This book was challenging and timely (though I think this subject matter is always timely/relevant). It wasn‘t easy to listen to, but it was certainly worth it. Thought provoking and important. The narrators were very good.🎧

I‘ve always enjoyed Jodi Picoult and this thought-provoking novel is no exception.
I don‘t know now to rate this book.I liked the writing and the story. I liked most of the characters. I admit that the author and I have different political views.I‘m not basing this statement solely on this book.My life experiences have taught me that some things work both ways. This doesn‘t mean that I don‘t believe that the things described in this book happen. All in all, this was a really good book that I am glad I read.
I‘m slowly but surely getting my library organized again! This is my newest edition! We found the card catalog at an antique store ❤️ I‘ve always wanted one!
Attention #LitsyLove friends 📣 I‘m going to be giving some books away! I‘ve got to make some room!! If you‘re in the US and interested in any of these let me know! ❤️📚❤️
Yes!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
This #temptingtitles #withantonyms is taken from the words of MLK and deals with racism in a very Jodi Picoult way. Enriched my understanding greatly.

A difficult read this one. For various reasons, some points I loved it but some points I didn‘t. Overall it‘s definitely worth a read
#jodipicoult #pick
Characters were nicely fleshed out and it was easy to relate to them.
This wasn't an easy book to read but really interesting. This made me to ponder some things and that's always positive.
Sometimes I felt there was a bit unnecessary repetition: same scene from several POVs.
This was captivating read.

I have the best husband!! He indulges my obsession with books! He was out today while I‘m at work and saw these books and asked me if I already have them ❤️ I do, but how sweet is that?!?!

One day, you look in the mirror, and see gray hair. One day, you realize there is less of your life left than what you‘ve already lived. And you think, How did this happen so fast? It was only yesterday when I was having my first legal drink, when I was diapering him, when I was young.
When this realization hits, you start doing the math. How much time do I have left? How much can I fit into that small space?

this book consists of by far one of the greatest courtroom scenes. the story is excellently written, and learning about the inspiration and process from the author‘s note is so interesting. focusing on hate and love, this book highlights just how similar those strong feelings are. it takes you through so many emotions, highlighting the impact of passive racism, and the resolution is everything. a phenomenal read, truly!
Read this book in two days. Loved the perspectives of each character and couldn't wait to see how the story would unfold. Great book club pick!
“It just goes to show you: every baby is born beautiful. It‘s what we project on them that makes them ugly.”
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” -Benjamin Franklin
Classic Picoult- page turner with some twists and turns, redemption and some likeable characters. Not perfect, but a perfect airport read.
Some times you read a book & you have to take a pause to think whether it was a plot twist, a character, a theme or that it was just such a good read. It was all those things, you are able to stand alongside each character share their experiences with a hand on your shoulder saying "No your experiences are not the same. No you don't really understand." I am still processing this book, my own white privilege & how I can strive to be better.
This is an important book and there were so many moments that resonated with me. This is a must read to help us understand our prejudices and how we can work on ourselves to be better. There were so many quotes in this book but I've chosen these three as I found myself agreeing wholeheartedly and recognised myself

An impromptu walk into town interrupted my reading session today but it did mean a walk along the seafront between rain showers. I'll never get tired of this view

Having a lazy Sunday with my nose in a book, tunes on the radio and a big cup of tea. Only 50 pages in and I am already invested. It is my first Jodi Picoult book and the style is very easy to pick up, looking forward to the nitty gritty of this book

My first month to try #bookspin. I‘m using this as a chance to have a starting place from my TBR. @TheAromaofBooks
I just started this book, but it is about a African American labor and Delivery nurse that experiences racism and discrimination from some of her patients. I choose this book because I like realistic fiction, you wild like this book if your into realistic fiction.
Many of Jodi‘s novels end up in a #courtroom, but this is one of my favorites! Her books are always well researched and really make you think about the circumstances at hand…

Between love and hate.” -45
When you read a book that doesn‘t include Covid 19 you get a glimpse of how innocent and free we use to live. This book right here? You will be thinking about when you are not reading. The tension. The assumptions. The stereotypes . The fact that the book stems from a real life stories. Read it. Also this was my first #JodiPicoult book. Those of you who know her and live her work, what would you recommend?
An eye opening read. Read for the #PopSugarReadingChallenge2021 and #spoopathon
3.75/5
While this book certainly had its flaws, I really enjoyed it overall. It definitely kept my attention, and I zoomed through it really quickly. If you're able to get past the fact that one of the main characters is a Black woman being written by a white woman (I know it's a sticking point for some), I think it's worth reading.
And it checked off another #Booked2021 prompt -- #COVIDheroes!

