Hey #TeamSlaughter!

The #TriptychBuddyRead discussion is finally open! It‘s seems that it was a pretty good divide between those of you who loved it, gave it a so-so, and didn‘t enjoy it at all. I love to hear your thoughts!

Please comment below your thoughts on the book, and let‘s have a chat amongst the team!

rsteve388 It was okay... I listened to an abridged version which I didn't realize until after I read it I am sure the full version was better. I did enjoy how the story was narrated from different perspectives including the actual killers. 4y

Clwojick @rsteve388 I jumped between the physical book and the audiobook, which I enjoyed well enough. I probably would‘ve enjoyed it more had I stuck to the physical book only, since I found the narrators female voice was a bit annoying lol. 4y
rsteve388 Yeah ugh that's the worst when you can't stand their voice. Ruins the story. :( 4y
Clwojick As for the story itself... In true #KarinSlaughter fashion, I knew it would be dark and gritty, as most of her other books are. I didn‘t find it as gritty as some of her other books, but it still had its moments that make my flinch. I love Will Trent, and found that myself sympathizing with him as the story progressed. 4y
Clwojick I also liked that she kind of gave away the killer early on in the book. The mystery isn‘t who‘s doing the crimes, but how and if they will get caught. 🙌🏻 4y
Sleepswithbooks I really enjoyed this book and now a new Karin Slaughter fan! 4y
Clwojick @Stacypatrice yes! I have a few more of her books on my shelf that are bling moved up on the list! 4y
Lizpixie I enjoyed it, it wasn‘t her best by a long shot, but it introduces Will & his diabolical wife Angie, which is its highlight. I didn‘t like Will at first, mainly because I loved Jeffrey so much, but he‘s grown on me💁🏻‍♀️ 4y
EadieB I've read all of Karin Slaughter's books. I think it's best if you start with the Grant County series before the Will Trent series as that's the beginning of the timeline for Sara and Jeffrey. Her last book, The Last Widow, I did not enjoy as much as it got too political but hopefully she won't keep the series going in that direction. 4y
Charityann I enjoyed this book. I hadn‘t heard of Karin Slaughter before, but now I‘ll read more of her stuff. 🎃 4y
Liatrek I‘m so glad this was our team buddy read because it introduced me to Karin Slaughter and this amazing series. I enjoyed the characters and the story. I really like her style of writing and also read the The Good Daughter. I can‘t wait to dive into the rest of the series😊🎃 4y
Clwojick @Lizpixie surprisingly enough, this was my first of her Will Trent books. ☺️ I can‘t wait to read on. 4y
Clwojick @EadieB Thanks for the suggestion! I‘ll keep that in mind. ☺️ 4y
Clwojick @Charityann I‘ll admit to reading more of her stand alone books, but I‘ll definitely be continuing with this series too. Some of the members in the group were talking about starting a #SlaughterBookClub ♥️♥️♥️ 4y
Clwojick @Liatrek woohoo! I‘m glad I chose a good one! I‘ve been familiar with the author for a while now, but I‘m happy to see that this event has introduced her to other. 🧡 4y
Bookwormjillk This book was more violent than what I would normally stick with, but the twists and turns kept me going. As someone mentioned above it was different knowing who the killer was but not how they‘ll be caught. I‘ll read more of this series but after reading this and Misery in one month I need a break from unplanned amputations for a while 🤪 4y
Sarahreadstoomuch I was really glad to read this, even if I didn‘t like how poorly all the ladies were characterized or the audiobook narrator. I‘ve never read books like this, and I‘m encouraged to try more. I did like the twists and some of the “mic drop” moments. 4y
FantasyChick Slaughter's been on my radar for a while now but I haven't had a chance to pick up one of the books yet. I'm glad I started with this one! I enjoyed the twists and I actually really like books that give away the killer from the beginning. The guessing to how they will get caught is exciting! I also really liked all the connections between the characters. Looking forward to continuing the series 4y
hes7 I‘ve only read a couple of Slaughter‘s books now, but I did not enjoy this one as much as the other. Will was probably the only character I liked, which made it hard to keep caring through the end of the book. It did have some good twists and surprising connections, though, that I appreciated. 4y
alisiakae I thought it was okay. I would have probably liked it more if I hadn‘t listened to the audiobook. The narrator was terrible, especially when doing the female characters. 4y
Clwojick @4thhouseontheleft You must have listened to the same audiobook as me! 😂 I totally agree with that. 4y
samantharoberts I loved the book! I completely agree with @Clwojick that it was cool to know the killer so early on in the book, because it actually was a huge shock to find out that the detective Michael was John‘s cousin Woody! I think if she waited until the end I would have figured it out myself and it wouldn‘t have had that same “shock” factor. I really found Angie irritating, to me she was the worst part about the book. Overall I loved it! 4y
alisiakae @clwojick Probably! His narration was so distracting! I definitely plan to read more in the series, but not on audio! 4y

Pickpick

If this book taught me anything, it's that I don't read nearly enough Slaughter!

I loved everything about this! So many twists and connections I was completely invested the entire time.

Great #TeamRead pick @Clwojick 🖤🖤

Clwojick She definitely likes to write dark, but the plot is always so good! Hoping to finish it this weekend. 5y

Clwojick 🙌@Stacypatrice Hmmmm Should we ? I'm down for more Slaughter if you guys are? 😍 (edited) 4y
FantasyChick @Stacypatrice @Clwojick I'd be down for that! I've already started downloading more of the Will Trent series on Kobo and I think I have a couple of her books already that I haven't gotten to yet 🖤🖤 4y
Clwojick @FantasyChick @Stacypatrice Okay, I'll check my shelves and see which ones i already have. You guys should definitely start with Pretty Girls. I suggest audiobook, if possible. It's the flipping creepiest.😬 😨 4y
Sleepswithbooks @Clwojick - I think I did read “Pretty Girls” a couple years ago. The summary sounds familiar. 4y
