Once again it‘s been a minute since I‘ve done a photo challenge so it‘s time. Think I‘ll try to only post books from my tbr for this challenge.

This was a great listen. Read by the author, it explores the history of his own book lust, his time working in and frequenting various bookshops in the Bay Area. He packs in a ton of history about book selling, book binding, early writing to publishing, libraries, renowned sellers and the future of reading and books themselves. I particularly enjoyed that with later releases he includes (2 in this edition) updates on the state of the trade. 4⭐️
This one was just okay for me. I wanted more memoir and less history, please.
I loved this book so much! I want to order 500 copies of it and give it to everyone who is confused by my passion for reading. It also gave me some warm fuzzy feelings when he describes the bookstores he‘s worked in. I can‘t wait to go visit my favorite bookstores & libraries when it‘s safe!! Definitely worth a read for all book lusters and bibliophiles 🤓💗📚
While perusing my next read from my TBR box (I‘m ashamed to say just how full this box is 😬) I picked this book up that I bought 3 years ago at a library book sale. I read 7 pages while I sat on the floor and I think it‘s just what I need right now: Essays that celebrate the unique experience of the bookstore. Sign me up!! I‘m missing the experience of waundering around my library and favorite bookstore, but this is only temporary 💖 #StayStrong
I think if you loved Susan Orlean‘s, The Library Book, you‘ll love this too. Published in 2006, it‘s a tad dated on the current bookstore scene, but nevertheless, it‘s a delightful tour of the contemporary retail bookstore along w/ a historical tour of books, publishing, and the selling of books. As we shelter in place, and I can‘t go visit my favorite bookstores, I thoroughly enjoyed Buzbee‘s reminiscing about bookstores/sellers, & book buyers.
Hey readers! This is a quick shout-out to local bookstores and other small businesses who are being affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Many bookshops stay viable by offering more than just books - regular author visits, book clubs, book fairs and other events. Without these events things are going to be tight for a lot of these family-owned stores. If you can, support your local indies during this time! Check out bookstorelink.com...
It's about one degree under the reading outside limit, but there's a half decent breeze. Not a whole lot of good places to read outside around here anyway, especially since I can't really sit on the ground.
The bookshop where I work (on and off for 12 years now) on a snowy Seattle day.
A pleasant read - a mix of memoir and the history of books and bookstores. The author used to work at bookstores and as a publisher's rep.

One of the best parts about working in a bookshop is being on the frontlines politically. The store in Seattle where I work, the Secret Garden Bookshop, is putting our ARCs up for sale and donating the proceeds to RAICES Family Reunification and Bond Fund because we believe that families belong together. If you‘re in the area, stop by and say hello and help us make a difference.
I call this my introductory textbook to book trade. Loved the insights into the history and various facets of the thriving industry. An industry that's the lifeline for us readers.
The folklore of Ulysses and those bookstores mentioned here... #santhiReads2018
Life is good when the weekend sees books completed and the week starts with completing another satisfying book!
Word! #nowreading #currentread
A great book will never go out of style - books go with every outfit.

Absolutely! There are so many gems of book love in this tribute to booksellers
😍😍
To the shelves that wrap around a person like a blanket, happy belated Valentine‘s Day. 😘
To build a city of books - a dream vocation indeed 😍😍
The #bookseller had become a #bookstore.
And as always, more books, more readers, more booksellers.
... this may have been the moment when I realized there would never be enough time in my life to read everything.
... that the #books are right, we are not alone.

This tribute to books is stirring such strong bookish emos that my eyes fill with tears, to see the words capture my devotion to books.
Once upon a time, never sounded more magical #nowreading
I went in search for Buzbee's book and found 2 other titles I couldn't resist! #librarysg #librarybooks #TBR
Twinkle lights in the children‘s section. Be still my heart. This place is magic.
A real fear of mine!
A memoir about books and bookshops which is heartening to read... Especially for someone who loves them both. 😁
Also this quote totally sums up my current attitude towards book buying... 😂
I loved this, a detailed history of book selling from antiquity to the present day. This book is an absolute joy.
#TBRtemptation post 2! I love this cover, don't you? And I love getting various peoples' viewpoints from different parts of the publishing industry, in this case a bookseller & sales rep. LB goes through his experiences in the book world starting in childhood--he regularly ordered from The Weekly Reader--and interweaves his favorite parts of bookish history, from the Library of Alexandria to Paris' Shakespeare & Co. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Day #7 #lighthouses #marchintoreading I thought I was going to be original with this one but @shelf-improvement beat me to it. Not technically a lighthouse but it looks like one (and the two bells have lighthouses on them). Such a lovely quiet book.
All the books I could think of that featured real #lighthouses were books that had made me wrinkle my nose. But this book with an only kinda lighthouse changed my life. #marchintoreading
Day 25 #BooksPublishedInThe2000s #ReadJanuary Ace patiently allowing me to pose a few books published in the 2000s around him, & then hoping we'll go for a w-a-l-k (he knows the word, so I don't even dare type it ?). "Can You Keep A Secret" is hilarious & a great bathtub read (in fact, my copy shows signs of being water-logged). I stayed up all night to read (& bawl over) The Art Of Racing In The Rain. The Yellow-Light Bookshop is beautiful!
These can be filed under 'starts with Y,' right? My next read and one of my favorite books about books. #SeasonsReadings2016
A delightful love letter to books and bookselling.
My first pick for #rayadenganbuku. This book is a tribute to those who're inflicted by book lust since childhood and how the first book they read had given them opportunity to wander beyond their ordinary routine....which finally lead to the 2nd book and so forth. Lol.
"I'm happy to be here in this cozy and solid place, happy to be alone among others." Ahh, yes.
Sobering number! Must Read Harder!