Wow! This one is going to stay with me for a long time. The writing is great, it was well-researched, and the characters were very fleshed out. The white supremacy chapters were hard to read and made me super uncomfortable, which I‘m sure was the point. But I‘m glad I powered through - it‘s an outstanding read!
#bookspinbingo - yay! 2 bingos!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I wanted to love it. I really did. So many good things have been said about this book, but something fell flat for me, something felt wrong and out of place.
I‘m not saying it was bad, it was well researched and the good characters were quite likeable. I just found myself rolling my eyes more than I should have. So this is a strong meh-pick.
Second book of the new year! 52 books in 52 weeks!
Prompt two: featuring the legal profession
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book deals with racism which I found really tough and jarring to read - especially in the first sections. I thought the characters were really fleshed out and it was a quick and absorbing read. I‘m glad I finally read it.
'Did you know that in The Lion King, the hyenas, the bad guys, all speak in either black or Latino slang? And that the little cubs are told not to go where the hyenas live?'
I always finish a JP book with the same feeling, wow that was a lot. And this book is A LOT. Totally absorbing.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So for someone who isn‘t a big fan of this author, I had to read two of her books this month 😂 As my #sundaybuddyread friends know, I am not liking her latest book. But yes @TheBookHippie I found a Picoult book I can get behind. This was a very good story about the racial problems of our justice system and I couldn‘t agree more. The sections in the white supremacist‘s voice were very hard to read. I didn‘t like the end but 👍 overall
WOW! Did not expect this book to be so powerful. It is right for this time we are in. I think it was written well.

I have four books to get through till September 20th. I hope I can do it. Got to keep my goals going. The tag book is audible and on my list. It has been an awesome read so far!

Tonight was the first meeting of the Legacy Meredian bookclub. Our discussion book was “Small Great Things” by Jodi Picoult. We had a lively conversation about this book and racism. If you would like to join us monthly, please let me know.
We started this for our community but all are welcome.
And yes, I am crazy running three book clubs each month. 😆😝🥰
“FREEDOM IS THE FRAGILE NECK of a daffodil, after the longest of winters. It‘s the sound of your voice, without anyone drowning you out. It‘s having the grace to say yes, and more important, the right to say no. At the heart of freedom, hope beats: a pulse of possibility.”
One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors #JodiPicoult 📚💗
This book deals with much of what we are dealing with in our country today...
I have seen two book events with Jodi Picoult, sponsored by our local indie at the college where I work. For Small Great Things she was interviewed by Damon Tweedy, author of Black Man in a White Coat. For A Spark of Light she was interviewed by John Grisham. The thing I remember most is that she talked about all the research she does before she ever starts writing, and Grisham said he doesn‘t research at all until he‘s finished! #AugustAuthors
I‘ve only read one #JodiPicoult book and I‘ve had this one for a while but just haven‘t gotten to it.

#AugustAuthors Day 27: I received this #JodiPicoult novel along with all these other goodies for feature at GatheringBooks a few years back. One of the many things I miss in Singapore. 😭😭
Going to put this book in hibernation. Just finding that the readability factor isn't there for this audiobook. I do have to admit the male narrator makes you really hate Turk. I really do loathe Turk with every fiber of my being. I'm probably going to read the e-book at some point down the road. I'm sure I'll like this book as it has a 92% pick rating on here.
1. Tagged. Also, I'm slowly making my way through A Game of Thrones.
2. Robin by Dave Itzkoff.
3. Malorie by Josh Malerman.

I selected this book with no idea of content as I read down my JP stack, but very nearly bailed after 15 minutes. I have no tolerance - none - for the opinions of a white suprematist. Before bailing, I saw my library made the audiobook available. The incredible Audra McDonald gives voice to the narration of Ruth Jefferson - it changed my whole experience.
Jodi‘s novels always bring about a #ripple of emotions with the controversial topics she writes about...
