I read all three of the graphic novels in this series in the span of a week or so, I just couldn‘t put them down! They are definitely some of the most gripping and moving things I‘ve read recently, and I couldn‘t recommend them highly enough if you haven‘t read them yet.

Starting off my year getting my bullet journal set up and preparing for Moby Dick! I‘ve read Moby Dick before, but I still like going through this little book before I reread it. It‘s a great companion read, Philbrick brings great insight and context to the novel and to Melville.

Started reading this one a week ago and so far it's living up to all the praise it has received. I find myself reading it in little chunks to savor the story. Lately I've been reading much more slowly than usual, anyone else get this way? I like the books I'm reading, I just seem to be going at a snail's pace with all my books!

After finishing The Aviator's Wife I wanted to read some of Anne Morrow Lindbergh's work, so I picked this one up. I really enjoyed this short and calming read about the importance of slowing down and finding some solitude and time for yourself.

I was on the library waiting list for MONTHS to get this one! There was so much hype around this last year, and I was very curious how much like the Manson story it would be, so couldn't wait to start on it. It was a very engrossing read and I finished it in a couple of days, but there was something missing for me...and I can't quite put my finger on it. Can't say I loved it but it was a fascinating & quick read.

I'm loving this graphic memoir so far. I've always had a slight fascination with abandoned places, so this one is right up my alley.

Had such a difficult time getting into this one but I'm glad I stuck with it. It was probably the most emotionally draining book I've ever read, but the writing was so amazing, it was just an engrossing read. This book was quite an experience, but I understand that it might not be for everyone.

So I've been wanting to read this for ages and finally started recently....and I'm struggling to get into this. I'm about 70 pages in and I just can't get into it. I've heard so many wonderful things so I'm going to stick with it, but did anyone else have this issue??

Visited one of my favorite used bookstores and did a little damage. I was able to find Wanderlust and Matterhorn there, I've been wanting to read these for ages!

Starting January 1st with a new book and some "titanium tea" a mix of black tea, green tea, and turmeric and ginger. With a bit of coconut oil added for creaminess. This is supposed to help with focus and metabolism ?Not sure how I feel about it just yet, but the book is good at least!

Some of my favorites from this year. I absolutely adored Baba Dunja's Last Love and Milk and Honey, but the Neapolitan series was my favorite thing I read this year. It was hard to get into at first, but once I did I fell in love with it...and I was quite sad when it was all over! So glad I finally jumped on the Ferrante train, it was worth the hype.

Such a great graphic novel. This was recommended to me ages ago but I just finally got around to it. It wasn't the easiest to read, took me a few days, but so glad I took my time with it. I loved the illustrations and format of this one. A heartbreaking read but I loved it.

I am absolutely loving this book right now. So beautiful and fun to flip through to get ideas for future travels! Perfect for armchair traveling on a cold autumn night.

Was it as good as the books? No. Was some of the dialogue a bit stilted? Yeah. Do I see what people mean when they said it reads a bit like fan fiction? Kinda. All in all though...I enjoyed it! I loved being back with those characters and back in that world, if only for a little bit. Also, loved Scorpius!! I hope I get the chance to see the play one day.

Excited to start on this one. Went to TedxKC last night and saw Rupi Kaur give a Ted talk and also got a free copy of the book! It was an amazing time. She is really great speaker.

I've been holding on to this all week waiting for just the right time to start! I've heard mixed things about this one...but I'm so excited to dive back into this world for a bit!

This novel follows Elena and Lila into their 20s and 30s amid their changing personal lives and the volatile political situation of that time. At the center though is their intense friendship.I felt like I was holding my breath the last 50 pages waiting to see where it would go. I feel so invested in these characters now, I'll be sad to have it end!

I'm so glad I discovered Sarah Vowel. I had never read any of her work before this and now I think I'm hooked. Sometimes reading history can be dry but this is nothing like that, she has a way of making history really engaging. It's history with wit and snark mixed in...can't wait to read more!

Grabbing a scone and a toddy and getting started on the third book in the Neapolitan series. I think The Story Of A New Name will be a tough act to follow though!

I love reading Alison Weir, I'm a huge fan of her non-fiction, but this kind of fell flat for me. The dialogue was a bit cringe-inducing at times. I feel like her non-fiction work is stronger, but I'm obsessed with Tudor history and I'd try the other books in the series when they come out.

I struggled with the first half of this novel and I'm not exactly sure why. The writing is lovely, don't get me wrong...I just had a hard time getting into this one. I loved the second half though and it's the reason why I recommend it. Mathilde was such a fascinating and dynamic character.

I absolutely loved this one! It's so raw and heartbreaking at times that I would have to take a break. Ferrante really nails the complicated nature of some friendships. Can't wait to start on the 3rd book!

Working on a backlog of reviews! I enjoyed this one though I had some difficulty getting into it...and staying interested at points. However it does set the stage for what's to come and it keeps getting better. Glad I stuck with it.

Went to Omaha for the day and had to stop at one of my favorite used bookstores, Jackson Street Booksellers. I practiced restraint and only got 4 books this time! I found The True Story of Hansel and Gretel, something I've been wanting to read for ages.

Been reading this the past few days...and I'm feeling conflicted. I have been wanting to read this for ages now, there has been so much hype around it, but something is missing for me. The writing is beautiful at points and the characters are interesting. Is it just me or anyone else feel this way?

Enjoying this and a negroni cocktail this evening. I haven't read much Didion, just The Year of Magical Thinking, so I'm excited to explore more of her work.

I feel like everyone has read this but me! Spending my afternoon trying out a new coffeeshop by my house and getting started on this.

I tried to savor this and read it slowly... but I ended up reading it all in just a couple of sittings. She really captures the joy/frustrations of the whole wedding planning experience. It's a lovely graphic memoir, I found the end really touching!

Have been waiting ages for this to come out. I am so excited to get a start on it finally! I just adore Lucy Knisley's work.

So good! Don't know why it took me so long to read this one but I'm glad I finally did. Very intense and complex, I feel like I need to read it again to get everything from all the storylines.

Very different...but delightful! Really makes you want to slow down and get back to nature and wander. Also, it has a great booklist in there.
