I liked this sci-fi movie, and the book is better. It is kind of a Tale of the Body Snatchers story but the story is told from the perspective of one of the aliens who gets put into a human that doesn't just fade away.
I listened to this audiobook for almost 24 long hours (I sped it up eventually). If you‘re into a Twilight-style love triangle, this might be for you. For me, there were way too many incidents of Melanie getting pushed, hit, and dragged to feel comfortable. Also the story needed some serious editing.
This one was long. OMG, I was like get one with it. I'm not one to quit on a book plus the topic was really good, the characters were a little shallow with no substance. But this author goes on and on. I saw it in the movies with Twilight. I might watch the movie if I can find it. I never read her Twilight books, my daughters told me they were juvenile lol.

I loved this story! I know most readers prefered her Twilight stories but I loved this one just as much.
I loved this book! This book was almost good enough for me to forgive Stephenie Meyer for the putrid pile of garbage that was Twilight. I wish she would write a sequel to this instead of rehashing and regurgitating Twilight content the way she recently did with the new book that was written from Edward‘s perspective; that dead horse has been beaten enough. This book was both entertaining and well written. This needs to be a series.
Rereading an old fav!!!! Still love it! This is one of those rare secular books that come pretty close to conveying God's message I reckon 📖📚😊
Deviating from my current reads lol! I told my library vollies to bring one of their favourite book of all time & to be prepared to tell us all why it's their fav & suddenly realised it's been ages since I've read one of mine so I better get cracking! 😊
I just read something about a #chunksterchallenge, not sure what it is exactly but at 600+ pages I hope this counts lol! 😊📖📚
I‘ve always loved the movie so I picked up the audiobook. I‘m going to say the movie sticks very closely to the book. But I think in some ways the movie creates more connection and drama for me. I do love having Wanda‘s point of view more in this one but found her a bit thick when it came to the fact that her kind were killing people despite their beliefs that souls were kind and not killers.
Ok...this book had a great plot, but it‘s about 400 pages too long! The same thing just happens over and over. It wasn‘t terrible but just needed to end!
⭐️: 2.5/5
After this second read, I still enjoyed the friendship that develops between Wanda and Melanie. The fact the Melanie's love for Jared is what pushes her through those initial days of her occupation is powerful.
February Book 20/25 #LitsyLove
200 pages in and I just couldn't get into this. Very slow and I just didn't care enough to want to continue with the story.
My first DNF in a very long time.
This was one off my #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
Brought to you by the writer of the Twilight saga, comes this amazing sci-fi novel. If the enemy wants to cure all diseases and banish all violence, are they really the enemy? What if the price would be the surrender of your entire being? Is it worth it? The story and characters completely took me by surprise. I liked Twilight, cliches and all. But this is on another level. Well done, Meyer.

“My heart faltered and then beat unevenly, and I wanted to laugh at myself. Did it matter that [Jared] was beautiful, that I loved him, when he was going to kill me?”
(Not the best image that I found I‘m afraid)
Spent a few hours listening to this and honestly I couldn‘t get into it at all. Unfortunately this will be a bail.
New audio book to start tomorrow night
Initially wasn't sure about this book. Its well written and interesting but I felt it hard to find empathy with the central character. However it developed very well and began to pull me in. Some of the science fiction elements (like planet names) etc I found a bit odd but maybe because it isnt my usual genre. I would recommend as something a bit different. A very clever idea though!
1. Both? Creepy has a marginal edge & 2. Witches, followed closely by Vampires. Zombies are good, but the first two are often more complicated. @catiewithac @TheSpineView
For the Page of Cup, I couldn‘t think of anyone more curious than Wanderer in The Host #tarottakeover
This place was truly the highest and the lowest of all worlds the most beautiful senses, the most exquisite emotions.. the most malevolent desires, the darkest deeds. Perhaps it was meant to be so. Perhaps without the lows, the highs could not be reached.
Read through this interview with Stephenie Meyer to find out more about her book preferences!

Gonna read this next by Stephenie Meyer
recommend by my sister, sounds intriguing to me. a love triangle between a human host, an invading soul and a man who‘s avoided invasion and lives in hiding
Okay... so. Having your first impression of a love interest be an intense choke hold and right after that an unwanted kiss is not attractive. It is not shameful to need therapy. It is not shameful to feel anger or hatred. It is not shameful to quit and try something else if something is way beyond your ability. This was all in the first 50 pages and frankly I‘m not interested in reading more.

Wanda is a mind-controlling parasite that's taken over Melanie's body, and Jared is the man Melanie loves. But after spending some time in Melanie's body, Wanda has the hots for Jared too — and now he has to choose between his girlfriend, and the creature that (kinda sorta) controls her mind. No, it‘s not on my #TBR....but I saw the movie 🙄
Late to the party on this one but glad I read it. Allegedly about an alien invasion where the aliens live in human bodies, but actually a sci-fi romance featuring a love quadrangle where two of the participants are sharing one body.
Having read the Twilight books quite some time ago, I went into this story with some trepidation. I was pleasantly surprised. I felt connected to the characters and invested in the story. Definitely much better than Bella and Edward in my opinion.
Also I‘m counting this as my #shelves pic for #30junebooks 😉
I never read the Twilight series so I had no expectations for this book; I was happily surprised by the story. Wanderer, a soul placed in the human body of Melanie is expected to be alone but instead, Melanie is unwilling to give up her body...and wants to journey find her brother and love. I found this story an engaging dystopic sci fi book that, even though a thick 620 pages, held my interest to the end.
Contrary to popular opinion, this is my favorite Stephanie Meyer book by far- interesting and something completely different from anything else I‘ve read- so interesting and worthy of rereads
After reading the Twilight series what feels like many moons ago I was unsure what to expect from this. However not unlike in the Twilight books Meyer manages to convey her characters in such a way that you can‘t help but root for them! The story was unlike any other I‘ve read and if there were a sequel I would definitely be adding it to my TBR.
When you realise you‘re past the halfway point 💜📖
Starting this tonight. Loved the Twilight series so I‘m feeling hopeful. Also for 50p you can‘t go wrong, can you ?
This great young adult (SF) read, would definitely be recommend for an older child in their teens for IR. It really explores how far society will go to protect their own by banning together. UDL, Provide multiple means for engagement-recruiting interest. EL, for a novel at this level, I would provide either a bilingual book or a bilingual dictionary. https://www.teachhub.com/5-teaching-strategies-facilitate-independent-reading

Slow start, but I‘ve loved this book since it came out! It‘s engaging and the plot is so different from anything else I‘ve read. The character development is fantastic. I‘ve listened to this on audiobook a lot too, I put it on when I drive or when I clean. Trudging through the slow start can suck, but once she‘s in the caves it speeds up. Meyer grew up a lot between the Twilight saga and this, she really developed a good pace and style.
1. This book was so boring 😖
2. Pack my lunch most of the time, unless it‘s Chik Fil A day 😋
3. Grade school. My cousin and I asked our parents for pennies to toss in the water fountain at the mall. I made my wish and forgot to let go and fell in 😭🤦🏻♀️💧

Day 8: Most overrated book
This book was a gift. Never read it, probably never will. Watched the film adaptation and wasnt entirely impressed with it. Didn't make me want to read it more or less. If anyone wants to take this off my hands, please don't be afraid to ask! #stepheniemeyer #thehost #meh
1. A bug‘s life
2. Nopey nope
3. The Host ... that movie was pure trash
