Book 3/40 of 2025 ✨
I can‘t even imagine going through what these families experienced.I was a military wife whose husband was deployed to the Middle East. Many of the occurrences described in this book could have happened.Thankfully they did not.I liked how the husband and wife‘s lives came together in order to get Jolene the help that she needed. This story is inspirational. It talks of deployment from a different angle.Reading it helped me to bette understand PTSD
I cannot speak to whether any of the book was an accurate portrayal of military or military families, but i found it to be an engaging story, and I could relate to the struggles of managing a career and a family. I found this to be a solid read.
How did I miss this book from Kristin Hannah? This may be my new favorite read from her. Jo comes from a broken home and joins the military and trains to fly the Blackhawk helicopters in the military. She is called to service leaving her children and her husband behind. This book does not get political but greatly shows us how our veterans should be treated during and especially after coming back from war. Five ⭐️ salute! 🇺🇸
Plus the 8 hours I did yesterday during the day. So I‘m at 24 currently. I am not sure how much time i will have tomorrow. #mbcreadathon #mbcfrogreadathon9
I accidentally deleted my first two 🤦♀️🤦♀️ but heres where im at since last night. I think its like 13 hours total.

5/5
A remarkable story of a military family after a mother is deployed to Iraq. Hannah put a "mammoth" of research into this novel so she could accurately portray the emotions and experiences of her characters. I am left feeling such admiration and empathy for our warriors and their families!
"I love you to the moon and back."
I might have to steal this saying for my little one.
We read his new highlights magazine before bed. I love our snuggle sessions. It didn't take long for him to doze off this time.
Now, I'm off to bed and reaching for my earbuds. The last Hannah novel I read, The Great Alone, had me quite the same!
How are y'all tonight?
This book is teaching me. It's incredible how a person can know without really knowing. I grew up close to a military base, I went to school with kids of military families, I've dated military men, some of my closest girlfriends are military wives. When I was working as a mental health counselor, I had veteran clients suffering from crippling PTSD and TBI's. I have heard their stories, yet nothing has grown my awareness quite like this book. Whew!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ With her marriage to Michael on the rocks, Jolene is deployed to Iraq to fight a war that Michael does not support. Kristin Hannah does an amazing job of writing this family‘s story. This book once again tears out your heart, but you love it anyway.
I have never tried one of Hannah's books but this one is amazing. She reminds me of Jodi Picoult and Lisa Scottoline. I am halfway through it and can't put it down. I definitely support the troops that are fighting for our country!
Jolene is about to go off to war and leave her two daughters and husband behind, and what makes matters even worse is that her husband just told her he doesn‘t love her anymore.
Is their marriage over? Is this their breaking point?
But going off to war changes everything, and Jolene will need her family more than ever when she returns home.
I have read a few Kristin Hannah books by this point, and this is one of her best.

My little home 🏡 There is a book on the porch, Home Front! I love to sit in my rocking chair and read ❤️
This wasn't my favorite Kristin Hannah. I guess I didn't quite connect with this one although I have a great appreciation for those that are in the military and the struggles they and their families face. I don't directly have close family in the military so this didn't tug at my heart strings as it would many others. A heavy novel for sure though. #bookspinbingo

Started this one this morning. I had a couple digital holds become available, but they're reserved for October's spooky reads. I settled on this instead, I've always been a fan of Kristin Hannah. #bookspinbingo
I have about 5 stacks of books around house

So far I haven‘t met a Kristin Hannah book I haven‘t liked. This was a heartbreaking story about family, friendship, the military and PTSD and healing.
Book 9 for #bookspinbonanza @TheAromaofBooks

In the middle of their emotional distance and looming divorce, Jolene is sent to the war in Iraq. It‘s heartbreaking.

I liked most parts of this novel of an Iraqi war vet and her family: discussion of PTSD, military families, friendships, and forgiveness. I didn‘t care for: stereotypical characters (teen daughter being melodramatic ALL the time- unfair to girls), the way the family talked to each other, and the Lifetime Movie feel of the book. Overall, it‘s a good read, but not this author‘s best.
I really liked this book but it isn‘t my favorite one by this author. I don‘t know why. I just couldn‘t connect like I usually do with her books. But still a great book with great characters.
Another winner for author Hannah! I'm wrecked 😭 but it was so good
It‘s been two months. I‘m in South Korea with my husband, the dust is settling. I finished Home Front not knowing it was about the military and I loved it! There were times Logan overheard the audiobook and was intrigued at times and it opened a dialogue about his military career he is pursuing. #readingandcrossstitching #militaryspouse
Oh my! This book was an emotional roller coaster. I was on the verge of tears for most of the book. I couldn‘t wait to find out what was next. The author did a great job of making the reader feel hurt, love, brokenness, betrayal, regret, sorrow, loss, hope, determination, failure and triumph. ❤️
My goodness this book was intense, I spent almost the entire time I listened to it holding back tears #2018 #yearofbooks #intense
Not so much a #shelfie as a picture of the books on top of the piano... this is where I keep books given or loaned to me by friends, to shame and remind myself to read the damn things. 😳
The books piled on top are some of my tbr for September.
#SIsForSeptember
As the mom is a 14 month old, I don‘t get much time to myself to sit and read. In this instance I‘m okay with it. I am loving this book. And I am getting to savor it for a looooong time 🤷🏼♀️
Not the tagged book as this isn‘t in the database yet. This was an Audible special awhile back. It is living history as people living through that time give their thoughts. Excellent way to remember those who fought for freedom.
Book mail 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Another of Hannah's books that just wrecked me. Emotional and well-written. It was a struggle not to cry while reading it, as I was doing so at work. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Just finished this incredible book with my online book club!
I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a feel good book.

On Facebook, and I will add you right in :) happy reading!
I give this one a solid GOOD! I wasn't blown away but I did listen to it in 2 days (at work and during every spare moment I had) so that says something. Very well researched and very emotional. Kristin Hannah is amazing!!!
Up next! Picking ebooks off my TBR shelves; it feels good to read things I've been holding onto forever, but wow I have a lot of books I'd forgotten about.
Another stellar novel. This one gutted me and left me sobbing.
An audiobook makes raking not so bad. Add in the 70 degree weather and I might offer to rake the neighbor's yard too 😁
Heavy. Controversial? Political? Important. Very well researched. Wanted a bit more of the second half of the PTSD and oldest daughter arcs. Interview with Kristin Hannah was interesting. Cover choice is baffling. Best guess is that it is the final scene.
So many feels! A well written book that I was sad to see end.
