Loved it! Christine Penmark begins to suspect that her daughter Rhoda is hiding dark tendencies. Even if you haven‘t read it or seen the movie, I think most people know the plot. It‘s very dated (1954) but such a good read and Rhoda Penmark should still be considered one of the best villains. Part of me wishes there would have been a sequel but it was also a perfect ending.
Here are my May #Bookspin selections. (Which I've swapped out 9 times so far)
I'll never get through all 20 of the #bookspinbonanza but I'm stacking the deck with short reads to see how far I can go. @TheAromaofBooks
Starting this tonight. You know, instead of finishing the books I‘m currently reading. Lol. I like to read a few books at once. 🤓
I helped a colleague move classrooms today and now it's time for some #audioknitting.
I report back to work August 1st and students come back August 6th. I better make the most of this time!
This child is scary. #hoopla #audiobook
So if you went to see The Bad Seed in the 1950s this is what you read when the movie ended...
And because I have no control, when I was at the library last night for an Sleepy Hollow storytelling, I checked these out. I have little time to read unless I give up sleep but somehow they just wanted to come home with me. What‘s a girl to do? 🤷♀️
I‘ve yet to read this (or see movie adaptions), but it‘s safe to say she is a #SinisterKid #OctoberXFiles

There‘s still time to join in! http://litsy.com/p/eUtoT09EU3B1
"Cute little Rhonda Penmark. So charming, such an old fashioned girl. Yet, something about Rhonda makes people uneasy. Is it her need to possess things? Dear little Rhonda always gets what she wants. And if anything, anyone gets in her way,she gets rid of it...or him..or her. So neatly. So efficiently. It's frightening, it's murderous."
? a horror/thriller classic, a must read for any Halloween!

@JoScho there was much squealing when I opened my #summerslasherbookswap package. Each thing was better than the last. I want to read all the books but especially The Bad Seed. That movie scared me to death when I was a kid. I absolutely love everything but my favorites are the Jaws/Little Mermaid socks, Penneywise tote and Stripe. Thank you! Thank you!
And Meg is coming with me on my trip this week. I plan to read it by the pool.

Hi everyone! If you are looking for some summer reading, my family will be having a big book sale (this is just a sample) this Saturday, June 2nd, from 9 AM to 3 PM. (We will also have some other things for sale like DVDs-and it‘s part of a big annual yard sale with a lot of houses in the area participating.) If you are in the Chicagoland area and would like the address, just let me know! #booksale
Good, but a little long winded and hard to read... however, if you can stick it out and get into it, it makes for a really cool read. Super creepy in an interesting way, too.
I just finished this in two days, and boy was it creepy! Really good and really gripping.
Rhoda Penmark seems like a sweet, innocent, and very proper 8 year old girl -- but that is just the surface. When there is something she wants, she will do anything necessary to get what she wants. The tension, though, comes not from wondering what Rhoda will do, it comes from watching her mother try to figure out how to handle her daughter's nature. Dark and creepy, the novel was the basis for a 1956 horror film.
#TBRtemptation post 4! The smash-hit 1954 classic thriller is re-issued with supplemental material. It went on a to a million-copy bestseller, be a Broadway hit, and adapted for the cinema. What happens when to an ordinary family when a child serial killer is born to it? This book helped pioneer the creepy kid trope to popular effect. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
"Why should I feel sorry? It was Claude Daigle that got drowned, not me."

Here's a childhood fave for TBT. Warped and chilling. I may need to revisit this soon to see if it is as good as I remember!
