Good book, can‘t wait to continue! #Roll100 #56
I need to point out the inclusivity here: Apollo is bisexual, and it‘s no big deal. His history and current attractions (which are marginal but present b/c he‘s a mortal teen) are just part of him. We‘ve got a lesbian couple with a child, too. And it‘s all just part of the story. It‘s awesome! The first book addresses Apollo‘s attitude toward his son dating a boy, and he basically just shrugs 👇🏻
“That was a very ungodly way of thinking—as if you could have immortality OR meaning, but not both.”

Hägglund‘s ideas are coming up even in my MG reading!
I have read 4 books today, and I just started my 5th 🥱.
Trials of Apollo 2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
How high we go in the dark ⭐️⭐️⭐️,5/5
Open Water ⭐️⭐️⭐️,5 / 5
Trials of Apollo 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 (best of this series yet)
and now reading 📖 The Love Hypothesis.
It‘s been a day.

I really liked this book and enjoyed the references to the other books in the universe, whether it was by meeting certain characters or just being mentioned briefly throughout. I may have mentioned this during my review of the first book in the series but I enjoy reading Apollo‘s perspective and watching him understand the pain of being a demigod. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Everything living deserves a chance to grow.”
“It‘s not how long you live that matters. It‘s what you live for.”

PACKED WITH ACTION AND ADVENTURE!
∆ Enjoyed this one a lot because of the hilarious retort of Leo Valdez! With Apollo snickering come back! I personally love Kapoi!
∆ I learned a lot of new words! lol! Meg is annoying af! 😂 What a journey! I love that there's a lot of character development.
Yesterday‘s BN #bookhaul - plus two for the kiddo that were immediately grabbed and devoured. (At bedtime last night she was actually licking her lips at the prospect of reading her library books today! 🤣) I needed my own hard copy of Lies, and ordered Loewen‘s Lies Across America. Only problem - turns out I already had a copy of the tagged 🤦🏻♀️ so when my ordered books come in I‘ll be returning that.
I thought the first book was good...
This one is even better, lots of twists and turns in a series with a surprisingly unhelpful protagonist who is still coming to terms with being mortal.
Stakes ramp up real quick in this one.
The #Grove of Dodona, otherwise known as the Oracle of Dodona, plays a major role in this Rick Riordan series. #QuotsyJune19

Book two done and once again im not fully impressed. I still like the self centered attitude Apollo has but I do like that he is realizing everything isn‘t about him. I loved Leo but cringed every time he said “mamacita” 😣I like that Calypso was brought in. And once again Meg annoyed the heck out of me. The story was mildly entertaining, but I do like how well Riordan knows his mythology, and that‘s what‘s keeping me going now.
It took the hardcover, ebook, and audio book to get through this one. I love Rick Riordan, but this was a struggle. Hoping the next one is better!
“Everything alive deserves a chance to grow” Riordan, The Dark Prophecy, 216
“Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now take what‘s left and live it properly...
...What doesn‘t transmit light creates its own darkness” Riordan, The Dark Prophecy, 370
“We only fail when we stop trying” Riordan, The Dark Prophecy, 266
#GetMovin #day4 #Human This is the 2nd book (I can‘t find the 1st!) in a companion series to Riordans Percy Jackson series. In this, the god Apollo has been turned into a human by his father Zeus as punishment. Landing in an alley in New York City, he‘s totally disgusted to find himself a mortal teenager called Lester. Thinking that a quest will earn him forgiveness, he travels to Camp Half Blood with Meg, a daughter of the goddess Demeter.
Truly Amazing book ! Can't wait for the last book to release ! Until then gotta hang tight !
Sounds like solid logic to me. #thedarkprophecy #thetrialsofapollo #rickriordan #Apollo #batman

