Is so totally relate to this. I‘m not in many photos when my children were young.

All packed up and ready to go! I‘ll get it out to you tomorrow, Denise!
#LMPBC
This was my #LMPBC for the month, and I enjoyed it! No details here to spoil for @Jerdencon . 😊 I have read this author before and actually have a series of hers in line to read soon. Happy to have had this chosen for this round @TheAromaofBooks . It‘s kind of nice to know in advance that you‘ll probably like the book from previous examples.
I‘ll have this in the mail to you @Jerdencon sometime this next week. 😊

A little afternoon me time. 😊

Clare Mackintosh's book from 2018 is the BEST of her first three for me. 🙂
See what I think at the link below.
THRILLER - MYSTERY - https://tinyurl.com/5dwap43j
@claremackwrites
Part domestic thriller, part procedural. A couple of the twists wowed me. Would definitely read this author again.
Takes place around Christmas/New Years as Anna, a new mom, is mourning the recent suicides of her parents, she receives a threatening message that suggests they were murdered. With police deeming the case closed, husband dismissing her concerns as grief & hormones, she gets help from a former detective who goes against procedure.
Solid 7/10, the pacing was what really sunk it for me. I wanted it to keep me engaged more. A couple of twists would have helped
I‘ve only read a couple of Clare Mackintosh‘s books, but I really enjoy them! I feel like she tries to write different/unique mysteries (at least for me).
I really enjoyed this one and am glad I picked it up.
#TrappedonanIsland
#SuperSeptember - probably last book I‘ll finish for the readathon
For travelling this book was fitting, it‘s the kind of thriller you want to keep on reading. Fast paced with many twists.
Anna‘s parents have both committed suicide but a year later Anna receives an anonymous note saying: “Suicide? Think twice.”
A light pick.

Book 73
I listened to Let My Lie. Anna struggles to be a mother so soon after the deaths of her parents. As all of Mackintosh's thrillers, the novel is full of twists. It was good but not my favorite. Three stars
This was a good thriller- lots of twist and turns. Timely if you‘ve been following the Heard/Depp trial
Went to the used bookstore yesterday, got $25 credit for a bag of books I brought.
Got these 4 books. I was a little annoyed because I could only use the credit for half of the price and I live an hour away from the store and I think the credit expires in a year. I probably wouldn‘t have brought them there if I had realized that. And just brought them to the library.

This was probably the weakest of Mackintosh‘s novels in my opinion. However, it was still a good, nicely paced story.
Just when I thought I‘d figured out what twist was coming up, it would turn out to be something opposite and catch me completely off-guard. Mackintosh is brilliant at twists for sure.
The ending was suspenseful; however, I didn‘t understand the very last bit. Did Caroline actually commit suicide by jumping off the balcony or?

Tom and Caroline Johnson chose to commit suicide 6 months apart. Anna, their daughter, is unwilling to believe it was suicide and is determined to find out what really happened. Murray Mackenzie, retired policeman, offers to help her. This book was a slow start and kept me guessing through a few plot twists until the surprise ending. It had lots of secrets and family drama.
I was so disappointed in the ending of this book as it was just too far fetched and seemed out of character for this author. I enjoyed the first 2/3 of the book, but once I figured it out, I was like ‘c‘mon! You could have done better than that! ‘

@DarkMina My birthday package just came! Thanks for these two books that were on my TBR list. I‘ll be sure to put them on my Bingo Card for October and enjoy with my biscotti and tea! Thanks again!
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 200

Book 17 of the year did not disappoint. Plot twists till the very last page of the book!
This is my first Clare Mackintosh book and I really enjoyed it! It‘s dark, enigmatic, and jam-packed with secrets, betrayal, and family drama.
Finished my November #bookspin
It was so good! A grieving young mother wants answers to why her parents committed suicide - within 18 months. But as she looks for answers, she begins to uncover more than one secret. It sounded like your average thriller on the surface but it kept me guessing and throwing me off which was so exciting. Enjoy this one a lot!
@TheAromaofBooks
UGH! ♥️ Clare Mackintosh did it again! I need her to write faster. I need every suspense book I will ever read to be written by her. So DAMN good. Also - 16 points for #TeamSlaughter.
I don‘t have my Readathon lists and prompts with me at work, so I‘ll have to sort those out later. For now I‘m tagging #Sbooktober #screamathon #littenlisten #FBCreadathon #outstandingoctober and #October20in4
Went on a small book buying spree earlier today. B&N was having an awesome sale. Lots of books were $5 - $7 including hardbacks. I got 3 paperbacks for $6 a piece (After Anna, Baby Teeth, Local Girl Missing), 2 hardbacks (Us Against You and Let Me Lie) for $7 a piece, and a journal I‘m hoping to turn into my next bullet journal. Not used to scoring so big at B&N - excited chick here 😀
Here are my planned reads for #Gothtober! Since I‘m at work right now, I have no idea what book is my oldest purchased. I would definitely have to look at my shelves. And as for a book that features a character with grey morality... I‘m hoping one of my other planned reads will qualify.

