Another creative, wildly imaginative, plot. What struck me with this # 14 in the series was the author‘s in-depth character development of a possible suspect, the deeply troubled Mark Siddons. The descriptions of his inner psyche, emotional,& social background present possible motivations for his behaviors & in effect, created my sympathy for him. Centered around suspicious fires that resulted in murders, & art forgery, making a compelling read.
Dinner with my mentor & friend - I arrived early,so read the tagged book while waiting. Chicken salad & greens on a seared brioche roll & coconut caramel latte.Delicious! Caught up on our lives, chatting 2 1/2 hours- could have remained there chatting for much longer, but it was Friday….home to crash. #readyourkindle #serieslove2025
Waiting to meet a friend for dinner & coffee at a coffee shop that is new to me. Only 12 minutes from work, by the airport. A little further for him, but he doesn‘t mind. He was my mentor- I student taught with him. ❤️ Delicious looking croissants for tomorrow‘s breakfast are in the white boxes.🥐

Early morning read & coffee.
It‘s a cold 45 degrees, pouring rain. Reading about a garden & love in midst of war makes me feel hope for sunshine.

Post WWII 1950s. Quinn‘s novel opens with a scene of a dead body in a DC women‘s boarding house. How did this happen?Who committed the deadly deed? The house became a home for a found family when Grace March moved into the top floor. She initiated Thursday night shared pot-luck dinners & overtime these eclectic women became a bonded,tight-knit group. The house was a character in itself, coming alive when the women move in.
1) working with teens, family, friends, community, being in nature.

Aftermath: The “House of Payne” a typical upper class, luxurious suburban home in a lovely neighborhood, harbors a nightmare of unimaginable horrors. In the murky depths of its outbuildings basements‘, ghastly, monstrous, horrific evil has been released into the area.impossible to guess the outcome.
The Summer That never Was: While DCI Banks is recuperating from the previous books descent into evil‘s murky depths in Greece,he sees a news article⬇️
Just a taste of what the book offers. I chose Casper David Fredrich as an example of the many artists included in the book because we just viewed a recent exhibit of his at the NY Met.

I may take a break from this series only because I do not want to finish these books too fast. But i just had to see Banks through this one book after the previous tumultuous Aftermath‘s journey into the bowels of evil.
Tonight I plan to be in bed by 8:00 & read the tagged book. Hydrating myself with water! #HyggeHourReadathon

“To be alive and think are the same thing(228)”.
This graphic novel was in our HS library.I think it is a reliable, researched, brief readable summary of Arendt‘s life & worksThe graphics are fun, facial expressions & body language authentic,Exaggerations of faces, bodies add a playful element. The language is modern- might that be due to the author‘s intended audience? Examples:Lines are “The Game is AFoot 9.1.1939 (100)”The Fleet Street Pundts(101).”

“I start living three lives at the same time”(88).
Germans are rounded up in France & transported to up in France the Velodrome D‘Hiver. After three days living there listening to “ uselessblather” & sleeping its lice filled straw mattresses, Arendt proclaims she finds “one intelligent, truth, telling person to talk to, to argue with sensibly, to dialogue with… Myself.”107).

We have SUN!!!!☀️
- My garden is out of control, but rain has stopped!
- I won a plant in a raffle
- Em & Poe curled up together in the sun.
- coffee & books of course!
- my allergies went nuts, turned into sinus infection & bronchitis- joy in that my medical team in superb & my hubby & son are taking great care of me. Chicken noodle soup & baguettes!
Went to my local Indie bookstore to get my monthly pre-order(tagged), & of course I had to buy another book! Also got some stickers from my expert birder sister-in -law who is recovering from by-pass surgery. Sending the stickers along with other recover goodies to Alaska where they live.
After picking up my monthly Indie bookshop pick, I stopped for coffee & a sandwich & a book. #IrenesCoffee #readyourkindle #EleanorRooseveltMystery
Slow going at first, almost bailed.A thread of interest kept me reading. The pace picked up;the plot thickened. The Mexican archaeological dig had a history of a cave-in stopping it‘s operation 5 yrs earlier. Now they could resume the dig.The plot was interwoven with an ancient Mayan Tlaloc curse which materialized in the present.A crew member,Emma declared she was in contact with a “personage…Huluc-Canab” from Tlaloc time, creating a humorous touch.
A reimagining of Margaret Fuller‘s life-with Margaret Fuller as narrator of her own story.Although her life was cut short, she experienced it to its fullest via her own violation. Her narration enabled me to get swept up in her inner thoughts, observations,& desires.Like many women, her “herstory” was sidelined by the eminent men in her sphere. The exception was NY newspaper publisher H. Greeley. He was able to truly “see” her,& encourage her quests.
Started this tonight. Only 40 pages in but I totally understand why the book received so many accolades. #Naturalitsy #shelfsweeper #4Elizabeth

Some poetry, some forensic anthropology mystery, some cinnamon milk & almond thins. Relaxing into Monday. Sleep well my friends. 😴
Lucas, ex-M16, had been reflecting on WWI & the 19 yr old grandson he lost. It was 1933 & the specter of another war loomed… the cherty tree & Housman‘s poem reminded me of our magnolia tree & how we observe its seasons.

Hannah has made her first escape from Germany to Paris. She heard news of Heidegger, with who she was romantically linked from 1924-8. In this graphic novel, she asks herself why is he saying these things; she is truly at a loss at his embracing of Nazism.
Catching up on this delightful #sundaybuddyread before I join in the discussion. After a week of rain, I can finally relax on my porch. #porchlife
I forgot to post my #WeeklyFavorites for April.
