Number 13 in series this one finds Mercy and gang going up against an ancient and powerful artifact known as the Soul Taker who is taking prisoners and leaving victims in its wake. There‘s also still an issue with Adam‘s personal demons, Wulfe and the entire local vampire seethe has gone missing and a mysterious pack member‘s identity is discovered. As usual lots going on. My only disappointment is that we haven‘t seen more of Stefan in either 🔻

robinb of the last two books. He is such a complex and interesting character (not to mention always bringing the humor), and his very brief appearance here does not even feel like the character I‘ve come to expect. The past two books have centered around Mercy and Adam‘s relationship which is fine, but I‘m definitely missing more of the beloved side characters that I‘ve come to appreciate over the course of the series. 🔻 8mo
robinb But this book was still an exciting addition, and I was glad to get more background on some of the vampires in the series. 4.25/5⭐️ 8mo
Liatrek I love this series so much ❤️❤️ 8mo
robinb @Liatrek it‘s just so great, isn‘t it?! I‘ve been meaning to try something else from her but haven‘t yet. Have you? 8mo

Officially caught up with the Mercy Thompson series now!
I do quite like Wulfe so seeing a bit more of him and Zee was quite a nice change.
Another great read!

The Mercy Thompson series has become one of the few series that I look forward to reading every single year. For me, Mercy is one of my favorite literary characters. It felt good to become immersed in her world again. The only thing that I did not like about the story is that at one point it started to drag a bit. However, I truly enjoyed the ending. I am looking forward to reading the next book. #SoulTaken #PatriciaBriggs ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sigh😭😭😭 I couldn‘t stop myself and read all 13 books back to back and now it‘s over I just want to go back to the beginning ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Do yourself a favor and read this series. If you are looking for urban fantasy with adults, amazing characters, werewolves, shapeshifters, fae, vampires and great world building this is your series!!! This series deserves so much hype 🙌🏾🙌🏾

ShelleyBooksie One of my fav series. Mercy kicks butt. 1y

I recently reorganized the bookcase in my bedroom (the TBR bookcase is still in progress). This is my Mercy-verse section. Isn‘t it satisfying to have everything in order?

The book was great, as usual. I liked seeing more of the backstories, and while Wulfe is definitely not one of my favorite characters he certainly is interesting.

Ruthiella It is so satisfying to see a set all together on one shelf like that! 😃 1y

Recent #bookmail (middle and right) and library #bookhaul (left) for #LitsySciFiBookClub - I have some great books lined up for this month. All I need now is time!

julesG Sending you 90min of reading time, I have some left over. 1y
ravenlee @julesG thanks - I‘m off to use it! Maybe I should hide from the kiddo and husband… 1y
ravenlee In all seriousness, when my rehearsal this morning ended an hour earlier than expected, I really did think about hiding out somewhere and reading before heading home. 1y

First book of.2023! Although I love this series and these characters ,I felt this latest installment in the Mercy Thomson series got bogged down in the details. I do not enjoy it when a story becomes so complex I need to make a flow chart to understand what's going on. I want to read and have fun! I want more of Mercy, her pack and Zee - I don't need to know the back story for every vampire in the seethe!

I don‘t think this was as well written as other books in the series, but I really enjoyed the development of the world when it comes to magic and artifacts.
Murders are happening in a grisly way, and Mercy‘s unique magic is going to help them catch the killer - if she can survive what her magic does to her. We learn why Zee came out to what was the middle of nowhere.
3.5/5 read for a dark addition to the series, and learn more about Zee and Tad

This was an excellent new installment of the Mercy Thompson series, a series a coyote shifter who is part of a werewolf pack. This round she is figuring out where one of the local vampires has gone and how is it linked to a series of slasher like murders? Perfect reading for Halloween! 5⭐️

A solid entry into the series but not one of my favorites. This one deals more with supernatural politicking and fae artifacts and I tend to like the ones based on some sort of mythology.

Finally got to start this one. I have loved this series for ages. It's such a great series. Had to put my other book on hold so I can read this quickly. Which won't be a problem. I am already sucked in. ❤️

📚 Despite having a crazy, stressful summer, I manage to did read some. The tagged was a long awaited pre-order and another excellent installment in the Marcy Thompson series.

🍁 I‘m ready for autumn. It‘s my favorite season! 🎃🖤☠️🧡🧙🏻

📸 My last sunset at my apartment in Okinawa + my friend Ali & I drinking champagne on the sea wall our last week in 🇯🇵.

