This installment of By the Book is such a fun read for those of us who have been educated and motivated by Kendi‘s incredible work (and probably a fun read for most other book lovers, too 🙂): https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/25/books/review/ibram-x-kendi-by-the-book-interv...
Very interesting read. I love knowing what other people are reading, or their book recommendations and their reading habits. Worth the read. I created some questions inspired by this book, to which I answered on my Instagram account. Here is the link, don't hesitate to answer to these questions ;)

This is such a cool book! I can look up the authors I‘m reading and find out what they think about books. And many of my favorites are among the authors interviewed. A new favorite is James McBride, whose Deacon King Kong I‘m reading right now.
Such a great gift Cindy 💝

Loved this book! 65 of the world‘s leading writers open up about books & authors that have meant the most to them. I really enjoyed the questions and answers posed to them especially what books these writers have read and enjoyed. I hope that they release a new book with more writers as I also enjoyed being admitted into the private world of the authors featured in this book. Recommended

I‘ve been dipping in and out of this marvelous anthology this past week, taking LOTS of notes. Thanks for your original post @Reviewsbylola that first put this book on my radar. While it‘s a bit “dated” in terms of book recommendations it‘s still delightful and full of wonderful insight into the minds of some beloved authors.
Still have some decluttering to do and about 6 other bookcases elsewhere in the house but the book room is almost good:)
Guys, I‘m giddy over this book. I‘m only two columns in and I‘m just smiling ear to ear, nodding, laughing, and furiously stacking new titles.
I personally wasn‘t familiar with the NYT column “By the Book,” so if you read it religiously I don‘t think there‘s anything new here. If you have not (and especially if, like me, you love Nick Hornby‘s Things I‘ve Been Reading column) you‘ve gotta get this book! Perfect for all Book lovers.
You know @BookishMarginalia and I have scouted the library in our cruise and positioned ourselves so that we enjoy the crepuscular ocean view as we read.
I finally got home and was able to open my package from @Sharpeipup ! Thanks so much, Tina—I love the socks and the scarf! The books are from my list, so what‘s not to like? 😁 I‘m especially eager to read The Wide Sargasso Sea. I will definitely enjoy my sweet treats as I read! Thanks again, and Happy Valentine‘s Day! ❤️💖💘

Here‘s another graphic from the recap. You can scroll through the book covers horizontally. If you have the Kindle app, check this out.
I just discovered this neat little recap of 2018 on my Kindle app called Your 2018 Year in Review. This is a little skewed because my husband shares my Amazon account but I still enjoyed seeing the numbers all in one place like this.
#SeptemberDanes Day 19: All these celebrities/personalities share a #Fascination with the written word. This book is a compilation of the interviews conducted by Pamela Paul, editor of the Book Review for The New York Times Book Review. There are 65 interviews found in this book with witty exchanges featuring literary notables such as Amy Tan, Khaled Hosseini, Neil Gaiman, Hilary Mantel among others. My thoughts here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-9w8
A book a day for a Fabulous 2018.
Wishing all Littens a contented and a JOYFUL New Year

A collection of author interviews; nice to dip in and out of. In general, the same set of questions were asked of each author. Several were asked what books they'd recommend for the President. I wonder what their responses would be now or if it's even still asked (this is a 2015 edition) . I liked Jhumpa Lahiri's thoughts about "immigrant fiction". the link here: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/09/08/books/review/jhumpa-lahiri-by-the-book.htm...
Read this one cover to cover a few years ago. It shares a shelf with some of my favorite books about books that I like to browse for inspiration.
This collection of interviews is a current read. Of course it's also making my TBR list grow a bit more!!
My #bookoutlet order came in today. The largest I've placed from them yet 😱🙈. After the $5 coupon, this came out to $35.87 😊. Time for a book buying ban for a while 📚📚📚!
This could be a fun game. You draw a card and then have to build with the pieces listed on the card. Could be really fun after a few adult beverages.
#readingwomenmonth day 7: #booksaboutbooks
I reread Ex Libris every now and then especially that article about Marrying Libraries which always amuses me as my husband isn't really a reader (well he likes manga and comics and an occasional book).
Out of curiosity, what about your partner? Is your partner a book lover too?
It is DUMB how much I want this stacking puzzle game!!! I feel like it was made for Litsy addicts! #blameitonLitsy #Littens
#somethingforsept Day 14: Non-fiction. I don't buy much nonfiction (I tend to read them as library ebooks or audiobooks - recent faves are As You Wish and Modern Romance). When I do buy nonfiction they tend to be about writers and writing! What kind of #nonfiction do you like to read? #septphotochallenge
Loved this. Would read an interview or two before bed. Grew my to read list quite a lot. Love seeing what writers read. Look forward to the column every Sunday.
Love reading one or two of these before bedtime. Always ended adding titles to my stack. Tonight Curtis sittenfeld. Perfect since next book club pick is eligible.
'And if you were forced to name your one favorite author?
I'd have to say. "I'm sorry, but books don't work like that, and neither does music, Amen," and take the consequences.'
~David Mitchell
Can't say I've ever read any Mosley, but I like his view on comics. My beloved childhood reading wasn't only comics though. I was a ferocious reader and read everything I could get my hands on.
Devoured this! I love reading about authors and the books that helped shape them.
Gazed wistfully at this collection of book-centred interviews with authors a while back - excited to have found a pristine copy at a bargain $10 at Politics and Prose.
