 pick
pickA lady left with only half a soul by the High Fae meets a grumpy sorcerer with a heart of gold in this utterly charming and delightfully unexpected Regency-era fairy tale. Sorcery, social justice, slowburn romance, found family, and an encouraging message about what makes life worth living in an unjust society makes this highly recommended for fans of The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst, Uprooted by Naomi Novik, & The Midnight Bargain by C. L. Polk!

I loved this! Regency fantasy romance? Just stop right there.
It had some of the swooniest romance scenes while also letting the fantastical & historical elements shine, too.
Dora was such a lovable character, and I am looking forward to more from Atwater 😍

 pick
pickWhat an emotional tale with lots of life revelations! This was such a great buildup to the main characters realizing their emotions for each other and identifying them. I could empathize on many levels with Dora and her lack of being able to show proper emotions for the situation. And oh my gosh Lord Sorcier is downright handsomely delicious with his heartfelt sympathy! He had me swooning at several instances 🥰

 pick
pickColour me absolutely delighted with this whimsical regency fairytale!
The audiobook kept me company during a particularly dreary workweek. I‘ve found a new favourite author for sure. I absolutely enjoyed every moment with Dora and Elias.
🤍🤍🤍

 pick
pickLoved this one! Another cozy fantasy read full of magic and that witty bantering between characters that I enjoy. Imagine putting Emily Wilde in the Bridgerton world.
I'm looking forward to reading more of this series!

 pick
pickHalf a Soul by Olivia Atwater is a very sweet and charming regency romance with just a bit of fantasy involved. The ending was satisfying, despite the small bumps it took to get there. I definitely think this would be a great read for young adult, and clean romance readers, especially those that love historical/regency period pieces.

pickCatch-up post #6: This was another delightful novella in the same world as Half a Soul. It gives more background on one of the main characters. I had to sign up for the author‘s newsletter to get a copy. Well worth the time.

 pick
pickCatch-up post #4: this novella is not in the database. It was included as an afterword with Half a Soul and gives some background for two of the main characters. I was happy to read it as I wasn‘t ready to leave this world.

 pick
pickCatch-up post #3: This was my #LMPBC pick for this round. Now, likely on its way to its third reader. I really enjoyed it! So much so that I have read two novellas in the same series and am excited I got the other two books for Christmas. @Readergrrl @BeckyWithTheGoodBooks @Endowarrior21 @suvata

It finally arrived! Just in time for Christmas, so lots of quiet time by the fireplace for reading! Perfect! @BookishBelle I think I know what caused its delay. I can see it was meant to arrive weeks ago, but unfortunately, it looks like the package received some damage in transit: crushed cardboard and retaped shut, but just marginal water stains on the book. This little novel has had quite the journey! Time to give it some love! #LMPBC #Round19

 pick
pickI really enjoyed this! I felt a bit let down by Emily Wilde and all the hype but Half a Soul delivered for me in a way I cannot fully articulate. I love a regency romance (usually more so on screen then on the page) and these characters were a joy to hang out with.
The pace was quick and though this seems to be a series this fully stands alone.
4⭐
 pick
pickThere was nothing wrong with this. But I will, someday, read something where the romantic leads don‘t immediately low-key despise each other.

I am 80% sure this is a moon on this cover 😂
A book I am hoping to get to this week, I hear great things about it.

This was a cute read. It was recommended to me over the summer and I finally got it it! Added another square to my bingo card! #scarathlon2023 #scarathlon #mischiefandmayhem

 pick
pickI really loved this book and it was perfect for my current mood. Historical type romance with magic and fairytales. The audio also included a short story at the end.
This is set in London during a ball season, when everyone is trying to get their daughters married. Dora only has half a soul and has no emotions. She meets the Lord Sorcerer and his friend and starts feeling some things.

 pick
pickThis was just an absolute delight. Such beautiful relationships. I feel healthier now. And a little tired, since I stayed up til half past three to finish reading.

 pick
pickI liked this but thought it was fairly weird. The faerie element hit as not well planned for me. More like oh wouldn‘t this be cool, but the execution was off. 3/5 I was quite transported and I loved the banter, weird but good.

 pick
pickThis was such a whimsical regency fairytale. The characters were fun and the magic & connection to the fae world was unique. Looking forward to reading more from this series. The prequel/epilogue short stories the author provides were really good too.