(Sorry to jam up your feed, just trying to catch up on July reviews so I can finally get to August ones!)
This thriller did not do it for me. Even listening at a super fast paced couldn't make this exciting. I was bored, I guessed the twists, and I'm not sure why I finished it. I don't know if I'll try other books by the author, but this one definitely wasn't for me.
Anyone else checked this one out? I started it last week but took a break because it was so slow, and am trying to get into it again today and just don‘t know!
This great psychological thriller eBook is on sale today for $1.99!

so good! A little predictable but enough going on it makes up for it. Will be buying all of her books!
I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book. It keeps you on your toes, trying to work out who did what.
Kept me guessing lots of twists and didn‘t see what was coming . Worth a read if you like a twisty thriller 😁
My latest library haul - I don‘t know if I‘ll get through all these books, because I‘ve been very picky on what I‘m in the mood to read! But I‘m gonna try 😊

Thank you Trish! 😘
This is SO twisty! Really kept me guessing, made me exclaim out loud on three occasions, made me SOB (I'm a bit emotional at the moment in fairness) so so very good. Been spoilt with my last two reads! If you read it and don't absolutely just fall in love with the adorable Murray then we can't be friends
Awful book hangover from The Truths and Triumphs of Grace Atherton, so going for something completely different
This book really takes you on a ride with quite a few plot twists and an ending I never expected. Usually I can guess the outcome but this one took me by surprise. It didn‘t have me turning every page for more but was definitely a good quick read.
I found this novel a bit of a slow burner; I wasn‘t so hooked that I had to read on until the last few chapters. However, the final twists and turns and the emotional connection I felt with the detective, Murray, meant that I really did enjoy the story overall.
Day 8 twelve books of Christmas. Currently reading this third novel and loving it!!
Stayed up late to finish listening to this one. I expected the twists and turns but wasn‘t expecting the one at the very end! I really liked Murray and his wife and am glad Mackintosh developed those characters. Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
The twists! The turns! This book had some tricks up its sleeve! The plot got a little fantastic at times, but overall a good read.
I just loved the detective and his relationship with his wife. All the relationships were well done. It is a rare occasion when a thriller (or really just about any book, to be honest) handles mental illness thoughtfully and intelligently, but this one did, in several instances.
I am so over the unreliable narrator genre - I think it‘s the literary world‘s new Macarena or Gangnam style. That wouldn‘t be so bad but the author just seems to repeat the same stuff over and over with not much substance. Some of the subplots injected some interest, and I have to give credit for the unexpected twists and turns (some bordering on unbelievably so). I give this 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ but I‘m not sure I‘ll read any of her other future books.
I‘m somewhat disappointed with this as I‘ve enjoyed her debut & her 2nd book wasn‘t too bad. Admittedly Mackintosh has the ability to spin crazy plot twists, this one is of no exception. I counted, 4 plot twists! The mystery is intriguing, the pacing suspenseful, but I had problems with bits of the story. I liked the side story of retired Detective Murray and his relationship with his wife. This bit saves the book. Overall alright, didn‘t wow me.
I am a tad torn on this one. I loved all of the characters, who were very well fleshed out. However for me the story went from well constructed to interesting twist to full on melodrama which left me a little cold. That said I have really enjoyed all Clare Mackintosh‘ books and I would always recommend to anyone who likes a well structured, well written thriller
Oooo, a colleague put me onto this series where a different crime fiction author takes novelist Simon Toyne through a true crime that inspired them. Simon then tries to solve the case. The first episode was about a double murder in Ireland and was presented by Claire Mackintosh.
Sadly disappointed with this one especially since I loved her other books. The book went from 'good start' to 'meh' to 'cliche' to 'ooh, nice twist' to 'ooh, another twist' to 'sad' to 'what the??' at the end.
So... has this ever happened to you? While browsing the New Release shelf at the library today, I was surprised to see a new Clare Mackintosh. Score! I didn‘t even know one was coming out! So I borrowed it, got home, and dove in... to discover on page 7 that no, I‘ve totally read this story before. Turns out I read it 6 months ago! I swear, the cover did not even look familiar. 🤷🏻♀️I blame it on all of her titles sounding so similar. 😋
I guessed some twists and was surprised by others. Overall an entertaining book.