MoonWitch94 Beautiful pictures!!! You‘ve traded tropics for Autumn! Are you all settled from your move? 2y
Yuki_Onna So sad you had to leave Japan! Did you move back to the US? 2y
wanderinglynn @MoonWitch94 not yet. I‘m still in an Airbnb. I hope to close on my condo at the end of the month. 2y
wanderinglynn @Yuki_Onna yes, I moved back to the US. It was my choice as I hadn‘t seen any friends or family for 2 years because of covid. 2y

Literally read this in a 24hr period. I loved all of it and will probably read it again before the end of the year. Since this is the 13th book in the series it‘s difficult to talk about in a non-spoiler way. But if you‘re looking for a gateway book into autumnal feels this year, this would be a great way to kick off the pumpkin spice season!

I tried to make it last but I just couldn‘t stop! ❤️❤️❤️An intriguing chapter in the Mercy Thompson-Hautman world. So much intrigue. So much to distill. I can‘t say any more without giving details away.

And now we have to anxiously wait for the next book 😭😭😭

EclecticBookLover My library *finally* purchased a copy last week and I couldn't stop listening! Finished it this morning. This one was so good! 2y
wanderinglynn @EclecticBookLover the only problem is now having to wait until the NEXT book! 2y
EclecticBookLover I know! I still have the Alpha and Imega series to work through so hopefully that will hold me over. 2y

RELEASE DAY!!! 🎉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥳

ShyBookOwl I really want to get into this series but I worry I'm too late... that book 1 won't have aged well. Thoughts? 2y
wanderinglynn @ShyBookOwl I just did a reread in prep for this book. In my opinion, book 1 is still as awesome today as it was when it was released. I don‘t see any issues with aging. 2y
ShyBookOwl @wanderinglynn SOLD! Your reply prompted me to pull the trigger on the Moon Called audiobook sitting in my cart as part of a 2-for-1 sale. I've been debating it so long, just needed a little push 😊 2y

ShelleyBooksie Thus series is awesome and has totally aged well ♡♡ 2y
wanderinglynn @ShyBookOwl this is one of my absolute faves. I‘ll be interest to see what you think. 2y
wanderinglynn @ShelleyBooksie 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 2y
EclecticBookLover My library doesn't have ANY version of this right now even though they have the rest of the series 😡 2y
EclecticBookLover @ShyBookOwl I listed to the series for the first time last year and thought it was great. I was looking for something similar to Dresden Files or Sookie Stackhouse and this had the right mix of paranormal and humor that I was looking for. The narrator's great, too. 2y
ShyBookOwl @EclecticBookLover oh cool! I've heard good things about both those other series too lol 2y
wanderinglynn @EclecticBookLover it was just released today. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 2y
wanderinglynn @ShyBookOwl I liked both of those series too. But Mercy is still no. 1. I also like Kevine Hearne‘s Iron Druid series (which is complete, i.e., series is finished although he‘s written some other books in that world) & Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series (also complete but Andrews is also writing other books set in the world.). 2y
EclecticBookLover @ShyBookOwl I highly recommend listening to Dresden! James Marsters does a PHENOMENAL job as narrator. 2y
EclecticBookLover @wanderinglynn I know, but usually the physical copies are available for holds. Hopefully the electronic copies will show up soon. I've been checking for weeks! 2y
wanderinglynn @EclecticBookLover I hope it‘s available soon! 🤞🏻 2y
ShyBookOwl @EclecticBookLover I actually got it for free a while back during an audible special BECAUSE i saw Marsters was the narrator (huge Buffy fan). But I have yet to actually listen to it! I'll definitely move it up my tbr now 2y
ShyBookOwl @wanderinglynn Ooooh..Thanks for all these series recs!! Feels like xmas 😂 2y

My most anticipated is the new Mercy Thompson book by Patricia Briggs (tagged) followed closely by Emily Henry‘s Book Lovers. Then JD Robb has 2 new In Death books (Feb & Sept).

But since I‘m on a book buying ban (I explain that here: http://wanderinglynn.com/2022/01/02/a-year-of-books-100-books-in-2022/), I‘m trying not to find too many new releases. 😆

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I need to be on a ban!! I‘m trying though 🤷‍♀️ 3y

wanderinglynn @BookDadGirlDad right?! 😆😆😆 3y
marleed I feel your challenge! I also feel fortunate that I‘m challenged by so many books and authors to read and feel at times like a should drive around town with a bumper sticker proudly shouting out: I Financially Support Bookstores! …well, at least that when I tell myself every time I purchase a new book that may not be read until it slides off my TBR and lands at my feet ;) 3y
wanderinglynn @marleed I need that bumper sticker too! 🙌🏻😆 3y
