My new in! I'm so excited to read this!
Have you read this? I never have read anything by her but I'm very curious to start.
Do you know any of her works??
Let me know!😍

BookFreakOut This one is good, but I liked Vicious and A Darker Shade of Magic even better! She's excellent at bringing in dark fantasy elements and complex characters. Hope you enjoy it! 7y
LazyOwl Agree Darker Shade of Magic is great 👍I haven't read this one yet though. Another one added to my TBR 7y
LittleCloud93 @BookFreakOut thank you! I want read it so damn much. I hope they will traslate this in italian soon. Otherwise I'll try to read it in english. 😉 7y

A Tale Dark and Grimm | Adam Gidwitz
post image
Pickpick

"A tale dark and Grimm" is a dark retelling of some of the Grimm's tales, first of all the "Hansel and Gretel" story. This is a story for children that are bored with all the sugary stories. Because that book is full of creepy, dark and scary stories. But it's just not a book for kids. There is a psychological meaning behind every tale.

Challenger Deep | Neal Shusterman

I have mixed feeling about this book. I liked it, I found it poetic and magical but I'm still confused about a looot of things. I feel like a miss a lot and I have absolutely to reread this asap in order to understand it better. But I don't know if rereading will fill all the holes I feel. Is it something you felt too reading this?
What do you think about this book?
Did you like it? How do you felt about it?

RanaElizabeth I loved this book so much, even several years later I still think about it and recommend it to people. It is confusing as hell but it just feels so accurate. 7y
AndreaReads I don't know if this helps, but the author wrote this book loosely based on his son's experiences of being bi-polar, schizophrenic, and at one point when his son was in the midst of his illness he told his dad it was like he was standing at the bottom of the Mariana Trench yelling for help. Shusterman used that idea to write this story and to show the slip between reality and being lost in the depths of schizophrenia. 7y
Daisey I am also somewhat torn about this book. As an adult I can appreciate the confusion as a way to give me just a little bit of understanding about this type of mental illness. However, I have a really hard time recommending it to middle school readers because I know how hard it was for me to get into as a reader. So, it's on my shelf and I encourage anyone who wants to try it, but I seldom actively recommend it. 7y
See All 7 Comments
StaceyKondla I absolutely loved this book. The way Neal Shusterman blurred the lines between reality and the main characters alternate reality was brilliant! I can't imagine being that lost is my own head and that confused about what was real and what isn't. Great read! 7y
Suet624 I was amazed. And I need to read it again. There was so much in there. 7y
ptkpepe98 I find myself struggling to get through this, primarily because of the style. I think. After all, Patterson writes in short chapters. But I don't feel any forward movement, if that makes sense. It feels like endless circling. I appreciate that it might be intentional, but at some point, a story needs to advance. I'm halfway through, and I wonder what I've missed that so many others found. I understand the deliberate confusion. But what else?😶 7y
LittleCloud93 @ptkpepe98 you're right. It describes very well the way the author writes. In circles, like water circles that remember the voyage Caden did into the Ocean. 7y

The Third Twin | Ken Follett
post image

"The third twin" is a thriller that is not very known, since Ken Follett is known expecially for his history best sellers. But I really suggest this one, because it's different to the others books of him, it's simpler but thrilling and at the same time it's surprisely sweet.
A sci-fi thriller that you can't miss! ;)

readinginthedark Yes! ❤️ 7y
LittleCloud93 @Robothugs Thank you! I hope so too! Let me know how the movie will be! 😊 7y
Sapphire I think Water for Elephants is more similar to the night circus than Station Eleven, though I enjoyed all three. I can see why they recommend for the same readers but station eleven is dystopian and dark in a different way than night circus and lacks the imagery of beauty. Manuel's lesser known The last night in Montreal is also more like Night Circus with the element of search. 7y
LittleCloud93 @Sapphire I think that maybe you had choose the wrong section to comment this.. 😊 7y
Sapphire I did! How did that happen!?! 7y
Sapphire But it led me to your review and a new title! 7y
Robothugs I will! I'll let you know if I'll have a complaint of "the book was better" ? The cast looks amazing, though. I am crossing my fingers that it is great! 7y
LittleCloud93 @Sapphire I have no idea😂. But don't worry about it! 😊 7y
LittleCloud93 @Robothugs I think that we have to try to consider the book and the movie as two different things. Btw I think it will not easy to make a movie worth like the book but I crossed my fingers too!!😏 7y
Robothugs I completely agree with you, I was just going with the age old "the book is better" and making a joke ? I don't believe anyone can ever make a movie that holds up to a book, simply because everyone has a different perception of it in their minds. My main thing is I hope they don't change the story a lot - that happened with the (tagged). They chopped it up & it made me so sad! 7y
LittleCloud93 @Robothugs I think the same. I don't know this one but I get the concept, it sucks when it happens. I think that a movie maybe will be harder than an animation such as "Coraline" by Tim Burton. In my opinion he did an excellent work and I think the animation could be great for representing dark and symbolic books like these. 7y
Robothugs I agree! 7y
