Just about 20% into Slewfoot and it‘s giving Myth side one / two vibes. I love it so much. I don‘t know if there are any littens here who are also fans of The Narcissist Cookbook but these albums just recently came out in December / January and it‘s a haunting combination of music and folklore style story telling and like this book so far, very eerie. #AuldLangSpine

This book was a lot of fun and my first book complete for #AuldLangSpine I think it‘s a good fit for people like me who often feel intimidated by the fantasy genre. This story was just so easy to get into. I didn‘t love that it ends on a cliffhanger but I feel like I am invested and will be continuing the series for #SerieLove2025 also I need more Kingsley 🤭🐸👑 #LitsyAtoZ #LetterA

So.. this book had been on my TBR since last year‘s #AuldLangSpine but as I am writing this I now realize the book on last year‘s list was actually the same title but a different author 😅

But it worked out and was a pick for me. I think fans of Emily Austin will enjoy it. Lots of dark humor and existential themes. Kind of Six Feet Under meets Dear Evan Hansen in terms of the pickle the main character puts himself in. ⬇️

In December I read You‘re a Mean One Matthew Prince by Timothy Janovsky. I couldn‘t get this chai cookie with eggnog icing out of my head so I finally made them. Loved Matthew and Hector baking together and Matthew being useless in the kitchen. Matthew was definitely giving David Rose from the “you just fold it in” scene from Schitt‘s Creek in terms of baking chops. 🤣 💯

I borrowed this one a little too early to follow the #LittensLoveRomance schedule but this was a great pick and I will be following the commentary on this one. Now I want to check this author‘s backlist. This is my second book by them. 🩷🎙️#LetterE #LitsyAtoZ #Jumpstart2025

#12Booksof2024 This was probably my favorite nonfiction book that I read in 2024. This one stands out as being exceptionally authentic as a depressive myself. Relatable, yet hopeful without being trite or sugarcoating the tough stuff.

Honorable mention to The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows by John Koenig. That‘s a book I‘d like to live in. 🖤✨

#12Booksof2024 Octobah belongs to Billy flippin‘ Boston. I adore this series, but when Connor and Kayley write together it‘s always *chef‘s kiss*. The humor in this was great but there is also a paranormal aspect to this one that I wasn‘t expecting, but it just goes with the story so well.

Was surprised I was able to get this from Libby so soon after the US release. This will be my January #FictionalTraveler pick and I realized it‘s also a chunkster so it‘s another hopeful for the #AllergicToChunksters challenge as well.

#12Booksof2024 This book had the biggest impact on me this year, as it relates to producing a visceral reaction. In retrospect, this was probably my trauma being triggered by the existential horror of it all, but I don‘t regret finishing it. This one will have you thinking about what it really means to “shuffle off this mortal coil”.

Finally ready to concede to my final Goodreads total of 138/100 🤭 The pages read don‘t mean anything because of how pages tend to register for audiobooks, though.

100 tends to be my default for goodreads but I am going to try to make more specific reading goals that I can hopefully stick to. I am moving next year and would like to focus more on my physical books and will likely be looking to rehome some of those before moving. 👀

Gahhh what a perfect book to end 2024 with. If I don‘t finish another book today, I won‘t even be upset. I loved Piper‘s story and how this book brings the other 4 HEA‘s full circle. This series is one I will continue to revisit. I love these characters so much and this book particularly is a love letter to romcoms and the “hopeful romantics” who love them. ⬇️

#12Booksof2024 July was a tough choice it was between this book and The One by John Marrs. As far as I know this is the last of the series, but I hope it isn‘t the end. As I said in my January post this is the series I have recommended the most this year. I love the concept of healthy masculinity in the form of gleaning wisdom from reading romance. This also happened to be my #DoubleSpin for Christmas in July 😁

#12Booksof2024 Loved this sequel to the Ruinous Love series. This is Lachlan Kane and Lark Montague‘s story. I wouldn‘t call this a New Year‘s book but there is a deserving death involving fireworks to the crotch right at the beginning 😄🧨

Matthew Prince creating events in his head in times of stress reminded me so much of Jenna Hunterson from Waitress creating a new pie in her mind. 🥹 Was really sad that there wasn‘t a recipe in the book for the chai cookies with eggnog icing. I want to make them so bad. I really loved the focus on mental health in this one around anxiety. And Matthew‘s mom can get stuffed. ⬇️

Last night I went to a Queer Crafternoon event hosted by one of our local SAPL branches. I love this idea! It was my first time. I got to make 2 holiday crafts (my poinsettia needs a little more work) and we got to listen to part of the tagged book while we worked.
