Grace Evans, an overworked New Yorker looking for a total escape from her busy life, books an Airbnb on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming. When she arrives at the idyllic getaway, shes pleased to find that the owner is a handsome man by the name of Calvin Wellsand hes eager to introduce her to his easygoing way of life. But there are things Grace discovers that shes not too pleased about: A lack of cell phone service. A missing woman. And a feeling that something isnt right with the ranch. Despite her uneasiness, the two bond and start to fall for one another. However, as her departure date nears, things change for the worse. What began as a playful romance soon turns into a complicated web of lies. Grace grows wary of Calvin as his infatuation for her seems to have morphed to obsession. Calvin fears that Grace is hiding something from himincluding her reason for staying at his ranch to begin with. Vacation flings typically end in heartbreak, but for Grace and Calvin, itll be far more destructive.

This is my first official Jeneva Rose book, although she's been on my radar for awhile. I was a little bored with the beginning as the book felt more like a romance than a thriller, but the ending more than made up for that! I was expecting some twists, but I didn't see everything coming. Plus this helped me get my 49th state- Wyoming, for my 50 State challenge.

A super twisty and thrilling read, I read it in a day. This is the first book I‘ve read from this author and while it felt a little clunky and disjointed in areas, I‘m sure I‘ll read another one. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Wow this was bad! Don't try the audio version of this. The narrator for the guy has the most douche bag voice of all time. It made the atrociously unrealistic dialogue even worse. Noone would talk to each other like the characters in this book talked to each other. So dumb. Did I finish this? Yes. Once I thought of it more like a comedy than a thriller.?‍♀️I'm pretty sure we all know the color of Grace's eyes by the end. Not blue, but "blue blue"

I have been following the author on Tiktok (I find her deadpan manner and extreme sarcasm delightful).
Did it keep my interest? Yes, absolutely.
Was it an enjoyable read? Also, yes.
Was the storyline plausible? This is no true crime book, nor does it claim to be.
Was the "twist" Rose is so well known for surprising? I don't know that any twists completely surprise me anymore, but for someone less jaded than me, absolutely, it would be.
?

5feet.of.fury I love her social media, her & her husband are so funny (edited) 6mo

AirBNB, sexy ranch man, taxidermy, whacky family, small town, some massacred hens, skinny dipping and…beekeeping…? Yep, it‘s all here! There were some plot & character gaps upon reaching the “big twist ending” BUT despite said gaps, it was very enjoyable! I read the whole book in 6 hours, it grabbed me, for sure. I would recommend it, just know you might be going over prior chapter in your head and saying “wait…do all the dots connect after all?”

⭐⭐⭐⭐This book had a lot going on and not in a bad way,it had me looking every which way for clues as to what was really going on.There is a haunted house, creepy townspeople,a missing woman who also stayed where Grace is now staying, animal attacks,a dysfunctional family, crazy exes and also a one night stand.I couldn't trust anyone and that just heightened the tension in it for me, at some stage I had suspected everyone by the end of this book.

An Airbnb thriller with a lackluster twist. This was a so-so for me as the interactions between Calvin and Grace were so unnatural it felt like bad acting in words. It was just strange..the twist wasn‘t anything unexpected and the story just kinda droned on.

So I got 10% in and well the whole way the characters talked to each other was so weird and unnatural. I know this one isn‘t a good distraction . #DNF

Mixed reviews for this one. I usually don‘t like books with a full cast of unlikable characters but it worked in this book. Narcissists, delusional people, unreliable narrators and multiple sub-stories.

The quote by Colleen Hoover printed on the front cover is accurate! You‘re just reading along, enjoying the story and thinking, hmm some of these things are weird. As the twists come, your jaw will literally drop at the ending. Another Jeneva Rose masterpiece!

Yikes, this was bad. I should've known when I saw the CoHo quote on the front that it was going to be a poorly written book, but the cover lured me in. The writing was so cringe, the characters made no sense, and the ending was stupid. If I had to read about her "blue blue eyes" one more time, my eyes were going to roll out of my head. I can't say enough about how bad the writing is. This is easily the worst book I've read all year.

LiteraryinPA Yikes!! Thanks for taking one for the team so the rest of us know we can skip it. 😋 1y

Audiobook pick:
This was pretty bad. It spent way too much time building up some ridiculous hallmark-type romance. The last 30 minutes finally had a twist and some horror. It just couldn't make up for the rest of the book. Lame.

Mmmm… meh.

The “twist” at the end would have been much better if the rest of the story went along with it. It just didn‘t make sense. We should have seen little glimmers of this throughout.

If hallmark made a horror movie it would be this. Both main characters annoyed me, all of the supporting characters weren‘t great either, except for Albert and maybe Joe. The “twist” was exactly what I thought it would be from the beginning. All that being said, it was a quick read, which is why I even bothered to finish it. I‘ve read better, but I‘ve also read worse. In the end, it was just okay.

“But the scream? Well, I can‘t be sure I even heard it. I was being paranoid. But I knew that paranoia sometimes kept you safe.” I love a #romanticthriller & thought this was great. I wasn‘t exactly surprised by the ending, but I didn‘t have it all sorted out either. Fun read. 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪

This one didn't work for me at all, I thought 98% of this book was a romance, I even stopped and checked early on in the book. The last 2% was, I guess, a thriller, more just baffling. Didn't make any sense to me. Also, the main character constantly changing her mind was giving me whip lash. 1/5

Nope.
This did not work at all. The insta-love made me want to throw the book at someone, the sex scenes were ridiculous, and the overall thriller/mystery storyline wasn't developed well enough to be interesting at all.

Fans of books like Verity by Colleen Hoover may enjoy this one, but I wasn't a fan of that one either.

Texreader I didn‘t like Verity either. I love a solid honest review. Thank you! 2y

I‘ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on this book, and I think the people that DNF is are missing out! It‘s a slowwww burn, yes, but it was totally worth it for me. With her characters, I wasn‘t bored at all, and the ending was fast, but it gets the point across.

1½⭐
…the bullet points
- an awkward push & pull romance with super-insta love
- with a few thrills near the end
- I didn‘t buy into anything these characters were trying to make us believe
- I totally saw the twist (if you can call it that) coming…
- Fantastic Narration by Andi Arndt & Andrew Eiden…they were really the only good thing about this book. I rounded my rating up for them.

This was a huge miss for me, and lots seem to love it...

I finished the audio earlier this evening. I can definitely see why this author author gets the title Queen of Twists. All throughout the book I kept wondering why the heck Grace didn‘t put a fire under her butt and leave that creepy ranch. Well in the end, she showed me! Bam! Didn‘t see that coming.😅 Loved it. The audio could have been better though. Wish it had been a duet. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
