Great book and truly frightening. It‘s not frightening so much because of Andy and Charlie‘s abilities but because of the twisted government that created them and wants to use them for their own use.

A collection of short stories that I‘ve read before in others books. 🙄😂
A bizarre and heavy book. The story is told by different members of the Bundren family plus a few of their neighbors and each personality vastly different from the other. It took some reading between the lines and deeper thought to understand what was going on most of the time but by the end it came together.
I‘ve read Mansfield Park a few times and with each time it‘s gets better for me. 💕
Elizabeth (Sisi) is 15 years old when she marries into the Habsburg family and becomes Empress of Austria. She immediately gains the favor of the people but life at court is very difficult for a wild and independent girl. This is one of the best books I‘ve read in a while, I was completely engrossed in it. 👍🏻
This started out very strong, lagged a bit in the middle and but ended well.
A chance to peek at the genius of Agatha Christie and how she plotted and planned her stories.
Pray for me I‘m about to read Faulkner.
Listened to this short audio while doing things around the house. It‘s always nice to revisit anything Harry Potter.
I wanted to like this more but got bogged down by all the details. Otherwise it was informative of the artists and era.
This was pure book candy, especially for those who love the Lost Generation era. What sold me was the blurb “If you‘re a fan of Midnight in Paris or Hemingway‘s A Moveable Feast you‘ll eat up this story”. So very true.
How many times can one read this book? About a million. My IRL book club is going through Jane Austen. This of course is the first book on the agenda. 👍🏻
I once heard someone say that Hemingway shines in his short stories. I have found this to be true. My favorites of the bunch: Indian Camp, The End of Something, A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, and The Snows of Kilimanjaro.
This chronicles the illness and death of Ivan Ilych. He struggles to understand why he suffers and takes stock of where he went wrong in his life until the very end of it when all is made clear to him.
I really liked this one, it would make a great movie. 👍🏻
The devotions of a 15th century monk. It was good but I had to read it in bite size pieces. It‘s a book I‘ve put down and picked up again a couple of times and finally finished this morning. 😊
I had higher hopes for this book. It wasn‘t very believable and the protagonist wasn‘t all that likable.
Reread for my IRL book club. I love this movie so much that I couldn‘t help being impatient with the book this time around because there wasn‘t enough Miss Charming in it. Tally-ho! 😂
Hotchner‘s memoir of his friendship with Papa for the last 13 years of Hemingway‘s life leading up to his suicide. A great account and look into one of the most controversial, mysterious, and prolific writers of the twentieth century.
Kristin Hannah has a talent of writing books that demand a response. This book is a journey of heartache and heartbreak and it doesn‘t let up until the last page.
Go back to the early 1920‘s and experience Paris the way Hemingway did. Black and white photos of museums , cafes, hotels, and bars that Hemingway frequented during his time there are displayed beautifully. I read it in one sitting.
This is such a beautiful book. Silas Marner is a weaver that is falsely accused of stealing and leaves his home to a new country. There he becomes a loner and a miser who has completely lost faith, until a two year old baby girl comes into his life restoring everything he once believed about humanity and himself.
What a charming account of the making of the movie. I think I‘ll go watch it now. ❤️
Just finished for my IRL book club. A reread and always worth it. 👍🏻
Steinbeck is such an amazing writer. He endears you to his characters and pulls you into their world. It also helps that I‘m very familiar with Monterey and Cannery Row so I was able to picture clearly streets and places he mentions. Fantastic book! ❤️
Still going strong after 40 years of drug addiction, alcoholism, divorces, turmoil within the band, and last but not least successes.
“They‘ve come a long, long way from boring Basildon. It would be a foolish man indeed who hazarded a bet that their extraordinary story is anywhere near being over.”
The end of my night. Lol.
I read it in 2 days. Although a lot of it is speculation it‘s still a possibility and Archie reminded me of Scott Peterson (even though he didn‘t murder her). Good book. 👍🏻
These endpapers! 😍
If I‘m not reading Poirot, I‘m watching it. Peril At End House is one of my favorites. 🙂
I don‘t really know what to say about this. 😂 I don‘t think it would ever be fair to compare anything else she writes to Harry Potter, but this was certainly different. A long drawn out fairy tale about a creature that haunts a country and then greedy evil men use the fear of the people to take over.
I wanted something to listen to for a couple of days while I did some housework and I found myself really getting into this. It‘s nothing profound just entertaining.
On broken blinds and chimney-pots,
And at the corner of the street A lonely cab-horse steams and stamps. And then the lighting of the lamps. (Preludes). I enjoyed some of Eliot‘s poems, and others had me scratching my head.
#currentlyreading I was able to recover my old account. 👍🏻Glad to be back to see what everyone is reading. I spent most of 2020 in a reading slump, it was awful, but I have high hopes for 2021.
Finished! I loved this book. It was funny, sad, frustrating, ridiculous, and thoroughly enjoyable. #GAR
This was a great book, better than The Dry I think. Anything can happen when a group of people get lost in the woods and panic.
Had to do it. 😃
This ended up being one of my favorites so far. I don‘t want to give too much away for #shakespearereadalong I thought the ending was perfect.
One of her best. 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic book, although I really don‘t know where Hollywood got their version of the monster from. 😂 #LitsyAtoZ #GAR
I liked the way it ended and the storyline coming full circle from book 1. However, I felt like there were character inconsistencies from the previous books. Audrey Rose grated on me and as much as she rolled her eyes at Thomas I was rolling my eyes at her. Thomas seemed to turn into a lovesick simpering fool. I don‘t know maybe I wanted more of the murder plot and less romance. 🤷🏻♀️
