From USA Today bestseller and Edgar Award nominee Elle Cosimano, comes Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gunthe hilarious and heart-pounding next installment in the beloved Finlay Donovan series. Dating. Diapers. And dodging bullets. Who said single moms can't have fun? Finlay Donovan has been in messes beforeafter all, she's an author and single mom who's a pro at getting out bloodstains for rather unexpected reasonsbut none quite like this. After she and her nanny/partner-in-crime Vero accidentally destroyed a luxury car that they may have "borrowed" in the process of saving the life of Finlay's ex-husband, the Russian mob got her out of debt. But now Finlay owes them Still running the show from behind bars, mob boss Feliks has a task for Finlay: find a contract killer before the cops do. Problem is, the killer might be an officer. Luckily, hot cop Nick has started up a citizen's police academy, and combined pressure from Finlay's looming book deadline and Feliks is enough to convince Finlay and Vero to get involved. Through firearm training and forensic classes (and some hands-on research with the tempting detective), Finlay and Vero have the perfect cover-up to sleuth out the real criminal and free themselves from the mob's clutchesall the while dodging spies, confronting Vero's past, and juggling the daily trials of parenthood.

Every Finlay Donovan book has so much humor, suspense, and spice. Love this series so much, but wish I didn‘t have to wait for the spring to find out what happens after that cliffhanger!
The audiobooks are really well done and I finished it in just a few days!

Kaylamburson Thanks @mcipher ! I do actually have access to the manuscript since I work for Macmillan, but I am trying to decide if I should wait for the audiobook since I listened to all of them on audio! 14mo

This series is so good. I can‘t wait for the next book to come out in March. I have preordered it. It‘s funny and heartfelt, but the mystery is so great too. The characters are so lovable even the potential murders. The character development is excellent and the B story could be its own book in my opinion. Finlay and Vero have won my heart! I‘d drive off that cliff with them.

jewright The first one was especially funny. 1y
SarahBookInterrupted @jewright it really was. It was the one that hooked me. I love characters like Finlay that fall into unfortunate circumstances but make the best of them in a lighthearted way. My mom is a real life character like Finlay. I often say to my siblings “ It‘s like she‘s being pranked”. 🤣 1y

Book 3 in the Finlay Donovan series. Finlay becomes more entangled with the mob, and also attends a week long police camp with Vero. Of the three books, this was the one that made me think it is getting more unrealistic. This was fun, with a good ending. Also it is implied that Steve is up to something shady, so that intrigues me.

The third book in the series was just as fun as the previous two- Finlay & Vero continue to find themselves involved in chaos, hijinks, mysterious capers, and all manner of ridiculousness. Looking forward to Book #4 next year!

Ok, I haven‘t read the 1st one , “Finlay Donovan is Killing It”, but I will after I‘m done with this. It‘s not necessary to read the books in order because Elle Cosimano is such an amazing writer that she inserts a little bit of flashbacks in a subtle way it‘s not necessary. She adds drama, romcom and mystery, she has me hooked!!! A must read. You won‘t sleep when you start this in bed. Trust me 👍🏻#ellecosimanonewfan #newsummerread #ellecosimano

I can‘t wait any longer…I‘m sharing my #TitlesAndTunes June picks…that‘s right, I‘m posting two because there are no rules especially when it comes to #GuiltyPleasure(s)
My first choice, the newest book in the Finlay Donovan series. She‘s an over exhausted novelist, divorced single mom, who just so happens to solve crimes with her sidekick/ nanny. These books are light, fun and full of charming characters and banter. Had to play off JUMP 😉

