I buy books for my grand-nieces and -nephews for Christmas every year, starting with Dr. Seuss when they're babies, most often the tagged book first, and then changing with their interests over the years.

Those who don't remain readers as they get older usually transition to getting hoodies. After all, rare is the teen who doesn't appreciate a new hoodie! 🤷‍♀️

Fun little read for reminiscing. This was one of the go to books at my grandparents house for me and my sister.

Love the rhythms in verse and the sheer imagination.

My 6 year old is better than I am at reading Dr. Seuss aloud. 😆 He‘s loving all the activities at school this week in honor of Dr. Seuss‘s birthday, he came home and gathered our books. 📚🥳 #raisingreaders

I get sentimental thinking about reading Dr Seuss books to my little nieces and nephews on Sunday afternoons about 56 years ago. Their favorite was "Too Many Daves"

I told my teenager we were watching Christmas movies today, not streaming tv shows. (She wants to watch Lucifer. Poor kid. She‘ll have to wait a whole day to ignore me and binge!)

Then we started watching something and she remembered (!) and requested to watch Dr Seuss, the one with the marshmallows! My parenting shows: Raised on classics. Doesn‘t know what a ‘Christmas‘ movie means. Plus I could identify, with just the marshmallow clue!

I couldn‘t decide - so here are two!
1. The Sneetches, because of its “we are all the same, no matter what we look like” message
2. The Lorax, because of the environmental message
Both are so important in today‘s world.

This Dr.Seuss classic has been a favorite of mine (the ride at Islands of Adventure is awesome too!). It discusses topics of social status, profiting off of insecurities, and acceptance without the reader even realizing it. As a RA, teachers can discuss these important topics, but the book would also make a great S (hint hint), AS, RT, or IR. #UCFLAE3414SP18

This was one of the few books by #DrSeuss that was still available when I checked this morning. There were so many that I have never even heard of. I definitely plan on checking some more out when they are less busy. 😃

Nowhere on this Wikipedia page does anyone explain who the hell said it was okay to have two sons and name them both Jean-Marie like that‘s a perfectly normal decision to make.

We (I) decorated the tree tonight as well. These are just a few of the literary ornaments. Most of the lit ones are Winnie-the-Pooh. I had a bit of an obsession for a while. I‘ve got classic Pooh and modern Pooh.

Perfect for today's #Diversity prompt is one of my all time favorite children's stories, Dr. Seuss' The Sneetches. A story that is not only fun to read, but also teaches a very important lesson on acceptance of everyone around you, no matter their differences. 💛

I'm going to visit these guys this weekend and I can't wait to read with them!!!

This F book is an entertaining read, and had Ashton and I laughing throughout at the short story of the green pants. The sneetches story has a ride that goes through how the sneetches learn to get along and realize that it is ok to be different. I found this sneetch at Kohl's and there was no doubt in my mind I had to get him! A childhood memory that will never fade. He even has a star upon thar!! ❤😄

All my Seuss books are in a box somewhere. But here is a Star Bellied Sneetch and of course, The Cat In The Hat. With my Christmas stuff, I have The Grinch and Max. Somewhere we have a couple sets of Thing One and Thing Two. I'd say we're big on Seuss here! #HappyBirthdayDrSeuss #MarchMadness

The Sneetches and Other Stories written by Dr. Seuss had a great storyline! There are Sneetches that have stars on their bellies and Sneetches that do not have stars on their bellies. One day they started giving and taking the stars away until everyone couldn't remember who started out with exactly what. This is a little outside the box for today's #ReadJanuary theme of #inspiredbyMLK.

I remember doing an assembly in second grade. We talked about diversity and how MLK fought for civil rights. We then performed The Sneetches, which at its heart, is about discrimination and segregation.

It's a scary time to be an American citizen, and I hope we can honor MLK's memory by remembering his words, and choosing nonviolent means to express fear and rage.

Can we all stop for a minute and admire the engineering and construction expertise necessary to build the "Zax Bypass" while the Zaxes were still standing there?

It's like Dr. Seuss used modern political elections as inspiration for The Zax!
