I will always be indebted to Judy Blume for getting me through some rough patched in my childhood. Back in 1975, this 10-year-old girl was the ONLY student in her class whose parents were going through a divorce. She thought her life was over. Enter this book. No one was writing for kids my age about these kind of issues ... until Ms. Blume. She had the pulse of Gen X kids, and she saved a lot of us. 🧡💜💛

#wdncw that I am very excited that Bad Bunny will be doing the halftime show for the Super Bowl. Although I have conflicting views on the NFL. I forget how healing saunas are for me both physically and mentally. I took one on Wednesday when I couldn't take the joint pain anymore, and it did wonders. I really need to get on a sauna schedule.

dabbe I may be giving an unpopular opinion here, but I think Tom nailed some of Maggie's worst traits--even though he was a dick about it as usual. Maggie's overwrought passions are going to get her into trouble--IMHO. 7mo

He has a way of commenting on our crazy society that makes you laugh and feel bad about things at the same time. He skewers the Democrats for being too sensitive and judgmental and the Republicans for having lost their way and for the cult of Trump. It was an easy and fun read. 4.25/5

CindyMyLifeIsLit @kspenmoll The trend toward replacing the classics with more modern fare is troubling, imho. There needs to be balance. Incorporate new works and choice independent reading, but don‘t discard the iconic literary works! That‘s like teaching art and only introducing the artists of the 20th century! What about the Rembrandts, the Michelangelo‘s, etc.? Their work inspired those later artists! 1y

I heard a HS student on a TV show about banned books that he got nothing from Romeo & Juliet ( that is also gone from our 9th grade curriculum, no Shakespeare) but he did front a current read. R & J is accessible depending on how it is taught. Warring households? Star crossed lovers? How about the tragedy of Israel & Gaza ? 1y

How could any teenager relate to a book about a guy who hates who he is and wants to be someone else? Who desperately wants to belong to the “cool kids” clique and can‘t get in? Who is trying to win that unattainable girl? How could any teen understand those feelings? 🙄 1y

They need us to show them that beneath the different clothes and the archaic language, Romeo and Juliet are just like them. So is Gatsby, and George and Lennie, etc. Okay, I‘m climbing off my soapbox now! 😁 1y
