This is the third time I‘ve read Mansfield Park and with each reading I like it more and more. I still have the love/hate relationship with Fanny Price however. 😂😬 #classicschallenge2020

I tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end this is probably the biggest waste of time I've ever come across. Rich people being rich for no particular reason? Is that really all this is? I wish I could see what everyone else is seeing, but I don't. And I don't want to anymore.

twohectobooks Are you intentionally quoting Linkin Park lyrics at the beginning there, or is that just an amazing coincidence? 1mo
okthislooksbad @twohectobooks I didn't notice it until I was checking it over for glaring mistakes, so I'm calling it a happy accident! 1mo

I‘ll be honest here, I found this book to be rather dull and my attention wandered throughout large parts of the story. I think I‘ve indulged in it at the wrong time of year, when my head is full of Christmas, New Year, new house and new furniture. I may revisit it at some point but for now it‘s a so-so (I cant pan an Austen!) On a positive note, the narration of this audiobook is very good ⭐️⭐️

Reviewsbylola This is my favorite Austen but I know I‘m in the minority! 2mo

I can‘t give a 👎 to an Austen novel, but this has always been my least favourite. I understand why Fanny is the way she is, I really do, but she still annoys me. She never expresses her opinion, lets other people push her around, and whines about everything. The only time I liked her was in the Mr Crawford situation in the end which was the best part of the novel anyway. Quite feminist 😬. The “love story” is questionable as well...

Buechersuechtling 👋🏼 Heeeeeeeeey‼️ You‘re back, was several times wondering where you are and what might have happened. So nice to have you here again. 🤗 2mo
LaLecture @Buechersuechtling Aw, how sweet of you ☺️. I totally neglected Litsy last year 😅, and now I‘m determined to post all of this year‘s reviews, so that I can have a fresh start next year. 2mo
Buechersuechtling @LaLecture So there are about 200 reviews still to come during the next hours❓🤔🤣 Did you bullet journal your reading experiences or how does it come that you seem to remember all you‘ve read in 2019 so well and detailed❓ 2mo
LaLecture @Buechersuechtling I‘ve only read 70 books this year so far, so it‘s not gonna be that many 😅. And I‘ll try to only post 7 a day after today, then I should be finished by New Year‘s Eve. I keep track on what I read on goodreads, and I posted about most of the books on Instagram, so I can check what I thought about them there 😅. 2mo

Still my favourite Austen. I never reread but returning to this one after about 10 years has made me feel I should try rereading more often. Fanny annoys a lot of people but I love how steadfast and true to herself she is, she knows what she feels is right and never departs from it even when it would be easier to change for other people. I also find the whole supporting cast hilarious - Mrs Norris and Lady Bertram 😂 I need to rewatch the film

I‘m SO excited to reread this. I haven‘t opened it since I was 14 but it‘s always been my favourite Austen (unpopular opinion but I won‘t back down). I never reread books tbh but I want to make an effort to get into it when it‘s classic novels that I know have more to say to me than I grasped the first time.

AbigailDays I read this one while riding trains all over Europe! I love Austen's works. 7mo
cosmicbutton I‘m not one for revisiting books, but I like your reasoning for doing so in this case. There are so many books that carry me away, that I miss so much nuance, so I might have to follow that advice! Also, Jane Austen is pretty much the best-another valid reason to reread. :D 7mo

What a pleasant surprise to spot 4 friends while reading! 💕 I've given up on working out today, which is very disappointing as I won't meet my original #BFC weekly goal... But it did take a week that included injury, the YMCA closing for the holiday, an overnight visit from a friend, and a stomach bug to stop me reaching that goal. Instead I'll try to finish a book today before check-in! #BookFitnessChallenge #BFCr2 #BookNerdHerd @wanderinglynn

It's almost 11:30 AM, and I've managed some water and saltine crackers. Very bummed out to be feeling so poorly when I was so looking forward to a morning run, weights, and time for spiritual practice, but thankful that I can spare the time to rest in bed and read a good book. Long, great day with my childhood best friend visiting! We hiked, we kayaked (which apparently doesn't count for Fitbit active minutes), we had a great time. 😊 Now she's back in South Carolina and I'm settled into bed with a good book! You #takethelongwayhome when you travel by horse and buggy, which is why Austen‘s novels always include months long visits with family and friends.

I started this book in 2013 or maybe 2012? It makes much more sense now why I never finished it. Although miraculously I now can say I finished it! I picked it back up for the shop's book club and because of my reading system selection was to finish a book I had put down. I'm still amazed I finished reading this story. This has also taught me I no longer will be ashamed of not wholeheartedly loving Jane Austen's writing.
