Mysteries/thrillers and YA are my go-to reads when stressed. I really liked this one. A murder on a plane of a French woman who held the secrets of many. A great locked room mystery.

Enjoyable, albeit a little confusing when they use train terminology on a flight (people moving between "cars"? On a plane?). I think after so many Christie books, I might be getting a little fatigued by the similarities.

Boomslang poison! Not gonna lie, this totally made me think of Harry Potter and made the whole thing feel more magical.

The solution to this one was excellent! Did not see it coming. 🐝

I really shouldn‘t be surprised by the casual racism in Christie anymore but man, it still shocks me.

Racism aside, I love a locked room mystery so this was intriguing but I did find it a bit confusing.

3. This book is a take on the locked-room mystery, one in which the detective himself is locked inside with the murderer and the victim. Do you think this plot is believable? Did it feel fresh, given what you know of the trope?

#agathachristieclubR2

Laughterhp I think it‘s pretty believable. Everyone is in their own world on a plane. No one really pays attention to what someone else is doing. 3y

2. Christie has hinged several mysteries on the idea that no one notices "the help." Do you think this is true? Is this a product of the time and culture or do you think this still happens today?

#agathachristieclubR2

TheAromaofBooks Even though I didn't reread this one in September, this is still a really interesting question to me. I definitely think people don't tend to notice “the help“, especially people who wear uniforms. I'm not sure it comes from a place of... superiority or whatever, though, as much as just our brains see the uniform & equate it to a person/position & move on. Of course, I'm horribly unobservant anyway, so maybe it's just me 😂 3y
Laughterhp Yes, I think it can be true that no one notices the help. Probably more back then than now. Though I too can be super unobservant. @TheAromaofBooks 3y

Sorry I'm behind friends - work was brutal last week. But here are your #agathachristieclubR2 questions...

As always, please tag all previous commenters to keep the discussion going!

1. Did you like this book? Why or why not?

Laughterhp I did like this one. I was most excited to read it because it appears on an episode of Doctor Who. I feel like this mystery took Poirot longer to solve or at least for him to let on that he knew. 3y

Poirot is taking the plan from Paris to Croydon when one of the passengers is found dead just before landing.

Once again Christie has me fooled and I‘m as usual surprised by her solution.

#agathachristieclubR2

Linsy Can't wait to get to this one! I always forget Christie is much closer to my time than I think. My brain wants to reject the idea that one of her books is in an airplane, lol. 3y

Another Christie finished and I enjoyed it as always! This time a murder occurs on an airplane, right under Poirot's nose. The murder weapon is found underneath his seat and he must clear his name. I liked the dynamic between Poirot and the French detective Fournier. And I always love the archaeology tidbits she sprinkles through her stories.

Current library holds… queueing up Death in the Clouds for #agathachristieclubr2 and someone on Litsy recently read I Capture the Castle (sorry I forget who!), which reminded me that it‘s been on my TBR list for too long. Throw in some graphic novels from favorite authors and here I am with weeks of my reading life sorted 🤓

I think I was most excited to read this one because this book appears on Doctor Who 💚 of course the book is nothing like the episode, which I obviously knew.

This was a pretty good mystery and I definitely didn‘t see whodunnit.

Chrissyreadit That‘s funny! My son loves Dr Who - I wonder if he would read it. 4y
Laughterhp @Chrissyreadit The Doctor just shows this book to his companion in the episode and the main episode includes a wasp. It‘s one of my favorite doctor who episodes! 4y

Laughterhp @Chrissyreadit David Tennant and Donna. They go to a house party that has Agatha Christie there. 4y

Laughterhp @rwmg Haha no, I wish! Mine is just from the library. 4y

This one felt more drawn out, though enjoyable, through its course. Not as much action, per say, but more digging and possible leads. Still did not expect the correct murderer. I really liked Jane being a small part of the hunt for clues throughout the story. Was confused on the course of traveling between England and France for clues and visits.
Still don‘t know how Agatha manages to get so much in such a small book. #whodunit

It‘s a quiet dog watching weekend for me. It‘s also literally freezing outside (30 degrees), so I have my cup of tea ready to go.
I was recommended this as my next Agatha Christie novel from my local librarian. It sounds so interesting- Detective Poirot has to determine how a woman sitting ahead of him on the airplane is murdered by a venom dipped blow-gun dart. How do you get more far fetched that that? #whodunit

Finished another Agatha Christie classic. It had me reading the last ten chapters in a day. As usual never saw the ending coming. The ending definitely had my heart skipping a couple of beats. I couldn‘t wait to see how it ended. I can‘t wait to see the next mystery Hercule Poirot uncovers next.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've loved seeing all the #cozyinthesun tags today! My goal is to always have at least one cozy going at all times, whether it's in print or audio since I do have some non-cozy books I have to get to this month.

I'll be basing my tally of finished cozies on review posts, so be sure to use them to be entered for our prize! And post your cozy progress using the #cozyinthesun hashtag just because it's fun. :)

I‘ve read some pretty great Christie books lately, but this one disappointed me when I read it during the #24in48 readathon. It has all the makings of a great mystery: a poisoned dart, set on an airplane, the murder of a money lender who blackmails clients, all right under Poirot‘s nose. Despite all that, I didn‘t care enough to be interested in who did it. Also, there‘s casual racism in all Christie‘s novels, but this one was especially gross.
