Wild Nights is JC Oates' collection of stories on the final days of five American authors (Poe, Dickinson, Samuel Clemens, Henry James & Hemingway). Oates frequently explores the disparity between the public perception & the real life of the author (esp in the case of Clemens & Hemingway where they are performing the parts of Twain & Papa in public). There is also a great deal of ambiguity in each story. The first one, Poe Posthumous could (CONT)
My favourite, and I love the ambiguity over the interpretation (I rarely agree with historians when it comes to most topics on literature and poetry, and this time is no different) 🤍🤎.

Thinking about maybe reading some of these
I got this book from a flea market back in 2016, finally got around to reading it. Almost halfway through the book, Joan hasn‘t saved France yet. But it‘s a really good read so far. Very promising!

I borrowed this book from my mom and stepdad, I did enjoy this book. I have an interest in Joan of Arc. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars.
Mark Twain's classic The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) is told from the point of view of Huck Finn, a barely literate teen who fakes his own death to escape his abusive, drunken father. He encounters a runaway slave named Jim, and the two embark on a raft journey down the Mississippi River.

I read this because my nephew has to read it for American Lit in college, and he'd like me to look over his essay. Try as I might, I just don't enjoy reading Twain. I can't shake the feeling that he was his own biggest fan.
