🤓📚Second instalment of Bosch & I loved it!
A complex mystery bogged down by mundane details making it slow-paced and boring.
The plot is so intricate, so clever, and the resolution so satisfying. There is nothing I do not like about this one. The title has a double meaning: the thin ice that is very dangerous bc it‘s hard to see on pavement; and the designer street drug. Both can be slippery slopes.

#MarchMadnessReadathon Day 29
This is the second book in the Bosch series. I like Harry better in the later books. In those, his moral code is more fleshed out. In these earlier ones, he‘s pretty much a lone wolf cop who thinks he‘s the only one in the department with a sense of justice. I still like him and the stories — this one took a twist near the end that I hadn‘t remembered. Up next as our road trip book is the 3rd one, The Concrete Blonde.
“Everybody matters or nobody matters”. My choice for February, more a tribute to the series (so far , about to start book 10) #12Booksof2022 I love Bosch and his persistence in solving a case . He is always painfully aware that bureaucracy, power, & fame conspire against finding justice for the little guy or anyone else for that matter. Honorable mention:Crossroads by Franzen, though I couldn‘t quite give it the February pick.
This is the first Connelly I've read with my eyes rather than listening to the audiobook, and I was mildly surprised that the feeling of watching a movie rather than reading a book is just as strong when I read as when I listen. I'm also mildly surprised that the convolutions of the plot don't hinder my enjoyment of this novel. There's one character I kind of hope shows up again as he just kind of dropped away, and I liked him.
So this is the 2nd of the Bosch series & it didn‘t disappoint.Bosch gets drawn into a case he isn‘t really assigned to, plays some hunches & even follows the trail to Mexico infuriating command. Twists & turns keep it an exciting read .Connelly does a great job making the LA area as big a character as the human ones.I think Concrete Blonde is next up .
#FestivePhotoChallenge Day 4 Book and chill. Just starting this one and having a little hot chocolate with my whipped cream

Another Bosch winner! Ya'll are gonna get tired of my glowing praise for this series, I can already tell 🙈
#Mexico Has to be the second book in the Harry Bosch series, much of this book takes place in Mexico. I re-read this book last week.
#BiblioMAYnia
As we approach the final evening of #24B4Monday I am staring the second book in the Harry Bosch Series, this is a re-read for a Group Read.
Schedule for The Black Ice Group Read we are doing on Librarything. Aiming to read through every book in the Harry Bosch Universe.
Sadly I‘m not doing a lot of reading these days, but still try to get in 1-2 books a month via audio. Hoping to increase that to three in April with the help of #deweysreadathon. I‘m listening to the first Harry Bosch mystery. ½ way done and really enjoying it. A gritty police procedural with good pacing. I hope you all are enjoying your readathon choices!
#StayHome24in48
With #audiocleaning earlier and then #audiopuzzling this evening, I managed to get in 11 hours and 29 minutes (my timer was counting down). #24in48 #readathon
I read a short story, 2 picture books and about 75% of an audio book.
#StayHome24in48
I‘m currently #audiocleaning and prepping for the week to the tagged book. Trying to adjust to my husband being home while I do this. 🤪
I have only completed about 5 hours for the #readathon so far.
#StayHome24in48
The weather here is rainy and gloomy today. I‘m #audioprepping veggies so my husband can make chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight. We aren‘t sick. It‘s just for comfort. 😊 24in48 #readathon
#StayHome24in48
I got a late start for the #readathon and only listened to a little bit of my current audiobook before starting the head nod. 💤 Goodnight, all. #24in48
Note: My timer is counting down.
2nd book in the Harry Bosch series. Entertaining story, liked following it through to the end. Looking forward to more.
The borderline and crossing the borderline is a strong element in this book, and has Bosch crossing the borderline into Mexico. #Movember #Borderline
So I LOVE that I've only read the first two of the Bosch books because that means I have tons more to look forward to. This one was terrific.
Almost at 4 1/2 hours for #MayMakeup. Not too bad for the first day. And this book checked off 3 prompts for #MayScavengerHunt (300+ pages, someone dies, and part of a series). Now on to the newest Firefly book.
I have such a hard time with audiobooks!! The only time I listen to them is on long car rides. I think I would have liked this more if I had read it. Not giving up on Bosch yet!
Boss is out today so I've got Libby pulled up for a little sneaky reading 😉
Bosch is calling and I can't resist!
#libby
I left my husband two years ago and I remember being determined to put my tree up that year. To do Christmas and enjoy despite what else is going on. Love this!! #bosch
Thanks to the sample included in the first book in the series, I just couldn‘t help myself by getting the sequel and starting to listen immediately! This continues the series nicely and I love the narration! Bosch looks into an apparent suicide while also looking into the titular new drug on the streets... Great for #audiocoloring - and #audiocleaning too!
Friday night and as i have had loads of work reading this week i am finding relief in a good old crime novel and im enjoying the bosch journey. Im a bit distracted by the football and wife and dtr looking at prom dresses on line ( this is our third prom, I'm just glad this American tradition wasn't around when i was a teenager as i always picture either carrie or high school musical) Friday night ramblings!
There is more of the Harry Bosch that I love so much here: justice and what is right overrides rules most of the time, and he carries baggage from his past. Gahhh, I love his commitment to finding the truth. I didn‘t love this story quite as much as the first (And that probably isn‘t really fair, The Black Echo is AMAZING). Connelly writes so solidly.
I‘m moving ahead with the next installment and I‘m reading in order of the Bosch Universe.
#FierceFeb #NightInTheCity Harry Bosch ❤️:
....He loved the city most at night , the night hid many of the sorrows. It silenced the city, yet ......
I must get back to Michael Connelly & Bosch soon , I really miss reading these books. It‘s been too long. Must prioritize Bosch ❤️❤️❤️ some crime soon .....
In his second Harry Bosch novel, Michael Connelly has the detective involved in a case where an officer has committed suicide. However, things aren‘t always as they seem and suddenly Harry is seeing links between three cases that he thought were unrelated. His investigation takes him to Mexico where justice is more a commodity than an abstraction. There are plenty of twists and turns, and I‘m starting to realize that Bosch is always good company!
I've been in a hardcore slump the past couple of weeks. Going back to Harry to hopefully shake it off. 🤞🏼
My wife told me to do it. ❤️