I made some new bookmarks while waiting for my roommate's boyfriend to leave. Yes I'm that socially awkward. But at least I got some cute bookmarks out of it! #bookmarks #sociallyawkward #imsohungry
I have said it before, and I will say it again...The best thing about Riordan's books is the inclusiveness. Riordan seems to really understand how important it is for kids to see characters who look like them...and who don't look like them.
Can it be spring yet? Because I‘m so ready to find out what happens next. I‘m all in with Apollo and his squad now, so I am gonna‘ be suuuuper-impatient for the third book! #thedarkprophecy #thetrialsofapollo #rickriordan
I‘m kind of hoping to have this finished by the time I leave work tonight; as long as it‘s quiet-ish around here, I should be able to. I still love Percy and Magnus best, but Apollo is growing on me, and the supporting cast is a ball! #thedarkprophecy #thetrialsofapollo #rickriordan
I guess it‘s time for another adventure with Apollo today! #thedarkprophecy #thetrialsofapollo #rickriordan
This was not my favorite book by Rick Riordan. In fact, it might be the book of his that I‘ve liked the least. That might sound negative, but he is such a good author that even something “not great” is still highly enjoyable and entertaining.
There are always good parts that make you cheer or think deeply, Riordan‘s use of mythology is still amazing, and he makes you care and emphasize with an exiled ex god.
For this author, a 5/10.
A very early Good Morning and Happy New Year Littens! About to do some #AudioCounting as I do my morning inventory. Hope everyone else gets to sleep in, enjoy their warm beds and a good book
What a fun, quick read on Christmas break. This part of the book just cracked me up 😂
Had a $5 credit from Amazon for picking slow shipping and decided to get this book. The entire family loves Rick Riordan. Yay for free kindle books 😍
The first Apollo book was not my favorite Riordan. That being said, this installment was great. Apollo has much more character development then most of Riordan's characters. This book had a lot of backstory and a few awesome new characters (older lesbians with an adopted daughter!). Plus, there were combat ostriches. Like all of Riordan's books there was a lot of humor, a lot of heart, and a lot of mythology disguised as good fiction.
Since my mom called I'm unlikely going to finish my book in the next 45 mins before my husband comes home and it's bedtime, especially since I haven't started it yet 😂😂 Most of my reads happened in the last week since I was working on The Eye of the World(Wheel of Time Series), I'll probably pick the series up again later. How did you do for November?
Fingers crossed I can finish this today 🤞

My library hold came in 😀😀
I've only had Pippin for three days and already she's joining #KAL and interrupting my reading. At least she's a cute distraction.

I always love returning to Rick Riordan‘s world. 💕
It's a dreary, rainy day here and the perfect time to start a book I know will be a quick, fun read.
Riordan‘s books are hugely popular w/young readers & for good reason — they are funny, always have lots going on (just one thing after another), & young people save the day. The original Percy Jackson series is the best of them all & if the books are a little formulaic now, it‘s ok. The formula is always well executed & this book is no exception. Plus, I have to admit, I find the idea of Apollo stuck in a teen‘s body very entertaining. Enjoyable.
A little middle grade reading today. The first one had me laughing out loud on the subway and yes, I got some strange looks for that but it was worth it because, honestly, these books are funny. There are good reasons why Riordan‘s are so popular with young readers.
I 💗 Rick Riordan! That is all.

Another awesome book by the immensely talented Rick Riordan! I continue to love Apollo's narration. I adore the new characters we meet in this installment! The message of forgiveness & second chances will resonate with readers. Overall, it's another awesome audiobook!
Apollo, still in the form of 16yo Lester Papadopolus after pissing off Zeus, continues his journey to defeat the resurrected Roman emperors so he can be restored to his former glory. He spends the entire book in Indianapolis.
Apollo is my favorite protagonist of Riordan's, likely because he isn't a teenager though he occupies the body of one. There's snark & wisdom & a depth that I relate to & greatly enjoy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 • #trialsofapollo #ya
I think of all the narrator protagonists Riordan has written in his version of the Greco-Roman mythos, Apollo is my favorite. #somuchsnark #notalittlebitofwisdomalso #trialsofapollo
