Lisey's Story
Lisey's Story: A Novel | Stephen King
Lisey Debusher Landon lost her husband, Scott, two years ago, after a twenty-five-year marriage of the most profound and sometimes frightening intimacy. Scott was an award-winning, bestselling novelist and a very complicated man. Early in their relationship, before they married, Lisey had to learn from him about books and blood and bools. Later, she understood that there was a place Scott went -- a place that both terrified and healed him, that could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed in order to live. Now it's Lisey's turn to face Scott's demons, Lisey's turn to go to Boo'ya Moon. What begins as a widow's effort to sort through the papers of her celebrated husband becomes a nearly fatal journey into the darkness he inhabited. Perhaps King's most personal and powerful novel, Lisey's Story is about the wellsprings of creativity, the temptations of madness, and the secret language of love.

1. This book emotionally wrecked me. I could never throw a book, though.
2. Not currently working so I eat at home.
3. When I was a teen, I wrote a saucy short story in the style of a corny romance novel for my BFF to make her laugh. My mother found it and read it. And also laughed.

Atypical love story/horror/fantasy/thriller. This was a bit different but I enjoyed it very much in the end, despite feeling unusually annoyed at King‘s writing in spots. I love the post-script (above). ❤️

The library stole my book back too soon!! 😱😱😱 how does the time go so quick on digital holds though??? In a stroke of luck though I got my Libro.fm to work finally and #bookbar is on there! Found Lisey‘s story and kept on moving. This book is creeping into my head. Huzzah!

#byebyeaudible #supportindie #kingisking

Seekingtardis I have no idea what this is!! Would you mind explaining? I‘m always looking for audiobook formats. 1y
ErinSueMreads Absolutely! It‘s like audible but better! It costs the same as audible each month (15) for one credit. You get to pick an audiobook to “buy” with your credit. This is where it gets good though. A portion of the money goes to the bookstore you designate rather than amazon. More goes back to the authors as well. There are loads of perks. Here is a referral code if you want to try it! http://libro.fm/referral?rf_code=lfm85681 @Seekingtardis 1y
ErinSueMreads Plus you get to keep all the books you get with credits even if you cancel and the rest of the books are steeply discounted. The first month is free! @Seekingtardis 1y

I felt like I was having a hard time getting into the book, but at the same time I kept feeling drawn back to it. In the end, I really liked it. I laughed, I cried, my heart raced, I got confused and reread pages, then understood like lightning. I don't know if I would call it horror, but it had its thriller like overtones. I found it a very unusual and I can definitely see it not being for everyone.

I is for Intermezzo aka Metzie. She is Lisey's niece, and although she's not mentioned much, her name has stuck with me since I read this book. Plus, I love what this book looks like under the book cover. Sorry for the not so great lighting for this pic, but you get the general concept. 😁 I have the unpopular opinion on this book as well because I enjoyed it unlike most others I've talked to.

#KingAtoZ

When I think King and D, Death immediately comes to mind. For who else has killed off so many in so many creative ways than King himself. If you count The Stand, he's killed billions. Death by flu, by car, by Death (or zombies if that's what you consider Pet Sematary to be), by clown, by walking (I love The Long Walk), by lawnmower, by game show, etc. When it comes to inventive ways of killing off characters, King is the King.

GarthRanzz “There was a lot they didn‘t tell you about death, she had discovered, and one of the biggies was how long it took the ones you loved most to die in your heart.” ~ Stephen King, "Lisey's Story" 2y

I loved this one. The beginning was a little slow and confusing because it deals wth the past and it wasn't always clear which time was taking place, but after a while it all made sense. I loved the emotion in this book of a widow grieving her husband, and of a broken man who survived his childhood. I listened to this on scribd. I don't usually think about the #BookSpines of a book, but for today's #stephenking17 challenge, that's just what I did. Rather than focus on dust jackets, I knew right away I'd go the the beautiful book beneath the jacket of Lisey's Story. Hands down, it's the prettiest book I've discovered hidden beneath a "meh" jacket. The spine blends into the rest of the art, but as a total package it's very ???. #day23
