I need some serious emotional support guys. I feel like I‘m drowning & don‘t know where the surface is. On top of my current major health issues, I found out today that my so-called son,his ex girl & her mother have decided that they won‘t be allowing us to see our grand babies, not just for Xmas but at all the 3weeks they are here. I‘ve had to watch my youngest daughter bawling her eyes out & my husband question his worth as a father & poppy.👇👇

Lizpixie I‘ve spent over an hour sobbing myself & haven‘t felt this depressed in years. Please please please suggest some uplifting books, music, movies or tv shows to distract me before I have had enough. My heart is broken💔 6y

ReadingSusan I am so sorry 😢😢 it‘s so rough to have to deal with this stuff around the holidays. I have found when I get bogged down like this I go back to my comfort reads. Books that are familiar and I love. Going through a reread calms and comforts me. Also, I listen to lots of podcasts. Levar Burton Reads is really good. And the show The Good Place is funny and distracting. 6y

ReadingSusan Also, I know you didn‘t ask for advice on family stuff but when this happens to me instead of texting and calling them I will sit down and write a long email pouring out how I feel. Sometimes I send it; sometimes I don‘t. And when all else fails if I can scrounge up the money I will go see my therapist. 6y

LitLogophile I‘m so sorry. I know the feeling of being stuck in a depression so dark that you can‘t see the end of it. I can‘t offer you anything except commiseration here, but sometimes it‘s nice to know: it‘s not uncommon to feel this horrible, you can‘t account for the actions of others, even the darkest depressions end. mrsmarch Oh my gosh! What the heck? I don‘t like the way my MIL treats my children, but I don‘t say she can‘t see them. I just stay present so I can defray the damage. You need to watch You‘ve Got Mail, or The Terminal (Tom Hanks is the cinematic equivalent of mashed potatoes, total comfort food). 6y

Ddzmini Awe when family does something like this even books often doesn‘t help. My oldest daughter has done this to me... I‘m not going into details why but it‘s been about 2-3 years she has not talked to me I have a grandson and she is now pregnant. It is very difficult but I keep try to reach out it is the only thing I can do. Depression sucks I deal with it by meditating and yoga, when it‘s really bad you just have to take time for you. 6y

erzascarletbookgasm I wish I‘m in your city, Liz. I‘ll drop by for a visit and take you out shopping and dinning and whatever you want for a distraction, though temporary. It‘s alright if you want to take a break from reading, maybe just watch movies and tv shows - your favourite reruns. For me, rom-coms are a treat - light, easy, fun. LibrarianRyan This sucks. I haven't seen my nephews in two years. My sister in law is punishing my brother. The worst part, Jaxon had a school assignment to write a letter and he wrote it to me. Asked me to take him to see the new Star Wars. I would do it in a heart beat but his mom won't let them contact us. If it wasn't for a school assignment I doubt I would have heard anything. I feel you pain. I hope it gets better for you. 6y

Christine11 I‘m so sorry for everything you‘re going through. I‘m dealing with major health issues too and it is so difficult to then have other things not concerning illness piling up on you too. I would suggest A Man Called Ove or The Rosie Project for an uplifting read. My comfort reading is usually Harry Potter! I hope things improve for you soon !

If you want a laugh out loud movie, I suggest Noises Off, or maybe something comforting like Mary Poppins. Keep taking it one hour at a time. You can get through this. 💚💚 6y

Kalalalatja I'm so, so sorry 💔 I hope it all works out in the end, but man, this sucks! My mom and little brother had a period, where they didn't talk, and it still impacts our family today, even though it has been 4 years... I would suggest visiting old, favourite book, or watching some easy-breasy comedy. That always work for me when I'm feeling overwhelmed and done with it all. 6y
