I needed this book in my life. Why didn‘t you guys tell me I needed this book in my life?! Also: Best. Title. Ever.

A school full of geniuses, what could go wrong? Trixie Watson has two goals senior year: save enough money to buy the Doctor Who figurine set and place third in her class. Except there is one person she‘s up against for third, Ben West.
This was a really cute and laugh out loud story. I really enjoyed the characters and the story. The twist was interesting and I enjoyed it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3.75⭐️ a super cute romp, with nerdlicious references like Saga, Dr. Who, Star Trek, DC, Marvel, Buffy, etc. I got the Saga ones, thankfully. It has a mystery woven in also.
Dean Martin has become my service animal. The program is called “Readers on Paws” lol Our slogan is “Old cats helping old bats”. This getting old thing is getting old....
Another pick from my #freakyfriday list! Fun YA retelling of Much Ado about Nothing full of geeky references (most of which went over my head 😂).
My pen pal sent me the book that follows this and I completely fell in love with it. She sent me this glorious book for Valentine's day! I need to get a few other books done first but am so excited to read this. This was just what I needed.
I don't know how this happened, but I had a pretty great start to my reading year with 41 books this month (including 5 rereads of favorites).
-35 audiobooks
-3 print books
-3 ebooks
I doubt I'll be able to keep up this pace for February, but who knows?
This was a fun YA romp for me. I read it in like three hours. It's an adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, modernized and set at a prep school for gifted students. It was super fun to dissect all the references!
How to survive a massive personal/professional disappointment (besides the half pan of brownies and red wine I consumed last night)? I recommend witty banter a la Veronica Mars (thanks @bookriot !) and snuggling madly purring 6 week old kitten. It doesn't fix everything, but it definitely helps!
Very sweet very nerdy romance with a hint of suspense. The heroine and hero have a serious hatred that stems from that incident on the monkey bars that happened in first grade, but then she begins to notice him. #romantsy
This was hands down one of my top reads of 2016. I can't wait for Lily's new book! #book #books #ya #youngadult #bookish #bookstagram #retelling #shakespeare #contemporary #reading #reads
Cute! I wasn't sure I'd like this, but it ended up being really fun and well written! It's a modern day retelling of Much Ado About Nothing, but not in an annoying way. Sometimes adaptations lose their heart from trying to match the original, but this one didn't. The book overflowed with references to geek culture, especially comic books, Dr Who, etc. The dialogue was witty and believable and there was even a bit of a mystery. I say go for it!
What a brilliant, cheeky grin of a book! A fantastic retelling of one of Shakespeare's better plays, with bright, witty characters & a plot that seamlessly held the old while weaving in freshness & authenticity. Chockfull of feisty feminism, superhero analogies and comic-book cute romance, I loved every minute of it. Highly recommended if you're looking for a page-turner that'll keep you grinning madly from start to finish! ★★★★☆.
#currentlyreading | a hilarious, gloriously nerd-tastic retelling of my second-favorite Shakespeare play? YES DUH.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I really enjoyed reading this book. I enjoyed the setting and the vibe and the writing. The characters were interesting and flawed, even if the MC did get a bit $@&×£ at times - this was acknowledged and works on which was great. Some of the nerd references passed me by but I got most of them, but I could see some people struggling with that a little. The surprise mystery was great too! Thumbs up! #romansty #osrbc
And that takes care of the Recommended By square (it was recced by #bookriot). On to Brown Girl Dreaming, for the 70s square. #litsychallenge2017 #litsyrc21
Ten Things I Hate About You, but with comic book nerds at a school for the gifted. It's like someone wrote a YA novel just for me.
Smart, geeky girls. Great pop cultural references (Whedon rules!). Mystery. Romance. An excellent riff on Much Ado About Nothing. Such a fun read.
That. Was. Precious. There really do need to be more YA adaptations of Much Ado, but this one is particularly fantastic with spectacularly geeky students at a school for supernerds. I'm talking an entire text spread about Saga. It's fantastic. I look forward to seeing what else Anderson might give us.
Take Much Ado About Nothing, set it in a high school full of geniuses, and toss in a few hundred geeky fandom references and that's where you'll find this book. Frankly any take on Bill's Much Ado is an automatic pick up for me but this was light and funny and truly well done. Read it in one night and find myself very much wishing that I could've spent my high school days in a place like this. How I love a good YA retelling!
Went to Main Point Books at its new location in Wayne, PA. Got some vacation reads.
Very much enjoying this nerdy update of 'Much ado about nothing'. Genius kids, DC vs. Marvel, and pressures of ranking in a high pressure school. Lots happening.
My #Christmastime #bookhaul. Hope everyone's wishes come true. #seasonal
Possibly the nerdiest YA book I've ever read and that is a high compliment. Laugh out load funny, romantic, with a great mystery subplot that keeps you turning the pages. Seriously, it out-nerds Fangirl and it's just as funny. I can't say enough nice things about it.
Oh I love Trixie. I too judge potential romantic partners based on their opinion of the BSG ending.
Yes, yes it was. The movie was perfection.
Best. Title. Ever. So excited to start this book!!

The only reason why I grabbed this book is because I saw "Doctor Who" on the sleeve and I was sold. 50 pages in and I'm super glad I went with my gut! Love me some nerdy female protagonists. #nerdgirls #lilyanderson #ya #yalove #librariesrule #epl #contemporaryya #wittybooks #amreading #sweet16s
Finally nabbed this beauty from my friends' bookshelf!!
A "Much Ado About Something" mashup with comics and fandoms. I was laughing out loud on the first page at Trixie's snark. (So was Dexter ? ...or maybe that's a yawn.) So many shout outs to Firefly, Dr. Who, and more. Geeking out and laughing the whole way through: me. ???
I loved this funny and layered nerd romance. It had realistic friendships and shed light on the pressures of high school while rocking the enemies to more trope.
One complaint: the cover. While the comic design theoretically fits, the pictured couple does not (a leg kick -- c'mon) nor do I think Trixie and Ben would be impressed by the comic style's (lack of) artistry.
"Idle nerds become supervillains."
Ha!
When you're in the middle of two books but slumping hardcore, what do you do? Start another book, of course!
Trying a contemporary as a counterpoint to the fantasy I'm not reading.
(4 stars) Three Thoughts 1) The force is strong in this one as is all the geeky references - a little over the top that but still totally loved it 2) loved the love/hate relationship of Trixie and Ben and enjoyed their journey 3) quick LOL read and I can't wait for Alderson's next book!!
(4 stars) Three Thoughts 1) really cute contemporary with a fun cast of characters 2) totally made my heart ache and I hated to put it done 3) all the pop culture/nerd references got a bit much at times but Trixie is totally my spirit animal
Only 6% in book as no time to read but Trixie is totally my spirit animal 💖
"It was the battle cry of the newly not-single nerd girl, the polar opposite of every furtive sigh she'd sacrificed to the altar of unrequited love for the last three years."
My friend wrote this awesome YA novel about geek culture and young love based off of Much Ado About Nothing. It's brilliant people. I highly recommend this smart and witty novel.
A retelling of Much Ado About Nothing has to bring it hard. This book brought it. The almost constant geek/fandom references only make me like it more. Oh, and you don't have to know much ado to enjoy it.
