I read this with my 9 year old. We both loved the story. We watched the movie over the weekend (a big thumbs up from the 9 & even the 15 year old). I liked the movie but liked the book more. We have borrowed the next 2 books from the library to continue following Roz‘s adventures.

As the world feels scarier and scarier each day, I decided to find something to read that would be comforting and uplifting, and The Wild Robot was that book. For middle-grade readers (but frankly, anyone should be reading this), Peter Brown gives us a found family that will warm your heart and make you believe in unconditional love. I think it would be great for a family to read and talk about together. All the stars!!

I really like the themes of this book and how it‘s done in a way for a kid to understand. Even as an adult reader I took away the messages from this book

I love this book for young readers and the message about kindness and perseverance. I would definitely use this is my classroom around 4th grade.

#BookHaul for a good cause. My local library put out a call for new or gently used books for kids of all ages.

They partner with P.E.I. Literary Alliance to distribute them over the holidays across the province in Xmas Hampers. I haven‘t read any of these, but the descriptions sounded good and the price point was low enough that I could buy doubles for some. Gotta get books into as many middle school hands as possible.

Graphic novels really are not my favorite thing to read but I enjoyed the storyline in this book. The illustrations in this book are also very good, and I love how the robot is drawn. This was definitely a cute book that I would recommend to students.

This book is entertaining for readers as it tells the story of a robot trying to find its place in nature as it raises a young gosling. There is lots of action and surprises as the robot learns what it is like to care for and love a living creature. It is a little bit of a slow read at the beginning, but The Wild Robot is overall a great book.

I also started reading this one cause I also want to watch the film. 😃🙌 So far the writing is definitely for children. It‘s super easy, sweet & repetitive. A nice surprise (since I tend to buy books by its cover sometimes 🤷🏽‍♀️🙈), is that the robot is a female. 😊 I‘m so happy the book doesn‘t have the darn Netflix sticker or a movie tie-in cover! 😮‍💨🙌💃

I had a spare moment between appointments yesterday while in Columbus. So, naturally I had to stop into The Book Loft and pick up two copies of The Wild Robot for both of my kiddos. If you haven‘t been to The Book Loft before I highly recommend it. It‘s always a good time! 🤖

Cute story. Robot becoming one with nature of the land and animals and adopting a bird son. Short book, short chapters. Great way to break up the more serious current readings.

I really loved this middlegrade story. A robot named Roz winds up on an island & learns to adapt to her environment & befriend the local wildlife population. She makes herself a home & a community. I thought this was a great exploration of wildlife & nature from a unique perspective. I can't wait to continue Roz's story in the next installment & I'm looking forward to seeing how the film adaptation turns out

This is a cute little novel about a robot, Roz, washing ashore an island and learns to be wild. She learns from watching the animals, slowly learning their language. Heartbreaking at points, as the story takes no prisoners with reality. Animals die; frozen in winter and shot by hunters. It‘s a reality of life, and it is crafted sensitively. Liked how she raises a gosling as her own son. Wonderful connection. The ending surprised me.

Feels like a classic! Beautiful slim novel following a shipwrecked robot just trying to make sense of the world and make friends. Thanks for the recommendations here on Litsy, and I‘ll be sure to recommend this to my middle schoolers. 💗🤖🪿🌲

Listened to this on audio and liked it. It was a very sweet and simple story with a heartfelt lesson or two.

My first book to celebrate Middle Grade March! 💚

Such a sweet story! 💚

This MG book about a robot who becomes a parent to a goose was adventurous and heartfelt. It explores how humans and climate change are both altering the natural world, but it does so in a very accessible way to younger readers.

I'll admit though, the end got a little futuristic by comparison to the rest, and now I'm curious to see what unfolds in the next book.

The illustrations were also lovely.

I had fun shopping for my niece's bday and, of course, had to read the book! It's a delightful story, and I appreciated the humanity the author instills in Roz and the lessons about nature and adapting to a new environment.

I've been reading this with the kids at bedtime for a couple months. We maxed out our renewals at tbe library because we only read a few pages a night after a few picture books. Nina cried when I told her it would have to go back to the library soon, because she wanted to "keep reading it forever." So naturally I bought a copy to keep ? I think its safe to say they loved it! #raisingreaders

So enjoyed reading these books with my grandson. Whoever thought books about a robot could be so emotional 🥲? Good lessons about kindness and finding family and belonging. 4/5🤖s

This was a very cute middle grade read. The book covers a lot of nature related topics such as life cycles, migration, and animal behaviors. I will probably suggest this to my daughter when she's a bit older!

Read the first of these 2 books for a Nature read for #Hikeathon and HAD to read the sequel to find out what happened to ROZ, the Wild Robot! Some of the children saw me reading this and were very happy. Such a sweet book. There are some emotionally scary parts for younger readers.

This was a little surprise! A friend recommended it to me after she read it to her family as a read-aloud, and it did not disappoint. It‘s such a different type of story, in a good way, and I loved how bite-sized the chapters are…good for a busy family to work in here and there. My kids definitely want the sequel.

Initially the animals distrust Roz, but through kindness she makes friends. She finds family and a home in the wild, until a past she is unaware of catches up to her.

I finished the book from my TBR, but ran out of time with my audiobook. I would have been fine but my husband decided he wanted to watch something with me. 🤷‍♀️ I am happy with my outcome.

Roz the robot washes up on shore of an island full of animals. The animals are scared of the robot at first, but eventually they befriend her when she starts to raise a baby goose. This middle grade book is so adorable and the sketches are amazing. This little robot had some much emotion! It was perfect. Great book.

Reading/Discussing books with my 9 year old daughter gives me such joy. We LOVED this one and can‘t wait to start the next. Highly recommend it for your littles!

Finished this one on Friday, but I really didn‘t know how I felt about it.

It‘s a middle grade book that will expose them to the reality that different doesn‘t always mean bad or dangerous. It also touches upon the chosen family, finding one‘s purpose, and love and kindness.

I will be reading book 2 soon.

This was a sweet read and perfect for middle schoolers to explore themes of difference, family, friendship and feelings. Simple, accessible language which is enriched by crafted sentence structures. You end up caring for Roz, the robot, and I definitely want to discover out what becomes of her in the sequel.
