I'm late posting because this happened. MY OVEN IS IN!!!! It's been on a dolly plugged in with industrial extension cord for 2 Years. No more unplugging so we can use cooktop. I can actually set the clock!

julieclair This whole chapter made me feel very uncomfortable. All kinds of weird tension. Why are Helen and Everard always arguing? And neither Helen nor Rockingham seem to want to spend time alone together. 3y

Emma really enjoyed her time at the ball. The Edwards‘ are not happy with Miss Edwards and her dance partners of choice (all soldiers). The next morning many visitors that find Mary not that beautiful. Her carriage does not arrive but Mr.👇

MicrobeMom Musgrave arrives with news that Elizabeth cannot pick her up but he is happy to take her home. Emma doesn‘t want to go with Tom. She resists, he fights back, and Mrs. Edwards offers her carriage. Emma goes home with Miss Edwards much to Mr. Musgrave frustration. Emma tell Elizabeth all about the ball and how she was not impressed with Miss Osborne or Mr. Musgrave. Her dad returns from visitation having met Mr. Howard. 3y

mollyrotondo My Penguin classics edition has a family tree that I look at about every 30 seconds 😂 it‘s not a big family but so difficult to keep everyone straight. But I love it 😂 I also love Heathcliff‘s intro into the family. Nelly says how much the kids and mother hated him and were cruel to him. Nelly didn‘t like him either at first but then warmed to him. But she makes a point that it wasn‘t that the Earnshaws were cruel and Heathcliff was kind… 3y

mollyrotondo …Heathcliff wasn‘t the kindest, warmest person either. Everyone in the book seems to be brooding in one way or another. The Earnshaws were definitely despicable toward boy Heathcliff but he was no mild weak child either. Very realistic character writing. 3y

Catherine quickly warms up to Miss Thorpe and finally makes a friend. While we are still getting to know Catherine, what we CAN say is that she is hungry for connection and companionship and becomes very infatuated with people very quickly.
