Bookwormjillk I was kind of surprised they both went. I thought it would just be her. Thanks @barkingmadread 1w

TheAromaofBooks Thank you for guiding us through this one!! This is my second George Eliot book and I am here to say that it will also be my last 😂 What even was the point of this. 1w
dabbe The ending infuriated me. All the pages ... on and on ... such descriptions ... blah blah blah ... then BAM! Dead in one chapter. The end. #wtf? 😳 And what kind of marriage will Lucy and Stephen have. I'd always think that his true love was Maggie. What kind of marriage can come from that? At least MIDDLEMARCH had a happy ending! 1w
mcctrish @dabbe I am so mad!!! Maggie is smarter than her father, smarter than her brother, Philip is her intellectual match but he‘s a cripple so that‘s a no, Stephen is a lightweight and her cousin‘s choice so that‘s a no, let‘s kill her off cuz that‘s the fitting thing to do #knowyourplacegirls ENRAGED I am 1w
KAO Stunned! It actually crossed my mind that the author was tired of this story or didn‘t know how to end it—so, ta daa! A dangerous flood occurs to shut it all down with fatal consequences! The End. Argh! Ah well, thanks for leading us through this one, @BarkingMadRead! 1w
Ruthiella Thank you @BarkingMadRead for once again leading us through the breach! I likely would have not read this otherwise. I‘m glad to have it under my belt, even though it was a frustrating read at times. 1w
eeclayton Joining the #wtf club. It was interesting to realize that out of the 3 times we saw Maggie in a boat, the only time she was safe was when she was threatened by the flood, floating with no male companion in the vessel. But the I still don't understand why the siblings had to be killed off like this.
Thanks @barkingmadread for leading us through another difficult read that I would probably have given up on without our lovely group 💕

dabbe All hail @BarkingMadRead, the hostess with the mostest! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Thanks for leading us yet again through a challenging read with an unbelievable #wtf ending. On to Ms. Gaskell! Love this #hashtagbrigade! 😍 1w
Clare-Dragonfly Bleh! All the flooding and drowning was definitely foreshadowed effectively… but bleh! Thanks for leading us @TheAromaofBooks 😘 1w
AllDebooks Wow, what a cop out of an ending. Thank you @BarkingMadRead for keeping us sane and amused through yet another chunker 😊 1w
Leftcoastzen Thank you @BarkingMadRead all that for that ending ?😡🤬 1w
BarkingMadRead @Leftcoastzen @AllDebooks @dabbe that ending was garbage 🙄 1w
julieclair @AllDebooks I agree 💯. So disappointing after aaaalllllll those pages. @BarkingMadRead You are the best leader ever! 1w
kwmg40 I feel the same way as everyone else about that ending. Thank you @BarkingMadRead for hosting! I'm sorry I didn't contribute much to the discussion but I did enjoy following along with the #hashtagbrigade. 1w

In memory of @sharread I will be listening to the tagged book. She had the first one of the Murderbot series on her TBR. I think she would have liked it.

BarkingMadRead @Clare-Dragonfly I‘m so relieved 😰 5mo
mcctrish Well that was action packed @Clare-Dragonfly they also don‘t read or finish thoughts or ever let us know what‘s going on! Emily is haunted by papers she burned and didn‘t read except for a few words which she won‘t recount to us 😡 5mo
Bookwormjillk This book is almost over and I feel like we‘re still in the introduction. 5mo
eeclayton @mcctrish I also really want to know what she saw behind that veil in the castle of Udolpho 😡 5mo
mcctrish @eeclayton is this the mystery of udolpho? Unfinished thoughts? Things not described? Conversations not had? Things we missed cuz we fainted ? it‘s certainly not tears not shed #rivershavebeencried #lakeshavebeenfilled 5mo
dabbe Your picture says EVERYTHING about this book that I simply could not finish. Absolute kudos to all of you who could! You are my inspiration! 💙❄️💙 5mo
AllDebooks @mcctrish 😅🤣🤣 I actually feel cheated. This is supposed to be one of the most iconic, ground-breaking gothic novels and it's pure melodrama eeked out forrrrreeeevvvvvvver #teenagevoiceandeyeroll 👀🙄 Where all the ghosts and mysteries at? 5mo
AllDebooks If you use the analogy of a walk in the park for the twists and turns of actual plot alongside all the flimflam melodrama that padded it out, we actually just walked every bloody peak in the Pyrenees. 5mo
mcctrish @AllDebooks yay I got my steps in this week/month 5mo

This weekend is the start of my major reading season, and my and the boyfriend's anniversary (11 years and we haven't killed each other...yet)! #SciFiSummer is going strong until the Autumnal Equinox, but #RIP starts on the 1st, which is also #BackToHogwarts day. I also signed up for the #WhatTheDickens #BuddyRead of David Copperfield. My goal is simple: read when I can and as much as I can #ForTheLoveofBooks #readathon hosted by @TheSpineView

TheSpineView Great goal! Good luck!💜📖 9mo

September for me means a combination of #SummerSciFi and #RIP, so I tried to reflect that in my #BookSpin list for the month.

Here is my #BookSpin list for August. Since I'm already nearing the Time Lord level of my #SciFiSummer reading challenge, this list is a mix of SciFi, music, and other books I've been wanting to read before #RIP begins in September.

Cuilin The teacher in me loved the idea of the boys school, not sure that ever made it into any adaptation? Thanks for hosting, but I‘m glad this one is done. 11mo
mcctrish And they ( and we ) lived happily ever after. Thank you for hosting it was nice to revisit the Little Women 11mo
BarkingMadRead @Cuilin I feel like it was hinted at but not actually shown (edited) 11mo
Bookwormjillk @BarkingMadRead @BarkingMadRead I think there‘s a Jo‘s Boys book. 11mo
peanutnine What an unexpected ending! I'm not mad about it though. This was a fun read overall! I'm glad I finally read this one, I'm grateful for the buddy read giving me the incentive! 🤗 11mo
willaful @Cuilin Bookwormjillk There are two sequels to Little Women -- Little Men, which is about the school, and very fun, and Jo's Boys, which is about the kids grown up and marrying off. 11mo
Clare-Dragonfly I am always disappointed by this ending. Jo says she is going to write still, but she doesn‘t actually do it that we see. She claims to have this long-cherished dream of opening a boys‘ school but it‘s never been mentioned before! 11mo
julieclair The ending was a bit out of left field, but I actually liked the idea of the boys school. Thanks for hosting, @BarkingMadRead . I would never have re-read this without the #hashtagbrigade . 😘 11mo
