Feels like a classic! Beautiful slim novel following a shipwrecked robot just trying to make sense of the world and make friends. Thanks for the recommendations here on Litsy, and I‘ll be sure to recommend this to my middle schoolers. 💗🤖🪿🌲

Listened to this on audio and liked it. It was a very sweet and simple story with a heartfelt lesson or two.
My first book to celebrate Middle Grade March! 💚
Such a sweet story! 💚
This MG book about a robot who becomes a parent to a goose was adventurous and heartfelt. It explores how humans and climate change are both altering the natural world, but it does so in a very accessible way to younger readers.
I'll admit though, the end got a little futuristic by comparison to the rest, and now I'm curious to see what unfolds in the next book.
The illustrations were also lovely.
I had fun shopping for my niece's bday and, of course, had to read the book! It's a delightful story, and I appreciated the humanity the author instills in Roz and the lessons about nature and adapting to a new environment.
I've been reading this with the kids at bedtime for a couple months. We maxed out our renewals at tbe library because we only read a few pages a night after a few picture books. Nina cried when I told her it would have to go back to the library soon, because she wanted to "keep reading it forever." So naturally I bought a copy to keep ? I think its safe to say they loved it! #raisingreaders
So enjoyed reading these books with my grandson. Whoever thought books about a robot could be so emotional 🥲? Good lessons about kindness and finding family and belonging. 4/5🤖s
Day one of summer vacay and this kid has already started his summer reading! #raisingreaders
This was a very cute middle grade read. The book covers a lot of nature related topics such as life cycles, migration, and animal behaviors. I will probably suggest this to my daughter when she's a bit older!
Read the first of these 2 books for a Nature read for #Hikeathon and HAD to read the sequel to find out what happened to ROZ, the Wild Robot! The story fed the geeky part of my brain and also warmed the mother in me. That‘s all I will say, but you should listen/read these. The narrator was fantastic, too. #46 & #47 #BookSpin #24 & #25 #BFC22 #SERIES2022 #Pantone2022Colour Loden Frost & Chiseled Stone #Hikeathon #MiddleGradeReads
Some of the children saw me reading this and were very happy. Such a sweet book. There are some emotionally scary parts for younger readers.
This was a little surprise! A friend recommended it to me after she read it to her family as a read-aloud, and it did not disappoint. It‘s such a different type of story, in a good way, and I loved how bite-sized the chapters are…good for a busy family to work in here and there. My kids definitely want the sequel.

“Hello, I‘m Rozzum unit 7134, but you may call me Roz.”
Roz awakes (after curious otters push the button on the back of her head) to find she is on an island. She doesn‘t know where she is from, but begins to explore and learn. Initially the animals distrust Roz, but through kindness she makes friends. She finds family and a home in the wild, until a past she is unaware of catches up to her.
These were so enjoyable! 💗
Read with my youngest for homeschool. We loved it and wanted to read more so we are glad there is a sequel. #19822022 #2016 @Librarybelle
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 317.

I finished the book from my TBR, but ran out of time with my audiobook. I would have been fine but my husband decided he wanted to watch something with me. 🤷♀️ I am happy with my outcome.

Roz the robot washes up on shore of an island full of animals. The animals are scared of the robot at first, but eventually they befriend her when she starts to raise a baby goose. This middle grade book is so adorable and the sketches are amazing. This little robot had some much emotion! It was perfect. Great book.
Reading/Discussing books with my 9 year old daughter gives me such joy. We LOVED this one and can‘t wait to start the next. Highly recommend it for your littles!
Finished this one on Friday, but I really didn‘t know how I felt about it.
It‘s a middle grade book that will expose them to the reality that different doesn‘t always mean bad or dangerous. It also touches upon the chosen family, finding one‘s purpose, and love and kindness.
I will be reading book 2 soon.

