordings, radio plays, live stage, film screen, television, ballet, and operatic works.

Some light reading for tomorrow, after the darkness in today‘s read.

Clare-Dragonfly Well… I guess this is lighter than a book about the Japanese internment camps! 3d
Darklunarose @Clare-Dragonfly it wouldn‘t take a lot to be lighter. Humans and history can be really confronting. 2d

I‘ve been working on my French and decided to read this novella again.

âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸

I had to look up a lot of words but thankfully kindle makes it easy. A lovely story, but sad.

Anyone have any recommendations for adult beginner/intermediate French books?

JamieArc Check out Marc Levy‘s books! 2w
Kitta Will do thanks @JamieArc! 2w
Dilara Sous béton by Karoline Georges is short and written in simple French. It is dystopic and unsettling, but it is learner-friendly ðŸ˜

The story was simple yet complex. The analogies of life and the differences between children and grown ups I felt were very true. As an adult sometimes it feels like the world loses some of its magic when you are doing an everyday routine. Exploring and learning new things is still very important (ex: hobbies and self care.). This book reminded me that it is never to late to keep discovering yourself as a person.

The Little Prince is probably not a children‘s book, but more a teen‘s book, and a book for adults who need to remember the child inside them. A pop-up book is fun for all ages!
The story of how to tame a fox is very important! As is the scary drawing at the beginning.

Here‘s my first #MiddleGradeMarch book. It is for the prompt “a book older than me.†I listened to the audiobook and I am so glad I did because the narrator was French which was delightful for me to hear. My father taught me a few words in French, then I studied it in school/college. I loved this book! In our French class, we have to make presentations about French culture and of course, I picked a book as the subject for my presentation. Technically, I didn‘t need to read the book but I‘m so thankful that I did because I loved it. The way it was written was wonderful and though I never read this book as a child, it gave me a strange but great sense of nostalgia.
