BarkingMadRead The first time I read this, I didn‘t finish, and I don‘t remember why! I loved it this time, I basically devoured it! 2y
Erinsuereads I liked it better the second time too! I think it was toooooo much for the brain the first time around. I think that one is one of his darkest ones honestly. 2y
Addison_Reads I liked it the first time and loved it the second. It is different from most other King novels. I feel though for anyone who has gone through childhood trauma, or loved someone who has, there is so much in this book that rings true. Lisey and Scott have a love story that works for them and how deeply they cared for each other can certainly be felt. 2y
BarkingMadRead @ErinSueMreads definitely very dark! 2y
Erinsuereads I totally agree @Addison_Reads there is so much more to unpack there for people with these experiences! 2y
KathyWheeler The first time I read this, I didn‘t care for it that much — especially some of the violence Lisey experiences. The second time I liked it better. I really like the audio. I hate the way he ends the chapters in the book though, with incomplete sentences that force you into the next chapter. You‘re left with no natural stopping point. 2y
Addison_Reads @BarkingMadRun @ErinSueMreads Lisey's relationship with her sisters was an interesting part for me. Most of the time male authors miss the boat on female relationships. I felt King did a great job explaining their connection and the love/hate dynamic they struggled with while at the same time never giving up on each other. 2y
Erinsuereads @Addison_Reads that's a really good point! I'm watching my mother in law struggle with her sisters right now and it's so messy. I don't have sisters but it's such a complicated relationship to watch. 2y
BarkingMadRead @KathyWheeler yes! I was reading 20ish pages a day and stopping at chapter ends, but it always left me hanging! It was frustrating 🤣 2y
Addison_Reads @KathyWheeler The ending of the chapters puzzled me at first but then I guess I got used to it. It made me constantly question if we were in a dream or if it was really happening. 2y
BarkingMadRead @Addison_Reads yes! He definitely has the family dynamic down! The sisters were great characters! 2y
Addison_Reads @ErinSueMreads Messy relationships is the perfect description for most of this book! I have a sister, and she struggles with addiction, so perhaps that's why that part hit home for me. 2y
Bklover I read that he wrote this after having pneumonia in 2003 and imagining what his wife Tabitha‘s life would be like. @Addison_Reads @ErinSueMreads @BarkingMadRun 2y
BarkingMadRead @Bklover awwwww that‘s so sad! 2y

BarkingMadRead @KathyWheeler I started it once before and didn‘t finish, and can‘t remember why! I am looking forward to reading again! 3y
KathyWheeler @BarkingMadRun Sometimes you‘re just not in a mood for a book at the time you first pick it up. That happens to me a lot. 3y
Karkar Oh I do not like this one. ☹️ this has to be least favorite King. 3y
Addison_Reads @BarkingMadRun Can I be added to the list? I've been wanting to reread Lisey's Story and this gives me a great reason to now. 3y
KathyWheeler @Karkar it‘s one of my least favorites as well, but I figured I‘d read it again anyway. At least I‘ve successfully read it, which hasn‘t happened yet with The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon even though it was so short! 3y
Bklover Yesssssssss!!!!! 3y
Sparklemn Really looking forward to this one! 3y
BarkingMadRead @Sparklemn I‘ve never read this all the way through so I‘m looking forward to it as well! 3y