BarbaraBB O yes, House of Pain. Great accomplice to the book! 1y
Cinfhen I had at least 5 songs I could have used for Jump @BarbaraBB im still debating Jump by Kris‘s Kross 😆 1y
BarbaraBB Jump! jump! jump! (I‘m singing House of Pain, so good!) 1y

squirrelbrain Ha! I love the Kriss Kross one! I‘d have gone for Van Halen‘s Jump….. I may still do so, as hair rock is my guilty pleasure! 🎸 1y
Cinfhen Big hair bands are the PERFECT 👂🏼🪱 @squirrelbrain 1y
Cinfhen @BarbaraBB Jump Around is my family‘s hype song 🎵 whenever a big game is on the tv we play House of Pain to get everyone pumped 😆❣️ 1y
BarbaraBB That is so cool! 1y
Centique I made a playlist of “amp up the mood” songs for my hub‘s office - Jump Around was the most popular. SUCH a good song to get you up and going! 1y
Cinfhen This is another one that my family plays to get amped @Centique GALVANIZE by the chemical brothers https://open.spotify.com/track/4bz7uB4edifWKJXSDxwHcs?si=_3iWgaehSQOTBEDyU-iwMQ 1y

Megabooks And the Kris‘s Kross popped into my head first even with the House of Pain pic! 😂😂 1y
Cinfhen Hahaha @Megabooks EXACTLY 😝 1y
Centique That‘s a great song too! 1y

Catching up on reviews. I was happy that this one didn‘t take as long to come through Libby. Another witty & typical Finlay book. I‘ve realized that the book takes place over a week or two and not that much time had passed since the last book. Fun audio book to listen to, love Vero. Just sad that I have to wait till next year for the next book. Follows the same format of all the other books. #bookspin book

The opening scene in this book is hilarious and sets the reader up for the fun about to happen with characters we know from the two previous installments of this mad cap adventure. This is a series where the reader benefits with recall of details, not just all the feels, from the previous books. I‘m not that reader, but still love this series. It would be hoot to binge the series if you‘ve yet to started yet!

Solid entry in the series which I enjoyed more than the second but less than the first. I also didn't like the style of the cliffhanger ending. The previous two were kind of gentle non immediate kind of endings. In this one it's very much an action must be immediately taken kind of ending.

I really enjoy this series. They‘re funny and light but not quite a cozy mystery. I like how the author keeps getting Finlay and Vero into some kind of situation where they have to solve a mystery. The setting in a citizens police academy training week, complete with Finlay‘s nosey neighbor, was fun. The ex-husband character still gets on my nerves though!

The latest in this cozy mystery series is a continuation of the previous novel - not many new characters in this one and it is obviously setting the reader up for the next book - cliffhanger ending. Was this the series‘ most outlandish premise yet? Possibly. Was it the installment I‘ve enjoyed the most? Absolutely.

My affection for the core cast of characters only continues to grow; I love Finlay, I worship Vero, and I may even be coming around on the hot cop love interest.

Enjoyed this, but it's my least favourite of the three books in the series. It has #MiddleBookSyndrome, builds up the stage for book 4, but nothing much new happens. And just when you think Finlay manages to take a step forward in the right direction the ending makes you wonder whether she's just stepped back two steps.

I agree w/ some other reviews: it's time to wrap this up.

I don't think anything in this series will top the first book. I still enjoyed the ride of this book, especially because I love the characters. But for how many things these characters have gotten into, how are they still making so many mistakes?? Also there is something that finally happens in this book and I shouted for joy! But at the end it threatened to go back again. One step froward.. 2 steps back.. Getting a little annoying. 3/5

3½⭐
I don‘t know exactly what it was about this that‘s not really working for me with this third book in the series. Maybe the hijinks are getting out of hand or the OTT moments are just too over the top. Or maybe, and I‘m leaning heavily towards this one, there are too many characters to keep track of now and I can‘t always remember who they are. I‘m not hating it, I‘m just ready for things to wrap up already.

With writer‘s block and loose ends still to tie up from their last predicament, Finlay and her best friend/nanny/parter-in-covering-up-crimes, Vero, need cash again a way out from the mob‘s thumb. I didn't love this, the third book in the series, but I liked it enough to recommend it, with the caveat that you need to read the books in order to really follow all the zany predicaments that Finlay and Vero (her friend and nanny) find themselves in. The plot is complicated, but the author's ability to create humour amongst contract killers, mob bosses, cops, a sleazy ex-husband and the antics of a two year old make it worth it. 3.5/5 stars.

Third installment in this series which ended as if we should‘ve expect more.
