Waiting for our flight from Bulgaria back to London!
I think this book was quite good. Probably one of the better Aurora Teagarden mysteries. I‘m glad I listened.
I‘m laughing so hard! I had made a Facebook post about getting a safety check in Disney and a friend suggested that maybe they saw my book stack and were suspicious! My texts are in blue #imathreat #iwouldneverhurtabookonadudeshead #facebookcensoredme #ihopeidontendupinfacebookjail #imharmlessiswear
This is the best most mysterious so far. I‘m sad there is only one left in the series.
I do like the new Teagarden books, mostly because Roe is slightly less judgmental. The mystery this time evolves her younger brother, Phillip, who's now a teen, and the fact that he and several other teens are missing.
This proved to be an absolutely gripping thriller, well-paced with each ratcheting up of the tension perfectly timed, and I found it quite unputdownable.
And now a little audio before I turn in. I was happy to see this book released, as I like Harris‘s Aurora Teagarden and Lily Bard series more than Sookie Stackhouse. At 5 hr 30 min for #24in48. Hope to do better tomorrow. Goodnight, all. 😴🌙💤
Harris recently renewed her pre-Sookie fame series with a new installment & I‘m glad there was a long break.I was pretty annoyed with the direction in which she took the romance (just like Sookie‘s) and now that those previous details have blurred,I was able to not resent Roe‘s new partner. The mystery is done with Harris‘s trademark mix of the mundane and the vicious. She just has a unique sense of non flashy crime delivered with down homey tones.
Charlaine Harris is one of my favorite authors. I can always count on her for a good mystery and laughs. I was so excited that she released another Aurora Teagarden mystery, it‘s been years. I borrowed this one from our libraries kindle selection. The selection gets better all the time. I love it!
#HumpDayPost for @MinDea
1. Looking at, and talking to, my Dante dog
2. Pink jammies
3. Never seen either, binge watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for the umpteenth time.
4. We did Oregon Trail card game for one! I love heat changing mugs. A friend sent to me a constellation one.
5. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet *or* The Forbidden Temptation of Baseball. For now anyhow, I foresee about a half dozen more before the end of the year.

Quick coffee & reading break before I head off to PT. Gorgeous day. Breezy, sunny. Heat &
humidity of last few days gone. 👏
@Caffienequeen thanks for the book, it's a fun fast read so far! Nice break from Homegrown Terror my other book!
I am bowled over by your generosity @Caffienequeen !!Such thoughtful gifts-I love that you were trying to tie in colors/items with my porch! The treats look yummy, warm ( socks definitely tie in with the wine I drink on my porch🍷) coffee mug, kitty toys, bookends & the books...you put so much time & thought into your choices for me- so appreciate all that time & energy. 😍Wonderful night cap to a long busy day! #letsgetcozy
Thx for organizing
I had a VERY slow reading week, recovering from my long eclipse weekend. Today I'm listening to this while cleaning up, & reading Kindred & Mrs. Sherlock Holmes in between.
Got back into these books because I needed an easy escape. Got the new one in the mail today and was shocked there wasn't a time jump. How do you pick up where you left off after 13 years?
My pick for today's #maybookflowers theme #lies - I'm desperate to read this. I can't justify buying it at the moment, but I want to see what Roe is up to now, even though I had a bit of a mixed reaction to the last few books, because it's been such a long time since Harris wrote about her!
My most recent read fits the #smalltown prompt, for #rockinmay. A cozy mystery, set in a small town outside Atlanta. Not the best cozy mystery, but I like Roe so I keep reading them anyway :) I've never been there, but according to AtlantaTrails this waterfall is near Lawrenceton.
@britt_brooke Here is my monthly tracker. I have the days of the month numbered down the left side. I only mark a line when I start the book and will draw and fill in the bar when I finish. The cross hatched book (Feversong) was an audiobook, the rest were ebooks.
Next month I think I am going to not skip columns between books so that the bars are touching and I can fit everything on a single page.
It's difficult to solve a mystery when everyone is lying about everything. It's a nice follow-up to what the characters are doing now.
Finally finished & a pick if you like the Aurora Teagarden mysteries. It was good to catch up w/the characters. It's a cozy so not the most complex of mysteries but entertaining & makes me look forward to another. Paired w/Heidi Swanson's Immunity Soup w/green soba noodles & veggies for lunch. Luckily made before the power went out due to winds-although it's still out & therefore no Gaga & the half-time show-the only part of Super Bowl I watch!😢
And yes, this may have happened for afternoon tea... A local bakery:cupcake place's take on a lamington--Australian cake made of sponge cake dipped in chocolate and rolled in coconut. This one has layers of raspberry jam and it's really moist and ono (as we say for delicious here). 😋 Paired with Earl Grey Creme tea & one of my current books, an Aurora Teagarden mystery. Some Sunday afternoon self-care. 📚🍰💜 #trumpispresidenteatdessertfirst
Pick, with caveats. Great, light read. A beach book. Some suspension of disbelief required. Prepare to roll your eyes at some light sexism and some somewhat, uh, old-fashioned values. Still, I enjoyed this and it was just what I needed after heavy nonfiction. 💁🏻
Sunday afternoon with a Roe Teagarden mystery. Nothing like big secrets in small Southern towns 😉
This. This is why Charlaine Harris's books will never be perfect for me. Latent (blatant?) sexism. 'She's good at the job plus she's beautiful, so you know she'll do fine.' In other places, we are expected to admire the main character's husband for doing the dishes. In one scene he dotes on her because she is pregnant and ill, then leaves her to make dinner for him moments later. HOKAY. Do better, Harris.