Good morning from sunny ☀️ Corfu just having a coffee and looking out over the bay with this whimsical read. My kindle charger 🔌died yesterday, could be a nightmare but I do also pack around 10 books 📚 🤣anyway I think I need a new kindle when I get home as after finally taking 24hours to charge most of my library 📚 has vanished apart from this read which I had an arc copy of . a cross between Bridgerton and howls moving castle 🏰! Lets see 😎

 pick
pickThis was cute; I enjoyed it. Not my usual fare so I‘m grateful to @Johanna414 for choosing it for #LMPBC! As you said, it wasn‘t overly cerebral, but it wasn‘t total fluff either. I don‘t want to influence the other group members so I‘ll hide my other comments below…

I got this book in a book box and it‘s still on my TBR but from what I‘ve read about the book it has a #NeurodiverseProtagonist ✂️ Hopefully I will get to this book sometime this year but you never know with me 😬 (Some books on my TBR have been there for YEARS!)

pickWhen I said I wanted to read some lighthearted fantasy, this is exactly what I had in mind. It just made me happy! I‘m realizing that I read it so fast that I stopped leaving annotations about halfway through so I‘m going to go back through it tonight and get it in the mail on Monday. I hope you all like it as much as I did! #lmpbc @peanutnine @CSeydel @BethM

 pick
pickWell this was magical. It was like a warm hug and I really want to read the next two books. Half of Theodora's soul was stolen by a faerie and she does not feel things as others do. While accompanying her cousin to London, she meets the handsome, but ill-mannered, Lord Sorcier, who learns of her condition and promises to "cure" her. Their banter was amusing and their growing relationship put a huge smile on my face.
"There is such a thing as evil in this world. It does not help to look away from it. It does not even help necessarily to look at it. But sometimes, when you cannot force the world to come to its senses, you must settle only for wiping away some of the small evils in front of you."

Starting this book tonight. I had to do an interlibrary loan to get it because my library doesn't have it. Excited to read a regency romance that is also fantasy.

A story of a girl cursed by fae magic as a child during the Regency era. She navigates the effects of having only half a soul while being out in society with her loving & supportive cousin. Together they navigate some "meddling hens" during London's social season as they hunt for her cousin's future husband. Along the way they meet lifelong friends, learn life-altering lessons, & find love. There is some clean romance & a bit of magic.

It was a long day, but I ended the week with some lovely book mail. Life is good!

Here are the titles I‘m considering for this round of #lmpbc… we‘ve got a historical fantasy with romance, a magical realism about the relationship between sisters, and a fun sci-fi romance. Any of these look good? Anything you‘ve already read or have no interest in? @CSeydel @peanutnine @BethM

Just saw an email from Orbit! All these ebooks are on sale for $2.99 each!
I just bought way too many! But I‘ve been looking for new fantasy books to pick up!

 pick
pickThis was an adorable historical fantasy romance about a girl who has half her soul stolen by an evil fairy. This makes her not display emotions well much to the distress to her family. If you want a warm and fuzzy quick romance read (zero steam) this is a great pick. 4⭐️

I absolutely adored this book. The characters were delightful and the story itself was excellent. The romance was well done and I really enjoyed the witty banter. Definitely one of my favorite reads this year!

 pick
pickOh my goodness, this was LOVELY! I randomly picked this up at work (a library) and a day later I finished it. A Regency fairy tale romance - pretty much hits all my buttons! Spice level is low. LOVED THIS!

 pick

pickI ❤️ this! Dora had half her soul taken from her by a fairy and is not able to feel emotions like a normal human. This serves her in good stead during an unusual maybe fake courtship and as she tries to help the most powerful sorcerer in this alternative regency England right some of the awful wrongs in their world. It‘s the passion against that pain for all the wrongs in the world that is wonderful to read and makes me weep &❤️ this 📖 5/5 stars

 pick
pick“Regency Faerie Tale” says it all. Anything else would spoil it. Absolutely charming.

 pick
pickThis was such a fun and sweet book. The perfect book when you're in the mood for pure enjoyment.
Due to an incident with an malevolent fairy when she was younger, Dora has only half a soul, because of this, she is prone to acting abnormally and is an embarrassment to her aunt. When she moves to London for the season she encounters the Lord Sorcier who find himself reluctantly interested in helping her. #romantsy
