This was a good, fast paced thriller. You really felt for the main character as he navigates the loss of his family. I have to admit I didn‘t see the end coming. I look forward to reading more from Finlay.

The premise of this book alone is enough to creep under your skin - a family featured in a true-crime documentary is found dead while on vacation in Mexico. While at first glance their deaths appear to be a tragic accident, a closer look reveals something more sinister at play.

Fast-paced & twisty, with enough going on to keep me guessing. A little far-fetched at times, but hey, this IS a thriller and I was happily along for the ride!

Okay. I tried to push on a little further. 40%. I just literally DON'T CARE about anything the characters are doing. ? Maybe it's just my current mood and wanting more from a book; it's not reaching me on any level. ? I'm moving it to the "probably won't finish, but maybe if I get really desperate" folder on my Kindle.

Idk. I'm at 37% and it's just NOT grabbing me. I'm not sure if it's just me that's a bit thriller'd out...or if it's just a blah book. And I don't really understand why it has to go back in time and give us the POV of the dead family?? 🤷 ...seriously thinking of setting the one aside for now.

I devoured this in four days. A teenage boy is accused and convicted of murdering his girlfriend, but his dad and sister never believed it, and a new clue emerges. Dad and sister foolishly follow the clue to Mexico, not considering that whoever might have framed their Danny might do anything to avoid the truth coming out. Danny's brother Matt, who thinks Danny is guilty, is left to try and figure out what really happened.

LitStephanie @SamAnne thanks for the suggestion! 4mo

I have so many Thrillers and Suspense that I've been meaning to read, but somehow I'm never able to pick which one to read next.

So I grabbed on to this spinner idea I've been seeing everyone use, and I must say I enjoy the simplicity if clicking and reading ...😁

This book was much better than I expected. Too many thrillers just don't live up to the hype. As with most thrillers, there was some lag in the middle but THAT ENDING THOUGH!! Agent Sarah Keller was the star of this book! Her evolution as a character was well done. Even though I think we're supposed to love Matt because his whole family is murdered trying to exonerate his incarcerated older brother, I admired Keller as she came into her own. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cathythoughts I enjoyed this one too … & I agree a lot of them don‘t live up to the hype 4mo

Lots of twists & turns. There is a lot going on in this book, with a semi-complicated plot that goes in a LOT of directions. Mostly realistic, though a few things were a bit sloppy. The writing is good, but the authorial voice occasionally felt icky. Sometimes stereotypical, sometimes misogynistic, it just lacked the balance, & authenticity in character building I would have liked. Suspense wise, well-crafted. I would try this author again.

1. Yes I do. I don‘t have the time to force myself to read something I don‘t like.
2. Slow plots, graphic rape scenes, too difficult to follow, or personal triggers.
3. For me there are two kinds of not finishing: One is a total bail to which I have no intention of returning. Then there‘s a postpone, which means a whole host of things but basically I do intend on picking it back up.

ozma.of.oz I like that! A postpone instead of a bail. There are a few I think I could class as for later. Thanks for posting! 6mo

A fast read with some good twists. I really liked the pacing and how some of the more outlandish twists weren‘t actual twists but had reasonable explanations. I don‘t need my thrillers to be realistic but I certainly need them to be grounded in some semblance of reality.

I listened to Every Last Fear by Alex Finlay. It's a thriller about a family found dead on vacation; the oldest son of the family is in prison for murdering his high school girlfriend--a crime he, apparently, didn't commit. It was an easy listen--easy to tune out. Not bad nor gripping. ⭐⭐⭐

I could not put this book down! It was intricately plotted with compelling characters. I loved the movie references, how strong Maggie was & the peeks into Agent Keller's family life.

This book starts with the murder of the Pine family, but really begins a number of years earlier when the oldest son, Danny is convicted of murder.

This was a good thriller, but to me, it was nothing special, almost cliched for the genre. About 50% in, I felt it was going to an ending that would disappoint (ie. an accident, logical explanation) and while it thankfully didn‘t, it also didn‘t surprise. I say all this because thriller and mystery is my favourite genre, making it hard to stand out. But all that being said, it‘s still a good, twisted read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

BarbaraBB So what have been a favorite of you lately? I love good thrillers but end up disappointed so often! 8mo
StellaDz @BarbaraBB If you haven‘t read Candice Fox, she is my favourite. A little merging of mystery/thriller but her characters are dark and so well-rounded!! But I am totally the same; I enjoy thrillers but the more you read, the harder it is to be impressed (edited) 8mo

Every Last Fear is a wickedly clever novel that grabbed me from the first page, refusing to let go until the last sentence. One of my favorite things about the novel is the structure. The events are seen through the eyes of many of the characters, and these different points of view allowed me to immerse myself within their individual stories, bringing with it different perspectives and emotions, along with some suspense. I highly recommend it!

Wow!! Though I‘ve seen a lot of pre-publication hype for this one, I didn‘t expect this to be the breathlessly thrilling, one-sitting reading that it is!! The Pine family‘s been in the limelight for the past 7 years with the arrest of oldest son, Danny, followed by a Making A Murder-esque documentary about him. The book opens with NYU student, Matt, learning the rest of the Pines died in Mexico. 2 timelines & multiple perspectives, worth the hype!

This debut is a psychological thriller about the Pine family found dead in Mexico. The oldest son, Danny, is in prison wrongly convicted of killing his girlfriend, Charlotte. The younger son, Matt, is left to uncover the truth about his family's final days. The local police claim it was a gas leak but the FBI and the State Department claim it is foul play.