Grabbing a book from her TBR pile! How appropriate for Litsy!
Not perfect but it's just the thing after a lot of heavy nonfiction. Send tea.
Today's library book haul. Thanks to @DebinHawaii I found out Charlaine Harris wrote a new Aurora Teagarden mystery so I checked out the last one I read to refresh my memory plus the new one and my holds on Mary Oliver & Peter Sis finally came in too!
Day24 #readjanuary #page24ofcurrentread Here's page 24 of one of my current reads. I have 3 print books, 2 e-books & 2 audiobooks going right now (moody reader😆) This library book is #9 in Harris's Aurora Teagarden mystery series. I wondered if I should've gone back & reread #8 as it's been 13 years in between them, but the first part recaps things & I've caught the Lifetime movies & remember the characters enough that I'm enjoying catching up.👍
Oops!...I did it again... I live almost exactly between two library branches & this one is in the shopping center on my way home. I took a quick look & ended with 3 checkouts & bought Fish in a Tree for $1. On the +side these are all #blameitonlitsy additions on my TBR pile & the library books will be good for my #24in48 #readathon stack--latest series mystery, biographical poetry & a graphic novel (which has cool #endpapers to be posted soon!) 😬
I forgot I had this from the library and now I'm binge reading to finish it ❤ Due tomorrow, started today. I wonder how Aurora Teagarden would feel about my possibly late library book 😂
Current read. These are always quick and cozy and I enjoy them. Fun to have a new Roe book after so many years. Review to come.
I just finished this book. I definitely should have re-read the previous books first. I didn't remember much from them. Including important info like who Robin Crusoe even is. Which I know is bad since he clearly was important. I enjoyed the Aurora books. It has just been a while and I only ever read them all once.
That said, I enjoyed this book. I just definitely want to re-read it again after I re-read the others. #aurorateagarden
On my recent two trips to the library (I went two days in a row to two different branches) I acquired this book. It's a 7 day rental. So, I have to read it asap.
I love the libraries here. I'm so happy to be back. The library in the town I was living in the last year and a half charged money for checking out new releases. :/ #library #libraries #aurorateagarden #charlaineharris
So very very good 😊
Not as good as the other books in the series. An easy cozy read, but not much in terms of mysteries. Roe seemed sort of off compared to the earlier books.
Ok review time. I really really enjoyed this book!!! I saw this was just released, so I decided to read the series first. As a whole, I enjoyed them. A little silly. This is the first time I've read a mystery series like this. This one, however, I enjoyed way more than the others! Still a bit silly, but not over the top like I thought some of the others. Glad I read them, especially this one.
Yay yay can finally start this been wating for a long time for this one
Excellent read! Very excited to have another Aurora Teagarden mystery.
ok. I love the Aurora Teagarden books. like adore. and I was super excited for this one. it's ok. maybe I need a reread to refresh myself, but I don't think so. it was...ok. I liked it fine, but maybe it's just been too long, and like an ex, you can never quite get the magic back. I dunno. I'm still giving it a pick. it's not bad, it's just not the same.
So glad to see more of Aurora Teagarden! This book had everything not just murder...blended families, gay relationships, and bullying! Was a quick enjoyable read.
^^^ I was one of those, but deeply regret it now. Memories fade over the years but: Has Roe always been so awful?? She's pregnant, her brother's missing. When everything's going on, she's annoyed that people aren't more excited about her pregnancy. When her friend needs support, she's like, what about me? And the mystery...meh. At least it was short. I wanted Ms. Harris to revisit the Harper/Grave series but after this???? No, please don't.
I loved this book and I can't wait for the next to come out! The pic on top is me and my mother-in-law at a book signing with Charlaine Harris almost four years ago! It was so fun to meet her, she's such a lovely lady! The funny part is that we asked her at the signing if she was planning a new Teagarden book and she hadn't decided either way at that point! So glad she ended up writing this! 📚💕
Even though I finished this series within the last year, I so enjoyed this new trip back to Georgia with Aurora Teagarden & Co. Roe's half-brother Phillip goes missing along with several other kids, Roe and Robin are on the case (on the sly, of course). Only took two sitting to finish this puppy up. And while I'm glad that Ms Harris is writing more in this series, I want the next one to be out already! #booknerdproblems
Was so relieved to finally get to the last page. Better books await.
I can't say I loved the Sookie Stackhouse books I read, BUT I'm delighted by this signed book from Charlaine Harris's other series that Jason brought back from Florida with him.
I'm so excited that there's a new book coming out about my favorite librarian! I can't wait for October 4th to get here!
