Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident
Artemis Fowl and the Arctic Incident | Eoin Colfer
Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident is the second book in the epicly good Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. Criminal Mastermind Artemis Fowl never stops scheming . . . Artemis's father has been missing for almost two years. His location? The Arctic Circle, where the Russian Mafiya are holding him prisoner. Now Artemis must execute a daring rescue operation to get his father back. But that's not his only problem. Since abducting one of an underground race of armed and dangerous fairies, Artemis has become their prime suspect for any human wrongdoing. Elfin Captain Holly Short has accused him of supplying illegal human power cells (aka AAA batteries) to the goblin gangs. There's going to be a terrifying uprising - but at least it will get Artemis away from his computer and he'll meet some new people. It's just a pity most of them want to kill him. 'Hugely satisfying - not to be missed' - Irish Independent'Engagingly vivid, exciting and witty' - The Telegraph'Fast, funny and very exciting' - Daily Mail ***Artemis Fowl was winner of the WHSmith Children's Book of the Year Award and Children's Book of the Year at the Children's Book Awards. Shortlisted for the Whitbread Children's Book of the Year Award.*******Enter Artemis's wicked world at www.artemisfowl.co.uk****Eoin Colfer was born and raised in Wexford in the south-east of Ireland. He began writing plays at an early age and, as an adult, continued to write. ARTEMIS FOWL, his first book featuring the brilliant young anti-hero, was an immediate international bestseller and won several prestigious awards.

Continuing my trip to the past.

I still marvel at the bold choice Colfer made and at how well it paid out—making the child MC technically a villain. Even if there‘s a redemption arc in the works, Artemis clearly starts as a bad person with almost no redeeming qualities. We‘d eat that up in an adult antihero, but for a middle grade character is‘s almost unheard of.

Loving it.

4/5

Butler, Artemis, and holly as well as root were traveling through the arctic and they were under this over hang and it seemed unusually to butler then he realized that it was a trap. There were three goblins in the sky with hover chairs and soft noses. Suddenly the over hang crumbled on top of root and he was stuck in a blink.

I‘m reading this book and at the beginning of the book it talked about the end of the last book and then it got into the beginning if this book and his dad was legally declared dead but Artemis knew that he wasn‘t. He was determined to prove that he wasn‘t.

LibrarianRyan The horrible things the movie did to this book. Such a great series. 3y

Book 2 in The Artemis Fowl series. Artemis has to depend on his “friends” among the People to help him rescue his father - for a price of course. Lots of tech, crazy ideas, and action! Artemis seems more human in this one. #100YEARS100BOOKS #55 #BookSpinBingo #1 #BFC21 #SERIES2021 #YApril #4 #AwesomeApril

And this is why it's good to reread books, wow I hadn't realized that the #faeries reached out to Artemis about this case! I had the impression that he always twisted their arm for their help 😆😅🤔 #fantasy #middlegrade

#AuldLangReads Day 6: Thanks to the fact that we have been blogging since 2010, I was able to easily retrieve a #BookYouReadIn2010, and reviewed too: “the writing is witty and playful with a touch of the mischievous and the disgustingly grotesque. Perfect for kids and adults who are kids at heart really, except that it was just way too overboard for me” - more here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-2B

And another book done.
Wow I missed out not reading these books as a kid, the writing is SO GOOD! I love the humor, the action, the thought put into building the world... Aaaaaahhh! 🤩🤩🤩

... DISNEY: YOU BETTER NOT MESS THIS UP!!

LibrarianRyan They pushed the movie back again. This time to 2020 5y
LibrarianRyan @Oldschool_millenial No. But there was an interview and they said it was all ready to go. I was wondering if it just didn't want to go up against The Lion King and Scary Stories to tell in the dark. 5y

I didn't really mean to read the second installment so soon after the first, but that's how the hold worked out. This was just as action-packed and fun as the first.

LibrarianRyan The movie out next month is disposed to cover the first 2 books. 5y
JoyBlue @LibrarianRyan I knew there was a movie coming out, but I figured it was only covering the first book. Now I'm really glad that I read the second one so quickly! Woo hoo—thanks for letting me know! 💙 5y

Potions OWL: 3.75⭐️

I forgot how much I really enjoy these characters and all the random side comments on environmentalism. But even though I enjoyed the story, I think the pacing kind of threw me off throughout it. It took me a while to really get into it, and then when i did, it seemed like the pacing slowed again and I had to force myself to continue until it picked up.

This is such a great start for the novel. I still remember the quote although I've read those Artemis Fowl books in my school days. Hooray for bears wearing scarves!?#babyitscoldoutside #WinterWonderland @Cinfhen @TrishB

I just finished this re-read, yay! I didn‘t remember much of it until I was fairly close to the end. I like the development of Artemis and really think he could use some friends his own age. I have the graphic novel out from the library so I‘ll see how it holds up agains the book. #fowladay

These are small stands. Actually they are heavy plate stands from Longerberger. They are small. They hold kids paperbacks and some small hard covers really well. The bottom rungs are close enough that books sit nicely. Big books , one won't fit width wise, and tall books throw the balance off and cause them to fall backwards. Also nice, they can hang on the wall. Iron and heavy. Most plate stand are too flimsy but these are not.

I'm so glad #ThrowbackReadathon overlaps with #24in48 this weekend, since I've been meaning to read these (mostly) middle/high school favorites for months now. It's going to be a good weekend (even if I can't make the full 24 hours 🤷‍♀️).

Libby1 I have read ALL of these! That never happens when I see a compilation photo! 7y
monalyisha Ha! I was JUST chatting with @Krystle1 about traumatic books & “Where the Red Fern Grows” specifically came up. 😅 7y

KrystleTheBookSlayer Where the Red Fern Grows is a book that I'd love to reread some day, even though it devastated me the first time I read it. I might be a bit of a masochist when it comes to books. 😂😂😂 7y