This was a sweet read and perfect for middle schoolers to explore themes of difference, family, friendship and feelings. Simple, accessible language which is enriched by crafted sentence structures. You end up caring for Roz, the robot, and I definitely want to discover out what becomes of her in the sequel.
When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is alone on an island. Why is she there? Where did she come from? And how will she survive? Roz's only hope is to learn from the island's hostile animals. When she tries to care for an orphaned gosling, the other animals decide to help, and the island starts to feel like home. Until one day, her mysterious past comes back to haunt her.... #wild #boundtogetherjune
After hearing me praise this novel, my children asked me to read it aloud to them, which gave me a chance to notice this: "shimmied" where it should be "shinnied." *sigh* Still a good book and very fun to read aloud, just diminished a little in my eyes.
Friendship, family, trust, risk-taking, courage, climate change, life, death, fire safety---this utopian middle-grade novel hits them all. It's a delightful combination of whimsy and existentialism, and a whole lot of animals and robots just doing what has to be done. This novel made me think of the old cars and appliances discarded along a hiking trail on former farmland near our house in Massachusetts. It was harder to spot in summertime.
And now for something completely different...
I know there are otters in this one, and presumably a robot, but hopefully it will give me a break from books about mental illness and child abuse and white supremacists.
Finally reading this popular book and reading it with one of my favourite kids. 🥰 The short chapters are exactly what he needs to be motivated to move from more graphic novels / short text to more sustained reading. #proudmama #familyofreaders #booksbindus
This book is amazing! I‘ve spent the past 3 weeks reading this aloud to my 2nd graders and we loved it. It started off slow, but we all became so invested in this robot and her friends and family. Many tears were shed and we can‘t wait to read The Wild Robot Escapes. #readaloud
A very cute book about a robot stranded on an island, who learns to be wild with the help of the many animals who eventually accept her. The occasional illustrations throughout were really lovely, and I especially enjoyed the exploration of found family and friendship. Took me a few chapters to really get into it, but once Roz adopted a baby goose I was completely sold.
Been obsessed with this cover art forever and now finally reading it
#30JuneBooks - Wild Books: Truth...I like reading children‘s literature. It‘s not usually weighed down by the complications of romance or the blasé weariness of an overexposed-done-everything living or the complexity of adulting. It‘s usually just a story reminding the reader that there is a way to still believe that there could be magic, pirates, flying cars, dragons, talking animals, robots & many more fantastical beings. I believe. I believe...
When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is alone on a remote island. Why is she there? Where did she come from? And, most important, how will she survive in her harsh surroundings? Roz's only hope is to learn from the island's hostile animal inhabitants. When she tries to care for an orphaned gosling, the other animals finally decide to help, and the island starts to feel like home.

5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Wonderful middle grade book about friendship and family. Roz is feared by the wild animals until she begins to help them one by one and they learn to trust and love her.
Super cute and touching story of a lost robot who learns to be wild and a mother from the creatures of the forest.

This semester I did my service learning in a 3rd grade classroom. I saw this book sitting on one of the students desk, and the first thing I thought was “I didn‘t know Peter Brown wrote novels!” So I picked it up and decided to give it a try. This SF novel is great! I‘m not a fan of science so this definitely took me by surprise. There was a shipwreck, and all the robots didn‘t make it, but Roz did. She finds herself on an island thinking that‘s
🤖🌳 You may know Peter Brown for his amazing illustrations from Creepy Carrots or Mr. Tiger Goes Wild, but The Wild Robot shows a different side of his work. This SF novel is about a robot, named Roz 7134, who becomes stranded on an island due to a shipwreck. It was one of the 2017-2018 Sunshine State Young Reader books! #LAE3414sp19
I finished this with my class today and it was bittersweet because my kids were totally enthralled! Such a moving story. I think it‘s perfect for teachers of upper elementary. Also perfect for humans who are not teachers! 😄
January stats. I‘m cheating a little because this assumes I‘ll finish The Secret Place today. 🤞🏻#time to read
I am positively obsessed with this book!! I‘m using it as a 3rd grade read aloud and it‘s super philosophical and brings up so many deep questions! It‘s pushing me AND my students in the best possible ways!

An excellent way to bring children into the joys of Sci-Fi! In addition to the inclusion of female animal characters (and robots), the book‘s compelling story of exploration and the nature of growth, life, and death will open the door to powerful conversations with children and adults alike!
Can‘t believe I waited so long to finally sit down and finish this one! I loved Roz the robot and all the woodland creatures! This would be a great family or classroom read-aloud.
This was a cute book. There were pretty big questions that were never answered. It is apparently the first in a series. This book celebrates friendship, learning, survival, and responsibility. It was slow and i am not sure how well it would hold a kids attention. However, it is an interesting take on the “survival” tale.
We loved this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I totally cried at the end.
