The first half is full of teenage angst and had me really rolling my eyes. But in the second half the pace picks up and is much better. Some parts of the story felt quite contradictory and overall I‘m not convinced that it‘s the best developed fantasy world. However I mainly enjoyed it.

I read this series years ago and liked it so much I decided to give the audio a try.

I…I have questions. My 11 year old made me read this, so I knew somewhat what I was getting myself into. But why did Henri let Mark in on everything? How is Sam allowed to just leave? What is Paradise going to think when they see the school is destroyed? I know there are 6 other books in the series, and perhaps they cover these questions. Overall, a decent YA book.

I'm starting a reread of this series with a friend and chose to listen to this first book. I enjoyed the story (again) but it took me some time to get used to the voices the narrator chose to use. A few of them had me bursting into laughter when I first heard them. I don't know if I'll continue on in audio. Maybe I'll give the next one a try. 🤔

I had loved the movie, but I couldn‘t stop listening to the book! Just a fantastic book one! Love all the characters and how their relationships grow. Love the suspense and action! I am so excited to dive into the next book to see what happens!

Funny I‘m not doing the #Readathon #24in48 challenge but I sure listened to ALOT today! I didn‘t want to take the challenge bc I knew I‘d be gone a lot today for my daughters archery 🏹 tournament. But apparently I surprised myself! Besides listening to this book (& absolutely loving it!) I also watched the movie! I‘m so excited about this book as well as reading/listening to the whole series! I am disappointed they didn‘t finish making the movies

Saw the movie ages ago before reading the book. Too bad the movie did not earn much for a sequel for the Power of Six.

I read this and a bit of Power of Six when they first came out, years back, but now I'm hoping to finish the series. I'm loving this audio! Can't wait to listen to the other books!

Even though it begins as a simple on-the-run and not fitting in story, I quickly became invested in John and company and as the action picked up in the second half of the book, the pages flew.

Definitely a fun, but not too complicated YA series, at least not yet. I‘m interested to see where he takes this story of planetary exiles, on the run, and trying to organize against a larger force to save their planet, and perhaps our own...

I really wanted to read this series because I actually liked the movie but when I tried this book, I just couldn't get into. Maybe I'll try it again next year.

I had low expectations from this book since I've heard it was a bit boring. It was good, better than what i expected. It was exciting and it just made me cry at the end. I did not appreciate the romantic part though. I think the book will still be as good without the romance, They are 15 year old teenagers and I don't think romantic love was that important. Still, I love all the characters! I'll definitely read the next one.

The love story part of this was more annoying than I remember, although fairly true to their age--15 and 16--but other than that it wasn't too bad. If I remember correctly the books do get better so I'm looking forward to that.

With the first series complete and the spin off started, I wanted to finally finish it. Which means I have to start over at the beginning. I really enjoyed the first 4 the first time through, we'll see how they hold up.

By the way, love the covers :)

I get each of my kids a book for their stocking. I have all but one. 13-year old son is getting I Am Number Four, 10-year old daughter is getting the new Dork Diaries, 8-year old daughter is getting the 3rd Princess in Black, and 4-year old son is getting a superhero abc book. My 12-year old daughter is the hard one. Huge reader, loves series. Has already read and loved HP, Percy Jackson, Janitors, Land of Stories, Charlie Bone...any suggestions?

Great book, wish I had the rest of the series! Definitely more for teenagers than pre teens or adults, but wonderfully written.
