I had no idea what the hell was going on in this book, and I do love when that happens! I enjoyed the supernatural aspect, the homage to Rosemary‘s Baby, and how Unger made the apartment building seem like a character. Very atmospheric and twisty!

No murder but Lord Wimsey trusts his gut and investigates anyway. He finds motive and countless suspicious circumstances but no evidence of murder, until another person dies. And no evidence that it was murder. The hint of racism appears again and that turned me off quite a bit so that I won‘t continue the series. Saved, just barely, by some instances of lol humor and a nice analysis of how changes in laws create motives for murder. #authoramonth

Hart, a demigod, is a marshal in Tanria who delivers bodies to Mercy the undertaker at Birsdall & Son. The only thing Hart likes about going there is Mercy's dog Leonard. Hart is gruff and jaded, since his job also includes killing drudges (zombies) that take over the bodies of the dead. There's absolutely nothing Mercy likes about Hart whenever he shows up at Birdsall & Son.
