Fool's Quest: Book II of the Fitz and the Fool trilogy | Robin Hobb
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY BUZZFEED AND THE INDEPENDENT Ranking alongside George R. R. Martin as a groundbreaking master of fantasy,Robin Hobb delivers the second book in her long-awaited Fitz and the Fool trilogy. The harrowing adventures of FitzChivalry Farseer and his enigmatic friend the Fool continue in Robin Hobbs triumphant follow-up to Fools Assassin. But Fools Quest is more than just a sequel. With the artistry and imagination her fans have come to expect, Hobb builds masterfully on all that has gone before, revealing devastating secrets and shocking conspiracies that cast a dark shadow over the history of Fitz and his worlda shadow that now stretches to darken all future hope.Long ago, Fitz and the Fool changed the world, bringing back the magic of dragons and securing both the Farseer succession and the stability of the kingdom. Or so they thought. But now the Fool is near death, maimed by mysterious pale-skinned figures whose plans for world domination hinge upon the powers the Fool may share with Fitzs own daughter.Distracted by the Fools perilous health, and swept up against his will in the intrigues of the royal court, Fitz lets down his guard . . . and in a horrible instant, his world is undone and his beloved daughter stolen away by those who would use her as they had once sought to use the Foolas a weapon. But FitzChivalry Farseer is not without weapons of his own. An ancient magic still lives in his veins. And though he may have let his skills as royal assassin diminish over the years, such things, once learned, are not so easily forgotten. Now enemies and friends alike are about to learn that nothing is more dangerous than a man who has nothing left to lose.Praise for Fools Quest A complex tapestry of adventure, betrayal, destiny, and unrelenting peril . . . No one can quite torture her characters (especially Fitz) - and her readers - quite like Robin Hobb. As usual, Fitz is full of plans but, alas, life intervenes. But he's back with the Fool and searching for little Bee.

This was pure agony in the most wonderful way. Fitz spends most of this book feeling miserable and frustrated. So consequently, so did I. Thanks Robin Hobb 😜
Come on, Fitz! Go get em already!
Next up is the last book in the series. I‘m not sure I‘m emotionally strong enough to handle whatever is coming. But I can‘t look away. So onward we go!

#20series20days @Andrew65

I‘ve seen several other people chime in on these books already, and I have to add myself to the fandom. I love Robin Hobb! I haven‘t read the whole series. I‘d guess I‘m about halfway through them. And I obviously like picking up used copies, as most of them don‘t match. But yeah, if epic fantasy is your thing, you can‘t go wrong with Robin Hobb!

Andrew65 Great choices, I am up to Mad Ship. 4y

Songsofhome It is waiting for me and besides of the fact that i should reread the first part, i should also be as childless as possible for the second because it's the kind of author that makes the stories absorb you... 7y

All I can say is I'm glad I have the last book because what a cliffhanger! So many emotions and ideas swirling around in my head from this one. Robin Hobb really knows how to write, she's a world apart from anything else I have ever read.

So next on my list of books to finish is Fool's Quest by Robin Hobb. 80% of the way through. Part of me is really reluctant to finish it though, as then I'll be on the last book, Assassin's Fate. I've already cried my eyes out several times at this and Fool's Assassin. I also don't want the story to end 😢.

This book like Fool's Assassin before it has broken my heart so many times. Part of me is dreading reading Assassin's Fate.
If you're thinking of reading these books, do it. You will fall in love with Fitz and The Fool. Never have 2 characters seemed as real to me as those two. Everytime I read about The Fool he seems so real as to be sat opposite me when I lift my eyes from the page.

As slow as the first book was this one ripped along at a much better pace and I enjoyed it a lot more now that all the setup was out of the way. I love love loved the ballroom/party scene - I never thought or expected that to happen. Old characters making an appearance was amazing, with one in particular wrenching my heart all over again. A great read and I can't wait to be destroyed by book 3. #romansty #osrbc

Robin Hobb is so damned good at middle books. This one brings a ton of secrets to light, ups the tension by thrusting everyone into new roles, and ends in a hell of a place. Yet another Robin Hobb book that has made me cry - she's so good at making you empathise with Fitz, and when something actually genuinely good happens to him, it tips me into a flood of tears for him. An awful lot of the bad stuff that happens is of his own making, so it's wonderful to have the positive payoff every now & then. This installment of his & Fool's journey together is much more gripping than the first installment of this trilogy.
