It‘s so good !
Not my vibe. Probably reductive to chalk it up to being an ace reader disconnect. I appreciate coming at the idea of time-manipulating, perhaps even dimension hopping, powers at a unique angle, and challenging taboos, but the vast majority just felt like oooo, sex stuff (yay sex positivity, maybe?) and yeah, this relationship is off to an unhealthy, start, whoops, 🤷🏼♂️ and, even with (questionable) neurodivergent rep... yeah, not my thing.
Took a while to get into. Suzie and Jon can stop time when they reach orgasm and decide this is a good way to rob banks without being seen. How we get from discovery of their “superpower” to the robbery is done though clunky contrivance, but I guess we had to get there somehow. Once the set up was established it got more interesting. I got the first 3 volumes 2nd hand for the price of one so I‘m committed.
This book had such an interesting concept. 🤣 I wasnt sure I would like it but I did. It made me laugh and was an easy read. However, I was a little confused at times...
Another book off the #bookspinbingo board. #bookspin
1) The tagged book. I read it last Thursday night & found several parts pretty funny.
2) I teared up once or twice while reading the March #NYRBBookClub selection "Iza's Ballad."

Thanks for the tag @tournevis !

Soooo I‘m lucky to know a couple who color comic books. She lets me borrow some of their collection sometimes! This one is about a guy and girl who rob banks after they figure out they can stop time when they orgasm.
I thought this was an interesting concept. I didn't always love the characters but the colors were pretty and I liked that they're trying to save a library.
Ummm. This comic is totally insane! Full of sex humor and snark. And bank robbery! Don‘t read on the bus to work.
Interesting take on a scifi graphic novel. Its interesting but at the same time a little ehh. The back and forth is a little confusing at times. But interesting enough.
Another great cover 😍😍. This comic is soooo entertaining and there are so many hilarious details, like the Obamacore section in the porn store 😂
Reading Sex Criminals at the OB/GYN feels subversive and right. Also, this would be a great tattoo. 😍
💋💋💋 This comic was ok. I liked the premise but the execution didn't work very well for me.
I was expecting to really like this, but actually I was only so-so on it. I‘m not sure what didn‘t click for me - I‘m used to the first volumes of graphic novels setting up a lot of stuff and then not resolving it, so it can‘t be that, but it just left me a bit nonplussed.
Okay I only chose to read this because Patrick Rothfuss gave it a great review. Graphic novels aren‘t usually my thing. That said, this is hilarious.
Susie accidentally finds out that when she has orgasms, time stops. She‘s frustrated to learn this doesn‘t happen for most people. When she finally meets someone with the same, uh, talent? Things get really funny.
1 down for #4in48readathon. @Syndelle777
Thought that was gonna be Hamilton but it says Taft. 😜 I‘m not a huge fan of this series as it goes on but now I‘m kinda in it as I have to know what happens. Oh well. I‘ve got a sinus infection that‘s kicking my butt. Finally have time to rest so I plan on spending my day alternating between sleeping and reading.
Sex Criminals vol 1
About: something magical/supernatural happens when the height of pleasure is reached. But what if this new plane of existence is used to...rob banks?? 🤣🤣🤣
NOT for the prude readers. But if you‘re okay with sex stuff, then this series is quite hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

I really don't recommend this graphic novel. The story wasn't good.
Be aware of, nudity, bad language and drawings.
1/5 ⭐️
Taking a break from cleaning/organizing the apartment to check out this library find!
back to the future meets cinemax after dark ( playing careless whisper on my saxophone)

Deadpool - the comics (at least those I've read), well they're not great tbh, but that movie sure was fun! Plus it's Ryan Reynolds.
Sex Criminals - I love this series! But it took a bit of convincing... I mean, come on, a girl who stops time when she has sex meets a guy who can do the same?? But yes, read it!
A Bollywood Affair - cheesy damsel in distress/child bride plot. Cured my #bookhangover though!
What Fridays are made of - mini key lime pie and some graphic novels. 😄👍
Vol 1-3 These were a fun read. About a group of people especially a couple, who can freeze time when they orgasm. I like Suzie's quest to save the library. Some serious issues are brought up.
Of course I'm a day late with day 14 - #riotgrams - #kissingcover - because of course I am. I was busy reading and working and doing Valentine's day things yesterday with my love. This is the only cover I could think of that involved kissing so it was my obvious choice 💖💋 #allthebooks
This is great! If you like outrageous heists and dirty puns, this is the series for you! I'll definitely be continuing the series, and I'm glad it was a part of my #LitsyPartyofOne. 😄
So I fell asleep for a bit--quite the party animal, I know--and when I awoke from my slumber, I opened up some comics I've been meaning to read on my laptop. Issue #1 of Sex Criminals contains a book-saving party! So fitting for #LitsyPartyofOne.
Another comic found on Hoopla. I'm wavering between pick and so-so here. The storyline is unique and the characters funny, but the whole thing felt like it was just setting up for the rest of the series. 3.5 ⭐️
6th book/1st graphic novel of #24in48. Two people who can stop time with their orgasms find each other and team up to have sex and rob banks. It's as creative and outrageous as it sounds, exploring themes like loneliness, whether the end justifies the means, and (obviously) sexuality. I probably ruined my eyesight a little trying to read the tiny text of the many jokes and gems hidden in the background art, but it was worth it. One qualm: 👇🏾
I have been wanting to read this forever but felt weird requesting it via interlibrary loan. Thanks to those of you who posted about Hoopla, I discovered my public library has it! #blamelitsy
Casseroles prepped ✅ Cornbread and biscuits crumbledfor stuffing ✅ Bird all set to be shoved in the oven at an ungodly hour tomorrow AM ✅ Rest of the evening free to drink and read ✅ Anyone read these? I'm excited to dive in. #whiskeyginger
So, I guess my TBR pile might be slightly out of hand since I didn't realize I already owned this book when I borrowed it at the library today 😬
Interesting and somewhat provocative but not in the obvious way. Provocative in the way the love story develops and grows. I enjoyed it. I am definitely buying it for the library (it just came out in French).
So this graphic novel is fun but has a weird premise. The characters are criminals who can stop time when they have sex. They use this time to rob banks. It's well drawn and the story is interesting. #octphotochallenge #comicgraphicnovel
The art is great, the concept is hilariously original, but I just can't get into it.
Day 27. CURRENTLY READING • 4 THINGS Day 28. LOVE IS... • BIG vs SHORT BOOKS • SUNDAY STEALS #currentlyreading #augustofpages #4things #loveis #coyerphoto #bigvsshortbooks #sundaysteals #serialtalesinaugust
For all its more irreverent and fantastical elements, at its heart, Sex Criminals is a refreshingly honest look at the reality of love and sexual exploration: anticlimactic first times, the woeful inadequacy of sex education, and ultimately how magical and important sex can become when you finally find someone you click with. Powerful stuff in a fun package, masterfully done.
This is hilarious and sexy and weird and the art is rad. Fun series. Will certainly continue reading.
