Despite Pride and Prejudice being my favourite Jane Austen I preferred this spin off to her first. I felt she really captured the all Dashwood sisters characters. I liked that it included opium and the use of it during that time period. It reminded me of The Heiress by Molly Greeley which I also enjoyed. Fanny‘s character was spot on as well. I also enjoyed the delayed gratification on when the stink bomb would be used. It was a satisfying book.

A fantastic #retelling with mystery, suspense, and propriety.

Sense & Sensibility, but make it murder mystery. Really enjoyed this - the murder mystery aspect of it was really fun. It's maybe bit longer than it should've been, and the romance bits felt lackluster and unnecessary for the most part, but the ending made it worth it. Audiobook narrator was really good, too!

Took myself on an #audiowalk with the tagged book this morning. Can't tell in the picture, but it's been raining last night and the slugs were eeeeeverywhere 😩

Enjoying the book, though - not as much as I did Pride & Premeditation, but close! I'm struggling with keeping the characters separate, but I also got bored of Sense and Sensibility long before finishing, so I'm not at an advantage 😅

I think I liked this one better than the first! The enterprising Dashwood sisters take up the investigation after they suspect their father had been murdered. A wonderful and fresh retelling of a story/author that's had their fair share of retellings. #mystery #retelling #senseandsensibility

SarahBookInterrupted I felt the same. 4mo
