Just finished #Gilded a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin and I looooved it! 🥰 On to second part #Cursed. I am also on book 46 of my goal of 143 books to read in 2024! 🙂♥️🧵👑 143 means I love you. 💕
I enjoyed this reimagining of the Rumplestiltskin tale. It‘s a darker YA fantasy, but with some romance. There is also a good dash of spookiness (perfect October read) with the Erlking and his ghostly retinue. It could use a little trimming in the middle (it‘s a bit repetitive), but the climactic scenes were thrilling and it ends on a cliffhanger. Will definitely have to seek out the sequel to see what happens!
“‘I-it‘s all right,‘ she croaked. Gild had told her that he could pass through ghosts. He had tried to pass through her when they‘d first met. Squaring her shoulders, Serilda tried to be more conscious of the physical limits of her body. She reached out to them again. They were more hesitant, but as Serilda‘s hands found their arms, their cheeks, their hair, they again pressed into her.”
After therapy donut 🍩 and book 📖 time. Getting to the really exciting point of this book!
Took a brisk little walk this morning and following it with #coffeeandabook - vanilla latte with an extra shot and an egg and cheddar biscuit sandwich
It‘s a gloomy October day, but perfect for enjoying #coffeeandabook - pumpkin white chocolate mocha and a bagel 🥯 📖
“THIS STATUE ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE THE ASCENSION OF
QUEEN
AND HER HUSBAND
KING
THEIR MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTIES
TO THE THRONE OF ADALHEID
She read them again.
And again.
That was it?
No - there should be names.
She felt around the blank plains of the stone, but there were no more words.
Queen and King who?
Serilda traced the words with her thumb, then brushed her fingers against the wide-open spaces where names should have been.”
Today‘s #CoffeeAndABook - caramel latte and some pumpkin pancakes with pumpkin whipped cream. Perfect for #SweaterWeather
After having to fill all my tires with air (the “joy” of it going from 70+ degrees to 50ish), I definitely deserve a treat! Starting this book while enjoying a mocha, a caprese sandwich, and some chips.
This book starts off slow, but it really picks up in the second half.
I've never read a rumpelstiltskin retelling before. It's a really cool story.
I think I will probably like the second book more.

Rumpelstiltskin reimagining set in a dark, gloomy, gothic castle, full of ghosts and Germanic folklore. There‘s a little bit of romance and a whole lot of heartbreak, seriously it‘s a bit dark for YA in my opinion. No happy ending, yet. But an intriguing cliffhanger that has me reeling for the sequel! All in all, Gilded is pure GOLD (haha, very clever) 5/5
Marissa Meyer is such a good story teller! And the fact that Serilda the main character is one as well was pretty cool! Very awesome retelling of Rumplestiltskin that had me wanting to read nonstop, I needed answers haha. This book does leave quite a bit to look forward to for book 2! Can't wait to discuss with you @BooksNBowls this was a fun buddy read 🖤
It‘s been hard to put down! A dark Rumpelstiltskin retelling, how unique! And the perfect buddy read pick with @KateReadsYA 😍
Buddy reading with @BooksNBowls 🤩

This is a YA Rumpelstiltskin retelling. So dark and cruel with the characters. Some twists I didn‘t see coming at all. I really liked it but I think some parts were extremely long adding nothing to the story or to characters. I think this is common in this author but in general I loved it. Waiting for sequel next nov. Two pretty editions, I‘m a book collector😜3.8/4⭐️384 pages during July 2022 #20in4 Readathon @Andrew65 this was long 500 pages
When you reach for your book but the cutie puts his head in your hand and gives these eyes 🥺😍 not fair #dogsoflitsy @deeannloso @TheWolfbehindTheEyes @Cupcake12
I had to bail on After Alice I will try again but my next jar pick is this one. I do love Marissa Meyer so I have high hopes.
Today is hubby's birthday so we went out to eat at an Italian restaurant! I got spicy pasta with shrimp! It was so yummy! 😋 And of course I had my book with me! 😅 I got him grand turismo 7 for ps5 so he'll be doing that for the rest of the weekend while I'm reading! 😃💕📚👍 #bookndinner
Happy Friday! 💕📚💕📚 I hope everyone has a nice bookish weekend lined up! I have two Harry Potter library programs tonight that I'm running back to back- one for teens and one for adults so it's going to be a loooong (but fun!) day! Luckily I'm off tomorrow so I will be indulging in a day of reading!
I'm starting this today and super excited about it! I love Marissa Meyer so I've got high hopes for this one! ❤📖
This book was on my “to buy” list but my daughter bought it before I got to it so I‘m borrowing it from her.
This is incredibly creative and it works really well as an #audiobook. It's sort of a Rumpelstiltskin retelling but this author does her own thing with it, as expected.

If anyone can do fairy tale retellings, the it's Marissa Meyer. I don't even mind the romance in her books. Me! This one is dark and scary, uncanny. No Happily Ever After to be found in this story. And that's one of the strong sides of this book: so much atmosphere. I could dive into the story and didn't want to come back to earth again. The ending was a little bit disappointing, even for a book in a series. But now I can look forward to part two.
Marissa Meyer's writing & storytelling are whimsical, but with a fantastic dark edge. Fairytale retelling with a lot of atmosphere, lyrical language, mythical creatures, & fabulously gothic locations. I was hooked from the start & devoured this like my life depended on it. A great construction of light & dark, plus sacrifice of perfection & the happy ending style. Excellent writing, fun characters, and a gripping plot. Prepare for a cliffhanger.
I finished Guilded and gave it 3 1/2 stars. It was ok but I really licked The Lunar Chronicles better. But I was interested enough to pick up the second book when it comes out.
Good morning! I think today I‘m going to start Guilded by Marissa Meyer.
Gilded is such a great twist on a classic fairy tale. I really enjoyed Meyer‘s characters. They are relatable--as relatable as fairy tale characters can be--and are well developed; I took a real interest in their lives, the obstacles they faced, and their successes and failures. The descriptions and figurative language are extremely effective, transporting me to this fairy tale land. I love how I could tell that Serilda‘s story isn‘t finished.
First book haul of the year. I finally got to spend my Christmas gift card/money. Got some long awaited books, a few I'd never heard of, and a reading buddy. (Squishmallows make some of the best book pillows, and much cheaper and cuter than a lot on the market.) And, I managed to only go over by $3!
This book… I didn‘t want it to end, and when it did, I was happy to learn the sequel comes out next year. The descriptions are lush, the Rumpelstiltskin storyline is cleverly played out, and the doomed romance is as engaging as the characters. Marissa can weave an excellent tale!
On a related note: I hope FairyLoot offers an exclusive edition of Cursed, too.
Cover reveal by Marissa Meyer for Cursed, the sequel to Gilded. Another to add to my get and read list. @Jackal121 #coverreveal #newbook #bookrelease
My books for #roll100 - worked out well as I had started Gilded forgetting I had put it on my list of 100 😅 woops
@PuddleJumper
Alright I finally narrowed my list for January #bookspin and I still have to finish my bingo for December 😅 I‘m hoping to knock another book or two out hopefully @TheAromaofBooks
The first thing you ought to know
is that it wasn‘t my father‘s fault.
Not the bad luck, not the lies.
Certainly not the curse.
I know some will try to blame him,
but he had little to do with it.
And I want to be clear that
it wasn‘t entirely my fault, either.
Not the bad luck, not the lies.
Certainly not the curse.
Well.
Maybe some of the lies.
My 5th book Marissa Meyer in one month. The cover is gorgeous, but I didn‘t like it as much as The Lunar Chronicles.
