This was a very enjoyable read but I‘m not sure why it‘s been on recommended #romance lists. While there is a romantic subplot, the story is about a bookish woman who likes being alone. She struggles with interpersonal skills and is suddenly dealing with a lot of family relationships.

I found this a warm, fun book to read. Nina has a snarky personality, and she depicts her anxiety well. There are a lot of literary references, and the Trivia competitions filled with pop culture that makes the read more exciting and lots of fun. The inclusion of pages from Nina's daily schedule gives this a Bridget Jones Diary feel and adds humor and foreshadowing to the following chapters.

This was so good! Can I be best friends with Nina Hill now? 😊

What a read! I had fun with this modern day romance.

Nina Hill lives & breathes books, she works at a bookstore & loves reading at home. Life throws a curveball to her quiet life with new people outside of trivia night & multiple book clubs.

I related to her social anxiety & wanting to be alone with pets. Coming out of your shell is beneficial for your own wellness. This book came from my local book club and I will pass it on to you. Enjoy!

Maybe I preemptively got ahead of myself by sharing a #ProgressReport on Wednesday rather than waiting to post a #BookReport on Saturday, but here I am... on a Sunday... being fashionably tardy to the book party.

With the holiday, shopping on Friday, and decorating yesterday and today, things have been a blur of activity and very little reading.

absolutely loved this book except for the part when she seemed snobbish with other ppl‘s book choices or bookish quirks...so sick of the snobbery... #readinggoal

I probably would have passed this by but for the praise of several fellow booksellers! I‘m glad I gave it a try, listening to the audiobook on Libro.fm with my husband. This was way quirkier and twistier than I expected, and it charmed me! Nina‘s struggle to rise above her own anxiety, trust issues, and introversion really spoke to me and were written really realistically. You‘ll root for Nina till the end!

I've heard such mixed reviews on this book, so I'm excited to see for myself what it's like. 🤓 I feel like Waxman can be overly cheesy to the point of eye rolls, but I tend to like her overall plotlines so it's hard for me to say whether I'm really a fan of her or not. 🤷🏼‍♀️

A summer beach (or in my case, airplane ride) read for those wanting a lighthearted story about a bookish nerd with an extended eccentric family and romance. #eryneckireads2019

This book was smart, funny, warm and a great pick me up! I adored all the book references and the love of reading as the bonding agent for some of the characters.

I see much of myself in Nina, a fact I find equally comforting and concerning.

Raised by a loving nanny while her photographer mother travelled the world, Nina has always been a loner. When a lawyer shows up at her door to invite her to the reading of her father's will she finds out she's been living just a few miles away from her huge family her whole life. As she gets to know them she learns that maybe shes not a loner, she's just been alone.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Nina Hill is perfectly fine reading her books and being alone. In fact, she prefers it. Then suddenly, her world gets really crowded with new found family, and even a love interest?! She starts to crack under the pressure. With tons of trivia, Nina is a trivia master after all, and book references, this one will be fun for anyone who loves books. Quirky, fun and light. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I didn‘t enjoy this book as much as I expected but it was still a cute read.

Book 280 10/27/19

Nearing the end of Hour 21, with this book & my faithful reading partner. I took a 2 hour nap, but it‘s 4:40am & I‘m struggling to stay awake. Considering a pot of coffee or mug of tea, even though when the Readathon ends in just over 3 hours I‘m headed back to bed. There‘s no way I‘ll finish this book, but I‘m trying to make up for lost time yesterday. The coffee or tea will have to wait, because I‘m not moving my snuggle bug. ❤️📚 #deweyoct

Nina learns a lot about life in this book. She loves cats, coffee, books, & being alone. But is that all there is??? I love love love this book. Cute, light, quirky.

Did I care? NO.

I have been in a capital M M-O-O-D and this was the most perfect pick-me-up.

LOVED IT.

This book is too much fun. I laughed out loud through the whole thing. I loved Nina and the characters around her. Great read. 🤓

Perfect, just perfect! An absolute joy. I loved the author's writing and thinking - charming and delightful story. All stars!

I expected this to be nothing more than a fun pick me up but it actually really spoke to me. I found the characters surprising and thought they had a lot to say. I wasn‘t into the romance in this story, but the friendships and familial relationships that developed were so deep and colorful that it almost didn‘t matter.

I haven't even actually started reading but I already love this book for having a planner page in the beginning of the book.

I've heard good things about this book so now that my library hold came through, I'm basically ignoring the rest of my books in progress. Excited to read this one!

Fall is my favorite time of year... 🧡

I loved listening to this one on audio! Nina is a great character; book loving, stick to the routine, trivia nerd, raised as an only child only to find out the father she never knew lived nearby, included her in his will and opened her up to a large, unconventional family of sorts after he passed away. Throw in book store drama and a new beau, this made for a light, fun read.

🎧 I‘m on the fence. Without the Tom subplot I would have LOVED this book, LOVED IT! It‘s similar to Eleanore Oliphant. The story was amazing until the anxious unable to cope with people/reality book nerd attracts a good looking man who falls immediately in love with her. Nina goes from bumbling anxious idiot to confident sex diva overnight 🤨🙄 With Tom ⭐️⭐️3/4 ... without Tom ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ... final ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/4. I‘m annoyed cuz I mostly loved it❣️

I went back and forth on this, maybe because the story itself was a bit all over the place. At first I thought I was reading about a book loving trivia nerd, but then it morphed into a story of a long lost family. Somewhere in the middle it all melds together, but a bit awkwardly. Our heroine, Nina, is supposed to be the quirky type, but I don‘t think they made her all that quirky, minus a few moments. Bonus points for a Rick Astley nod, however.

Is it wrong to be jealous of a fictional character‘s bookshelves?

This was delightful. I expected a little more snark based on Waxman‘s Other People‘s Houses but wasn‘t disappointed when that didn‘t happen.

I loved this book. As a book news and library worker i appreciated everything about Nina hill. Light read. Fairly clean. I was sad to see the book end.

I have so much to do. But i need a little time with nina hill. Started last night and as a library worker i am already in love with her. 😂😂😂

I can‘t help but wonder if Abbi Waxman and Kelly Harms knew they‘d be releasing seemingly similar novels, both with bookish librarians as reluctant heroines, more or less simultaneously. I haven‘t read this one yet, but I‘m about to. Let the compare and contrast begin!

This book didn‘t have much substance, but I really love how much I identified with the main character. It also made me laugh out loud, and that doesn‘t happen often.

A cute epigraph to start what is hopefully a fun read.

I love sentences like this that tell you all you need to know about a character.
