#BabyBookMail today!
Our local library got some funding for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library so of course we signed up! Took some time to come in but our first book came today.

My birthday is coming up on September 2nd, and I‘m strongly considering getting a tattoo referencing my favorite children‘s book (or a few other things). I found this pic online and love it. Hubby doesn‘t like it, but he also doesn‘t love this book as much as I do. What do you all think? I‘m a bit sad we can‘t comment with pics, because I‘d love to see everyone‘s literary tattoos.
I've posted variations on this same picture probably a dozen times, but it never stops being absolutely precious- plus tonight we had a cat at story time! Toby is always happy to soak up some snuggles

The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper is a classic TL/F-PR/RA/CR book that many of us know and love. In this book, a train,
that has very important toys and candies inside for the children on the other side of the mountain, breaks down. The toys ask different engines if they can pull them, but none can. Until then little blue engine comes along and proves that even if you‘re small, you can do big things! #UCFLAE3414SP21
This is my year. This is my year. This is my year. I've signed up for Booked every year since it kicked off and every year I fall short. I still have fun though! 😄 Which is what counts. But this year. This is my year.

I love that my little one likes listening to me read. She also likes to "read" on her own. So precious.
If you have little ones, Dolly Parton is starting her "Goonight with Dolly" and is reading a children's book. Wanted to pass it along.
This book is about a train who never gives up on his goals, which is a lesson that can inspire children. The illustrations help portray the train‘s emotions which help the children recognize emotion as well
I would use this book in my future classroom as a motivator for children to continue doing what interests them and excites them.
“and the little blue engine smiled and seemed to say as she puffed steadily down the mountain 'I thought I could I thought I could I thought I could'“
I would read this to a class whenever we are talking about things like resiliency and self-confidence.
This book is good because it teaches a lesson to the children about not giving up and having hope in yourself to accomplish things even if you have doubt.
“I think I can, I think I can”. In this moment, the children can start saying it with the train because it is repeated so often.
I would read this book to a younger aged classroom. There is a lot of emotions that children feel reading this book from sadness for the children to hopefulness for the little engine. It‘s such a fantastic book.
Picture Books
I love this book. As a child, I always sympathized for the children in the town that needed wanted their toys. Everything in this story is very well done. The illustrations are incredibly detailed and the writing is easy enough for any child to understand. I adore this book and even remember the plot several years after reading it.
Since there were no words I liked the part when the blue engine would help the toys because she knew the children needed them.
This book would be great for kindergarten and 1st grade. The students would love the colorful pictures. It has a great message which can be a great lesson for younger kids to learn.
This is a picture book. It‘s a very good book and great for both genders. The pictures are so great and explain very well about what‘s going on.
It would be hard to find someone who didn‘t know the mantra: I think I can! This is a timeless story of perseverance and kindness. I can‘t tell you how many times I‘ve said this mantra to myself, even as an adult. 😊😊😊 8/1,001 #1001ChildrensBooks
The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper is an F book that is considered to be an American fairytale (so maybe it is a TL), and it would be great for an S or an RA. It is a cute story about a train who thinks she can (and, spoiler alert, she does)! How my children loved this!
Who here reads to their children? If so what kind of books do you read to them? Ages? 😃

Well this just gave me a little buoyancy. I set my reading challenge at 50 last year and didn't reach it. I've read larger books the last 2 years and a toddler, now preschooler, that requires all of my attention. I wasn't sure I'd make it this year either! Gone are the days of my 125 book challenge that was surpassed.
Little Dude got his first #bookmail today!! A wonderful classic c/o Dolly Parton‘s Imagination Library; I hope he loves it as much as I did as a kid. 🚂📦📖 #babysfirstbookmail #childrenslit
I never noticed the #FreeLittleLibrary that sits at the entrance of our local Y until today. The boys found 2 books to take home and we‘re looking forward to bringing some back to put in the collection. I just as pleased that there were a few books featuring people of color (see tagged book👇🏾)#boysreadtoo #librarianmom #kidsoflitsy #blackboyjoy #readdiversebooks #blacklitsy #blitsy #blittens
This was Parker's first book from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library that we got back in February. #imaginationlibrary #dollypartonsimaginationlibrary #childrensbooks
I didn‘t officially sign up for #24in48 but thought I would see how far I could get this weekend. Well it was 50 and sunny yesterday so I am wayyyy behind.
I‘m a proud Mama this morning because Lane slept in his toddler bed ALL NIGHT! He even let me sleep in until 8am! So we are starting day two of the #24in48 #readathon well rested, refreshed and ready to enjoy some good picture books
Woo hoo!! Tooting my humble horn for achieving my Goodreads goal‼️🎈🎉🎈🎉 Thanks to all you fabulous Littens who inspire me to read harder every day!! ❣💞📚 #goodreads
My husband caught this moment earlier, when we were reading my son's current favorite book, The Little Engine that Could. #raisingreaders
I fell short by three books for last years Goodreads challenge but I didn't sign up until August and December was a busy month with work and the holidays. *sighs* Setting the bar a bit higher and with all you wonderful Littens as inspiration, I know I'll reach my goal .. fingers crossed! 😬🤗 #LitsyAtoZ challenge and #24in48 'thon will keep me on track. Enjoying seeing everyone's goals here .. I've got this‼️ 📚👍💜
Feeling good about my #bookishresolutions. I'm really excited to incorporate more nonfiction into my reading, as I tend to gravitate more towards fiction, so @Ebooksandcooks nonfiction challenge will be perfect for me! #readjanuary
Playing catchup on #photoadayNov16 again because our little family decided to start November with a stomach virus! Or it's certain political posts/ads getting to us 😄. So, I'm combining #day2 & #day3. I'd never read this before becoming a parent, so I never realized that it's not just about the power of self-confidence, but also about the power of selfless kindness. I find it very apropos this week. #planestrainsautomobiles #inspiring
No bookstore today. But, we did take the train up to Mt. Washington. It was cold. I got to wear my @bookriot BOOKS hat. #NewEnglandinBooks
Moral: in a world on gendered trains, only trust the females. Male trains are too snooty, jerky, or whiny to be of any help.
